View 1 Replies View RelatedI just purchases a new DELL desktop system that runs Windows 7 and the newest version of Windows mail. My ISP is Comcast. Since using this Windows mail, people with email accounts on verizon.net and optonline.net do not receive my email messages when sent thru Windows mail. If I send these people the same message thru Comcast webmail the message is received by these people. Email accounts on yahoo, gmail, and various other servers can receive the messages. This leads me to conclude that there is something that Windows mail is doing to the outgoing message that is causing it to be rejected by certain servers

To avoid losing data in the future ask the Admin to make a password reset floppy disk. What the heck does that all mean? Is there already one on it set up by default?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been running windows 7 on my computer for quite some time and haven't had very many huge problems until recently. Now, sometimes when I start up my computer, it keeps on playing that warning sound that you hear whenever there is some sort of popup that tells you when something is wrong. But when it happens nothing ever pops up, and that warning sound plays nonstop every couple of seconds and it is driving me insane. I looked at task manager to see if there was some process that would be causing that error message and I found nothing. I also went to msconfig to make sure that all startup programs were disabled and they were. I also looked at my system sounds to see which sound it is and I found out that it is the asterisk sound. The problem I am having now doesn't happen all of the time but when it does, it lasts for a long time and requires restarting my computer.
And for the record, I am running windows 7 64 bit.
I've been trying to repair my Windows 7 Pro SP1 installation through the upgrade feature contained in the Windows DVD installation disc.
A few months ago ,I completely succeeded with such an operation with the same disc. Now, I want to do another repair and it fails everytime with this message: Quote: Windows installation program was unable to set up Windows to run on this computer material. It's then followed by another message: Quote: Windows was unable to achieve the installation. To install Windows on this computer , run the installation program again.
I have just brought a new dell laptop, and office professional. I have tried to set up a pop email in outlook 2010, but I did it wrong, so I deleted it and started again, but instead of creating a new one it called it (2) not just the normal name. I have gone through the process and it says it works, but theres nothing coming into my inbox, and what I think is happening is that its going to the original inbox of the one that I named wrongly.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy family and I have accumulated a rather large library of DVD/BD movies that we like to watch repeatedly from time to time. In order to avoid searching for and handling the original disks each time, I have been ripping the content, preserving menus, chapters, and the audio and subtitle streams for our preferred language, along with the main video title.i chose to transcode the video using h.264 format, and AC3 audio, storing those and the subtitle stream in an MKV wrapper, because that format is reasonably well supported by the WDTV Live Plus player I have been using. However, I have found many shortcomings of that player to be frustrating to me. My frustration is caused mostly by these factors:
- Browsing screen by screen, with only textual titles when deciding what movie to watch next is not pleasing.
- If I want to jump into a particular movie chapter, again there is only text (minutes/seconds) to help me find the chapter I want, as opposed to artwork such as one would have when viewing the original disk using a DVD/BD player.
- Inability to pause, and advance frame by frame, as I would be able to if playing the original media.
- The WDTV Live Plus sometimes alters the appearance of the subtitles compared with the original media, and sometimes to the extent that they are unreadable.
Thinking that I might be able to improve on shortcomings like these, I embarked on a project to build my first HTPC, which I have now done. I am happy with the system from a hardware perspective. I installed Windows 7 Professional x64, and am poised to begin using Media Center for the first time. It is my hope that I can use the MKV files I have spent many hours creating, but if some other format proves more appropriate, I will start over, but using my new system, it will not take nearly so many hours the next time.I would eventually like to retire my two Tivo boxes, so I expect I will install a tuner card such as the Ceton InfiniTV4 that accommodates a multi-stream cable card, but one Tivo function we use occasionally (and would like to retain) is the ability to download Amazon video on demand for later viewing. Is this possible with Media Center, and could I stop viewing from the family room in the middle of a movie, and continue watching on the bedroom extender?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI bought a 2nd 580 3GB GPU fitted it in no probs, and apart from trying to figure out which DVI slot runs the display (for some reason it wasnt the original) - got SLi up and running. However the first thing I did was to benchmark it with the "Heaven" demo - it ran (with audio) and then spluttered and crashed.Since then I have no sound on the PC... apart from via the TVThe PC is hooked up to a hi-fi usually via line-out 3.5mm jack. Since the upgrade this wont work at all. Sound only comes via the option of the TV in audio settings. Ive disabled that, and saw "speakers" were not plugged in (when they were). After much tooing and froing I googled this and found it may be a Realtek setting. I enabled "front ports" via Realtex and the speaker icon re-appeared, I tested the unit - NO SOUND!! However the green "level" bars show up for both back panel and front panel but nothing is heard. Ive tried a different set of speakers, different cable and different OS but same issue.
Ive tried uninstalling the Nvidia drivers thinking it could be their HD Definition Audio driver, also went into Nvidia control panel and saw an option for the GPUs audio to be turned off - still nothing. Tried disabling onboard audio via BIOS - still nothing.Tested my hi-fi - works fine. Its my worry that something may have borked up on the motherboard (Rampage 4 Extreme)

In Control Panel, Sounds, I clicked on, New Mail Notification, (which has a sound icon in front of it), I imported "gotmail07" and under, Sound Scheme, the system automatically entered, Windows Default, Modified, which I saved. When the test button is clicked the sound does come on BUT there is NO sound when new mail arrives when Yahoo mail is opened. Also, when Yahoo email is opened I went to Tools, Internet Options, Advance, and there IS a check mark for both, Play system sounds and under Media, Play sounds in web pages. Also, there is NO icon for when new mail arrives in the lower right area where the time & date appears.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI upgraded from Vista to Windows 7 and - as advised - installed Windows Live Mail. The latter mail program does not offer a stationery option, automatically inserts a shadow under any inserted photo, often gives me the message (for mail forwarded that contains images "One or more pictures in this message could not be found. Do you still want to send?," frequently stops working for no apparent reason...and, all in all, is a poor substitute for the old Outlook Express or for Window Mail.I would appreciate having step-by-step instructions for re-installing Windows Mail to work with Windows 7. I'm not worried about the transfer of old messages and contacts which I believe I can still import from Windows Live Mail.
