Specs: 1.6ghz AMD Athlon XP-M, 512mb RAM, Integrated Graphics Card.
Also, I know for a FACT that the DVD works and is perfectly fine. I've used it on other machines before.

I have done it many times before with XP and Vista, but was unsure if it can be done with 7 since MS has done some things different to prevent piracy. Sep 16, 2012I recently bought a samsung NP-300V5A laptop for compsci at school, and picked it due to the fact that out of all the laptops at microcenter, this one was at a reasonable price with an i7 2670qm, however, coming from building 3 of my own very high end desktops (3930k w/ gtx 690 & ssd's) the 5400 rpm drive just was unbearable, so I went out and picked up a crucial M4, and replaced it. I also bought a copy of windows 7 home premium OEM and tried booting from that dvd, and it would not work, I just got a backlight loop, so I inserted the Samsung recovery install disc, and used it to install windows, worked just the same as any other win7 install, however, my internet is not working now, and my laptop's monitor/display is recognized as a generic nonPnP and won't go to its max resolution.

Not being incredibly good with computers myself, I took my laptop to someone who is and they told me that windows was corrupted. Jul 27, 2012I have a Toshiba laptop that came with a preinstalled copy of Windows-7 (64 bit) version purchased in July 2010. No setup disk came with the laptop, but there is a "Toshiba recovery media creator" utility.
[1] What is the better option for formatting my drive? Should I use the Toshiba media-creator or install a clean version of Windows-7 from an ISO download (am I allowed to do that? If so, what is a good site to download?) There is a "sticker-certificate" on the bottom of my laptop with a product-key. Will it work with the new install?
[2] Do I have the option of installing a 32-bit version of Windows-7 instead of 64-bit with the above license? The reason is that most applications I use are 32-bit and hence a 32-bit OS is better suited for me. But does the license allow me to do that?
[3] (The tricky part) - Since I have a good 320GB HDD, I want to dual-boot by creating two partitions - with a linux distribution (Ubuntu/openSuse) running on the second partition? Assuming I don't have the option of clean-install, will I be able to create the extra partition for linux using the Toshiba utility?

Aug 16, 2012a friend of mine bought an Emachines laptop from sweden aguess, and the HDD failed, so I had to install a new OS to a new HDD... but now the Network controller just wont install... and on Emachines homepage the version G730G is not even shown.I have tried many different ways of installing, even disabled UAC, safe mode, thru command promt and still not installing. On device manager it just shows under "other devices" as "network controller" with a yellow sign on it probably its for wifi, cause it doesn't work currently also I took it apart yesterday before installing new windows... cleaned and changed thermal paste. could it be that I might have broken WIFI wire or its not connected properly? (It's a pain in the butt to take this apart and put it back together)

Nov 2, 2009before i gutted it out and put all new stuff in, my computer was once an eMachines C6415. it has a built in card reader that 7 identifies, but just as a generic card reader. there are windows xp drivers for it that will give them certain icons and specify what kind of slot they are, but i can't find any for 7. they work and all, but i want them to show up in my computer with all the correct information (instead of the generic icon that just says "removable drive"). i can't find any 7 drivers for it. any help?

Aug 10, 2012A friend gave me a netbook the one in title and I believe the sata hdd is failing, I just need some reassurance. The computer is just majorly slow, done some researching on the board and found out if the drive fails to spin up so many times it will put it in POI-I mode or something like and cause the data transfer to be extremely slow. When the computer FINALLY does turn on takes an hour sometimes no joke nothing will load. Acts like its frozen, after a while of letting it sit and do its thing I can slowly start opening stuff and it starts to speed up. I've defragged, ran chkdsk, and startup repair and everything I could think of and no luck. Is the drive failing ?
