View 1 RepliesI have installed 7 RC fine and now I want to remove an old bloated install of XP from my hard drive. Simply trying to format the XP partition from inside 7 or using the Windows hard disk management tool to delete the partition doesn't work so how can I do this.I have 2 physical hard drives: 1 for the OS partitioned in 2 - 1 for XP and 1 for 7, and a separate physical drive for data.So basically how do I make my OS drive 1 partition with just 7 on it.

Surely it isn't necessary to have to follow this procedure every time I wish to use it...or is it?

View 2 Replies View RelatedSome might remember I posted a few days ago about installing Windows 7 (64bit) separately on this same comp (different hard drive) to test what drivers worked for the devices I had, in particular the Canon scanner.
Anyway it worked, and I booted into Windows 7 64b fine - but I had a few issues getting back into 32-bit one (64bit one became the active boot. even after i used diskpart and bcdedit etc.
Anyway, I got the 32-bit install to again load as the default (and deleted the 64-bit partition). BUT, I keep getting the Vista booting screen - i.e. the small green loading bar instead of the elaborate "Starting Windows'. I then put in the Windows 7 dvd in and went to repair the install (to try & get the Windows 7 boot screen back), but it wouldnt even find the OS install to repair it.
So basically, its back to the 32bit Windows 7 install fine - but with the older Vista loading screen. Any ideas?
When I want to install windows office 2010 x64 it gives me error "you cannot install the 64-bit version of the office 2010 because you have 32-bit office products installed".he 32-bit office product which is installed in my computer is "Compatibility Pack for the 2007 office system" that is KB940289. I uninstalled every piece of Microsoft Office 2007 but I can't uninstall KB940289. I tried all the 3 Microsoft fix this installer clear utility but It cannot uninstall KB940289. Unless the KB940289 is uninstalled it won't let me install Windows office 2010.I don't want to format my computer just for removing KB940289. Do you guys have any idea how to remove it?

I am not able to remove it from Add/Remove programs, have read through some help info and attempted to use the Windows Fixit, Revo & Ripoutoffice2007, none of which have removed it (Revo didn't take it out and then pulled up a million 'left over' files, none of which I deleted).

I have been using a program called Raw Therapee. I downloaded a new version and on installing it quit saying the old version must be removed. I could not find it listed in Revo Unistaller Pro, so I did a forced uninstall with the location of the main executable. This removed a lot of stuff. I checked the program folder and the folder and many files were still there, so I deleted them. I did a CCleaner in between and after. I then unhide and show system files and deleted the folders in the Appdata of main user and admin account, couldn't find it anywhere else.
CCleaner again and reboot. Went to install the new version again and it claimed that the old version was still installed. I did a search for *aw The* and found an entry in the hidden Program Data Folder. In the Admin account it will not let me in this folder to delete any remnants of the old version of Raw Therapee.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have two external USB2 HDs. Whn I click on the Safely Remove HW tray in Windows 7 Ult 64-bit, HD-1 is shown, and I can remove it, but HD-2 is not shown, and therefore I cant remove it.
But HD-2 does show on the Safely Remove HW tray in XP. Same computer, btw. Am I ok to just shut down the HD, or may I run into trouble by doing that? I learned the hard way a few years ago that you can't do that with drives attached to Mac OSX. why that HD would not show up in Windows 7, when it does in XP?
I have a desktop (currently running Win 7 x64) and a laptop (currently running Ubuntu) but I'm having loads of problems with the 64bit version of windows on my desktop and I want to switch so Ubuntu is installed on the desktop and Windows 7 (32 bit) on my laptop.
I would only be using Windows on 1 PC but obviously it's already been activated on my desktop so would I have any problems activating it on my laptop? Is there a way to "deactivate" my desktop so I can activate it on the laptop or am I going to have to call Microsoft and hope they'll allow me to do this?
My laptop originally had Windows Vista Home Premium x86 on it, but I upgraded it to Windows 7 Ultimate x86. Is there any way to return to Windows Vista Home Premium?

I'm sick of chkdsk running at start up!!!!How do i remove this sh*t from my computer!?!?
