I can imagine there are litterly hundred of people asking this same question. So today I ask you Video Gurus to tell me and us.
What is the best route to go when installing a new PC window 7 Codecs, Which can mess up your PC but give you precision control over image quality.
Or VLC which has all the codecs built into it that will allow you to play any video format you need right out of the box?
Im always wondering and Ive used both myself However I'm working on the "perfect" build and I do not want to install un-needed or troublesome applications.
I love the VLC ease of use, however I hate the player. No matter what I watch when I jump ahead I get tons of pixelations for 10-15 seconds afterwards.
Im not a dig deep into the guts guy either so installing Codecs and having to config every aspect of these when I have no idea what all the setting really means isn't fun either.
So lets hear what the "pros" here have to say on this question! If There is another application besides VLC please feel free to add it to the discussion.
I use to have K-lite Mega Codec Pack installed in my other laptop (Win Vista x86), and watched everything on Media Player Classic, but some files weren't syncronized with subtitles so i opened with BSPlayer to sync them manually.
Now in this laptop i went to search for K-lite for 64-bit OS, and i got these: but when install finished it had no MPC and it seemed to me to have less codecs.
I'm in a Multimedia Degree and i use Adobe Premiere CS3/4 (still dont know what to install but probably the new one). Also i've read here some problems Launching the game Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion, could be due to the lack of codecs.
So i think you get all i need
Codecs for Windows 7 x64 with MPC and able to work along with BSPlayer and Adobe Premiere CS3/4 and Quicktime Pro btw, and also that might help with games.
Btw, i can't tell what Build is my version of Windows 7, i just can say it's Windows 7 Home Premium (can you tell me how to know the build?).
I'm having some trouble with media center, and actually also other video players..
I've been trying for some time to get media center running, but I keep having trouble with the codecs.
I'm running win 7 build 7100. First I installed ffdshow and used the MCDU to get media center to use ffdshow, and it worked. But then suddenly out of nothing about a week ago it didn't work anymore. When I tried to play a video-file I got the decoder error from media center telling me th-at the codec isn't working or isn't installed. It's all types of video files, avi, video_TS and so on. I then tried to uninstall ffdshow and install it again, but it didn't help. I then tried to uninstall again and install a different codec-pack. Didn't help. I have tried to install many different codec-packs but nothing helps.
Then I tried to play the video files using other media players. When playing video files in VLC the picture is kind of pixellated, doesn't look good at all (it's like watching the picture of Ripley's daughter as an old woman in Aliens if you remember).
I can't find a solution to this problem as I don't know what is wrong.
I am trying to view videos that used to work perfectly fine when I had Vista but now they don't seem to play anymore. I tried, K-Lite, Shark007, and VLC Player but none of them seem to be able to play the video. I tried installing the "official" xvid codec since that's what I assumed the format is due to it's filename (it's a video I downloaded). I am using Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. Also how would I make sure what format my videos are?
I've noticed that some video files I play don't have sound when playing through Windows Media Player, and some do. Even though they appear to be the exact same file, .avi, with all the same settings.
Just wondering if anyone had a similar issue to this, and if they had found a fix or the proper codecs to download.
I am having trouble on a couple of PCs, in that the playback on most players (VLC, Media Player Classic, WMC) is jittery in some cases and fails in others. The jitter occurs when I go from a 108050p source to any sized output but at 25fps (i or p) output. The difference between a smooth play and a jittery play is that if you freeze, the smooth play is blurred, twice as much as it was at 50p, as if some sort of interpolation was being done, while the jittery play when frozen presents a still screen with several distinct ghosts of any moving bit. This is what leads to the flickery appearance.I was told that this was an interlace problem, but I thought interlacing caused horizontal lines on the screen, not ghosting.
I have edited / rendered video in various programmes. I have used AVS4U, Vegas, Adobe Elements and several others. The results are the same.I have tried many formats and codecs, as well as trying interlaced, Upper and Lower FF, as well as Progressive. However, at present, WMPlayer is playing stuff nice and smoothly for me, while none of the others are. All are jittery. In addition to this, WMC refuses to display vob files at all. IT just shows a blank screen, with sound, but only the progress bar at the bottom, ticking off the seconds, with no actual video at all.WMPlayer seems to be the one player that does not allow manipulation of codecs, and it just seems to be working....now.how do I choose what codecs are used by a player to play a file, or how does it choose?
When uninstalling (completely uninstalling mind you) Winamp, I took all the video codecs with it too (.avi .mpg and others). I'm currently using WMP 12. Any trusted and Microsoft approved link to reinstall these codecs?
does anyone know how to disable the built-in codecs of windows 7 professional x64 ? (i want to disable the built-in codecs because it doesn't let other codecs to decode videos )
Recently, well the other day I decided I would re-install Oblivion and after re-install something went haywire and now music will not play in Oblivion. Well, it might, but if I leave music on it will freeze my mouse and keyboard 5 minutes into loading a game each and every time, leading the game to be unplayable. A little background in case you were wondering why I would want to reset Win7 codecs.
Well, I have looked all over google and have not seen any way to un-install all codecs and re-install default codecs that were installed with windows 7. This is all i'm trying to do.
P.S. - if WMP12 is uninstalled, would that remove the codecs with it? and would re-installing WMP12 add the codecs back, or do the codecs come with the Windows 7 install itself.
I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 x86 with K-Lite 9.5 installed. VirtualDub 1.9.11 isn't getting access to the codecs except for Cinepak, etc.I should be using Avidemux anyway, but I can't figure out how to make desperately needed templates and last time I tried to encode a video in h264 it looks a lot worse then it's supposed to for some reason.
i have installed windows 7 64-bit build 7000 today
Firefox seems strange i don't know why also Can't install Yahoo! Toolbar because yahoo toolbar website can't recognize windows 7
also when playing any movie wit .srt subtitle files i can't see subtitles at the movie i tried K-Lite Mega Codec Pack and Shark VistaCodecs and still have the problem
also where is the Quick Launch or it's replaced by Pin Icons to Taskbar
I really wanted this model because it had a half-decent video card, the store i bought it from (Flanco) only had 3 exposed one (as in exposed in showroom) and the one i bought went through service because of a "minor keyboard problem". I can't return it without huge hassle because of stupid store regulations and even if i could, i can not find a better model for the money and also lose my 3 year special offer warranty
When I do a search on how to sort, I get a Tutorial that tells me to open the "View" Menu item. However, as you can see from the attached, I don't have a VIEW menu on my Folder. I would like to sort these by file type so that I can save them to a CD. What am I doing wrong here?
I have Mass Effect 2 installed on my system, however its logo is scattered all over system files. none of these files have anything to do with the game, if I click on them, it brings up Mass Effect 2!
it is possible to stop certain file types from appearing in windows explorer?I'm using Sony Vegas which creates a .sfk file for every clip containing the waveform of any audio. The problem is it's making the folder full of 50+ clips too messy and I can't find the bits I need.I would just hide the files but then if I add more clips to the folder and then Vegas creates another .sfk it's not hidden.
Window 7 Libraries seem to work by including certain folders rather than file types despite the fact that the default library names are by type (eg Videos)On my hard disc I have a folder called My Pictures. Several of the folders in that Folder contain video clips. If I click on 'Pictures' in Libraries, it brings up those videos as well as the pictures. But when I select 'Videos' in Libraries it brings up a blank page.If I create for example a holiday folder (eg Rome 2012) containing photos, videos scanned maps and word documents, is there any way that I can click on a corresponding library category and only show that type of document in the Rome folder without having to do a sub search. If I want to view all items, I can go to the folder called Rome.
With RC coming out tomorrow I thought it would be a good idea to inform everyone of the types of feedback Microsoft is looking for this time around.
• Issues that prevent installation or upgrade • Any issues that involve corruption or data loss • Security issues • Regressions from Windows Vista SP1 or Windows 7 Beta (things worked before, but do not work now) • Any application or device issues that would prevent you from using Windows 7 as your primary OS. • Reproducible crashes or hangs (issues that you cannot reproduce will be captured by CEIP Telemetry)
Even though Microsoft have removed the feedback links, its still possible to send them feedback by running the command: rundll32.exe FeedbackTool.dll,ShowWizard.
I'm looking for the best way to have the option of searching all files that I specify, regardless of indexing or file extension or anything, for file contents. I know this will be slow - that's fine. I understand the indexing, limited extensions, etc... are all meant to speed up the search, which is great for most usage, but sometimes it just doesn't do what I need.
I have downloaded various video clips from different websites and would like to copy or burn then to blank DVD's. However, I am not that good with computers and don't exactly know how. I have a DVD burning software which I have taken my own personal DVDs and made a copy of them (which is not illegal by the way, I made sure and checked that). But I don't know how to do the same with various video files I have downloaded from the internet or that friends have emailed to me. Some of the files types include AVI, and MKV file types, others I cant find out what kind of file it is. I can play these on my computer and watch them, but I would like to maybe compile the video files and put hard copies of them on DVDs.
Is there a way to designate what file types are able to be included in a folder? For example, I would like to create a folder that will ONLY accept Excel files.
Soo i was changing the auto open so it woulnt use any program and i accidentally deleted the .ESP and .ESM value and now that kind of files that used to show what type they were now show to be nothing (none).cant change the properties of a file to 'open with' nothing

i have installed ms office 2007. and i m using the one note there. i want to ask you that which type of data stored in one note back up files. means that is it stores all the information like cut copy paste or audio video data?
