Rotating Taskbar At Top Of Screen
Nov 7, 2009I had a rotating taskbar on top of my screen when i got windows 7 on my new laptop- it was like the apple one but has now dissapeared- how do i get this back?

Dec 24, 2012I tried out Windows 8 for a while. Unfortunately, many of the video games I play crashed a lot, and well, to make a short story short, I have reinstalled Windows 7. One of the features I really liked in Windows 8 is that with a dual monitor set up, my desktop backgrounds not only rotated, but were not synchronized like in Windows 7. For instance, I could have a Battlefield 3 background on one, and a Company of Heroes background on the other... while on Windows 7, if I have Battlefield 3 on one, it will be the same thing on the other display. I can't seem to work out an option to have different "unsynchronized" desktops rotating..

Dec 26, 2012My computer has started freezing up with the cursor hanging constantly as the blue rotating circle as if something is loading. I can't access any programs or bring up the task manager but I can move the mouse. It started out happening infrequently when I would first start the computer. It would boot up normally but when I tried to start a program it would freeze and the only thing I could do was power off and restart.
Now it happens every time I start the computer unless in safe mode, which works with no issue. Usually within the first 5 minutes after booting up the computer freezes. I have been able to open some programs or games in full screen and play normally but I am unable to alt+tab out of the game. When I exit to the desktop, everything is locked up as if the freeze has already occurred in the background.
I am running Windows 7 64bit SP1
Intel Core i5-3570k CPU
8GB RAM
GeForce GTX 670 GPU
Windows 7 Explorer Is Not Responding, Blue Circle Endlessly Rotating?
Nov 26, 2011There is a perhaps related post four weeks ago, to which there have been no replies. I open Windows Explorer, and highlight a folder. Then hit the DELETE key. The little blue circle icon shows the light chasing its tail endlessly. Task Manager indicates "not responding" and when I hit the white X on red "close" button in upper right corner, I get an error window that says the same thing. There is only a single thumbnail.info file in the folder. If I try to click on another folder, the screen goes gray. This happens only recently, not previously.

Dec 4, 2011I have my task bar placed at the top of the screen and auto-hide is OFF. This is what it normally looks like and should always look likeAs you can see indicated by the red line, there is a space between my web browser and the task bar.However if I restart my computer or if I open up a full screen game this is what happens:As you can see the space disappears. I prefer the look with the space but the only way to get it back is move the taskbar back to the bottom, then move it back to the topThe space comes back if I do that.However I should also mention that if I keep the taskbar on the bottom and turn off autohide, the space will be there as well but when I restart the computer the same problem occurs down there as well.

May 11, 2010I keep my taskbar at the top of the screen. I just like it there for ease of use. I'm not trying to make windows look or act like a mac (they annoy me with a lot of their button positions and whatnot)... I just like it up there on the top of my screen.
However, a lot of applications start out up at the very top of the screen. In XP, they started out in the middle of the screen, but in 7... well they are all the way at the top. And my taskbar is covering the menus and title bar, thus not allowing me to grab and move them.
Any of these which are resizable by grabbing a side or bottom edge, I just click there and windows will pop it down to just below the task bar. But several aren't, and I can't move the window in any way, shape, or form. If I know the menu layout, I can use alt keys to duplicate most functions... but some don't have alt key equivalents, or I just don't know them.
Is there any way, short of moving my task bar, or making it auto hide (which I do NOT want to do), to prevent this from happening, or even just reliably fix it each time it does happen?
Windows Appear Off Screen On Taskbar - Cannot Make It Active
Mar 28, 2012Every icon on my taskbar only open off screen. I can see they are open by the thumbnail picture, but I can't make it my active window. I have tried the alt-tab, move method but still can't get them to appear. Is the problem caused because my computer thinks there are two monitors, when I actually have only one? How do I stop this from happening?

Sep 28, 2012Recently with items pinned to my Quickbar, when a window is open and moved off screen the quick-launch shortcut is removed (so that when you hover over the quickbar icon, nothing displays). Normally you can always see the "shortcut" display of any window of that type open.In my opinion this is a great feature which allows me to remove clutter on the taskbar while still keeping the window open. This "feature" isn't working right now (i.e. no matter where the window is, minimized or off screen the "shortcut" display on the quickbar always displays it), and I was wondering if Windows was bugged, or if this is a toggle-able feature.

Just shows me a black screen which fades back to a icon-less desktop. Solutions regarding finding explorer.exe and running it to show desktop icons don't work either.Just pops out the explorer window showing the desktop.And don't even start on right clicking desktop and select show icons.... cause that's the first thing I tried. System restore in safe mode yielded no results. Virus and malware scans turn up a clean bill. I'm only short of reformatting the pc, and I'm not even sure if I'm able to run the reformat from windows.

Jan 3, 2013So about a month ago I restarted my computer and when it came back on all my programs pinned to my task bar and everything that was in my start menu was gone. From there I could not unlock the taskbar and nothing would pin in either the start menu or taskbar. I researched everywhere about it. I tried unlocking the taskbar in properties and registry with no luck. I finally found some posts about how my user profile was corrupt and from there I went on and made a new profile and copied everything and BOOM it all worked fine now. Well today it happened AGAIN! I restarted my computer and everything disappeared. So I think it is still a corrupt profile, but this is the second time it has happened.

Jan 16, 2013I have a client that has laptop with windows 7 Pro. He had a faulty network card, so I have added a new, usb network card. That said, He can not pin anything to taskbar or start menu. I cleared both folders of shortcuts(567 of them) but to no avail. He also has no options under his desktop Context menu for New. He is also using a roaming profile, of which I will disable next time I am there. I have a feeling that might be the issue. I did scour the internet trying all the usual suggestions, but do vaguely remember something about an entry in cache somewhere that if it is too big or corrupt, it could cause this behavior. I am unable to find that post anywhere now.I mention the network card because one post had taskbar issues until he disabled his faulty network card. I have disabled the faulty network card.

When I was done playing it for good, I uninstalled it and it looked like the icon was off the taskbar, but it wasn't. When I tried to put another program onto the taskbar, called minecraft_server.jar, it pinned to the Spiral Knights icon, even though SK isn't installed anymore. Wherever I try to put the minecraft_server.jar onto the taskbar, the SK program is still there, and it says if I want to pin the minecraft_server.jar onto SK.

Aug 13, 2012Yesterday, the task bar and Start button mysteriously disappeared.I've also found that the "Taskbar and Start Menu Properties" windowdoesn't come up. There are two places to click on in Control Panelthat should bring up this window, but it doesn't. The Control Panelborder changes color as if something is starting to happen, but thennothing happens, possibly indicating that some program starts to runbut then finds something wrong and exits. I didn't see anythinginteresting in the error logs. The desktop icons appear normally.The problem exists only when logging onto my son's account. When Ilog on as administrator, the task bar and Start button appearnormally.The usual tricks don't work: Ctrl+ESC, or bringing up Task Manager andtrying to rerun explorer.exe. I tried sfc to check for corruptedfiles, but none turned up. I ran an AVG scan and it did find one fileit considered a threat, which it removed, but that didn't solve theproblem.
I found a web site that referred to the registrykeyHKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPoliciesExplorerwhich has a NoSetTaskbar value that can be used to disable the"Taskbar and Start Menu Properties" window. On the administratorlogin, the Explorer subkey is there all right, but doesn't haveNoSetTaskbar. (It does have NoDriveTypeAutoRun.) But when I log ontomy son's account, the Policies key had no subkeys at all. I triedadding an Explorer subkey without adding any values, but this didn'tsolve the problem. I haven't yet tried adding a NoDriveTypeAutoRunvalue, but since this seems to pertain to AutoPlay it didn't seemrelevant to this problem.Any thoughts as to what might be going on or what might fix it?

Dec 7, 2011I edited the Internet Explorer 'icon' pinned to the TaskBar, so that I could change its target to some other program which lacks a 'pin to the taskbar option'. That succeeded. I can now launch the other program from the 'converted' I.E. icon. However, something went wrong, in that the icon remnant still has the name Internet Explorer attached to it, and lacks a Context Menu through whose Properties I might set things right, including changing the image (and name) of the icon. I want to either be rid of it and start again; or fix it up.

May 20, 2011lately while watching movies on my laptop the taskbar keeps randomly popping up at the bottom and then disappearing after a couple of minutes, this has only just started happening and it gets incredibly annoying when watching a film when attached to a separate monitor. its happening when watching videos on Internet,4od,bbc iplayer etc, anything fullscreen. its not just browser vidoes either, while watching dvds through vlc or wmp it is happening.
