How can I reinstall when the compuer cannot switch on to start with even with the safe mode?
I am working on a laptop that belongs to a friend of my son. This thing seems wrecked with viruses and spyware. I believe my only course of action to fix this thing is for a clean install of Windows. My question is...
Can i use my Windows 7 Home Upgrade disk to reinstall Windows on this lappy? I have done it many times before with XP and Vista, but was unsure if it can be done with 7 since MS has done some things different to prevent piracy. I do have the 7 Key on the bottom of the notebook. It's just that nobody ships recovery disks with notebooks anymore.
I just received a Toshiba Tecra A11 from work. It's quite an alright computer, but it brings, as usual, the infamous bloatware from the manufacturer. what should I do?
1. Do nothing besides disabling startup programs
2. Uninstall programs
3. Install another Windows 7 version (alias cracked) without all that bloatware
The computer brings a fingerprint scanner and, as I don't like Windows 8, I'm not planning to do the switch.
I recently bought a samsung NP-300V5A laptop for compsci at school, and picked it due to the fact that out of all the laptops at microcenter, this one was at a reasonable price with an i7 2670qm, however, coming from building 3 of my own very high end desktops (3930k w/ gtx 690 & ssd's) the 5400 rpm drive just was unbearable, so I went out and picked up a crucial M4, and replaced it. I also bought a copy of windows 7 home premium OEM and tried booting from that dvd, and it would not work, I just got a backlight loop, so I inserted the Samsung recovery install disc, and used it to install windows, worked just the same as any other win7 install, however, my internet is not working now, and my laptop's monitor/display is recognized as a generic nonPnP and won't go to its max resolution.
I bought a Vaio laptop when working in Germany with Win 7 Home Premium. The reinstall on this would be from an install partition and in german. I upgraded to german Ultimate by buying a DVD and installing the English language pack. Its time to do a clean reinstall.
Before taking the plunge would anybody know if there is the option to install ultimate direct from the DVD in English or do i have to follow the above tortuous route.
bought an HP DM4 yesterday an noticed there wasnt anything in the box regarding recorvery disk or windows reinstall disk.An IT co worker informed me that i should have recieved a windows disk just incase my computer OS died on me and i needed to reinstall fresh.am i missing somthing here or do i have to call hp for them?
My laptop won't boot correctly. It says windows is loading files then always ends up with just a black screen and a cursor. Not being incredibly good with computers myself, I took my laptop to someone who is and they told me that windows was corrupted. This was after trying in just about every way possible to get it to boot and failing. I tried to reinstall windows with the partition and I couldn't get it to do that. I was told that the hard drive was also corrupted. So I tried to reinstall it from the disk. It says to insert boot media and press any key, which I did, but it doesn't take me to the window where I select a language. It just goes right to windows is loading files then a black screen with a cursor.
I get a message on start up that window system 32 is not compatible with my computer. I have a new sony window 7 laptop only 2 months old. I lost the sound too, though it show that its working.
i bought a new laptop (toshiba t130) and as such windows 7 came pre-installed on the laptop and so i have no disk!
when i turned on the laptop for the first time the setup came up asking me to select between 32-bit and 64-bit. i decided that i needed to do some more research on the matter so i cancelled the setup.
however, the next time i turned it on windows 7 automatically setup the 32-bit version!!
how can do i do a clean reinstall of windows so as to change it to 64-bit?? (as i have no disk)
I have a new laptop on its way and my friend suggested for me to to a clean wipe/format and then reinstall Windows 7 so that all the useless softwares that comes with the laptop can be deleted and I can have a fresh start with the laptop. So my questions are considering my situation, which would be better, to wipe or format? And what are the procedures for the doing so, and also reinstalling Windows 7?
I am having problems with a VERY slow laptop. (It is 3 months old.)The booting and general browsing is slow and lags a lot! D: (I have another thread about that issue.)So should I format or reinstall my Windows 7? (I don't have any restore points.)And how do I do this? (I have no clue as I have never done this myself.)I have don't have a windows 7 CD, as it came with Windows 7 when I bought it.And do I need a Windows 7 Key to reinstall windows? (Is it the key underneath the laptop?)
Performing a clean reinstallation of Windows 7 on a Dell Inspiron N5010. Should I let Windows Update give me everything that I need, and then look for drivers on the Dell website for anything that does not work properly?
I have a Toshiba laptop that came with a preinstalled copy of Windows-7 (64 bit) version purchased in July 2010. No setup disk came with the laptop, but there is a "Toshiba recovery media creator" utility.
[1] What is the better option for formatting my drive? Should I use the Toshiba media-creator or install a clean version of Windows-7 from an ISO download (am I allowed to do that? If so, what is a good site to download?) There is a "sticker-certificate" on the bottom of my laptop with a product-key. Will it work with the new install?
[2] Do I have the option of installing a 32-bit version of Windows-7 instead of 64-bit with the above license? The reason is that most applications I use are 32-bit and hence a 32-bit OS is better suited for me. But does the license allow me to do that?
[3] (The tricky part) - Since I have a good 320GB HDD, I want to dual-boot by creating two partitions - with a linux distribution (Ubuntu/openSuse) running on the second partition? Assuming I don't have the option of clean-install, will I be able to create the extra partition for linux using the Toshiba utility?
Because the computer got a virus, we had to completely format and re-install windows 7 on our asus A53E laptop unfortunately it's not without some problems, namely 4 drivers:"pci simple communications controller" "SM bus controller" "network controller" "ethernet controller"..The driver software installation says 'no driver found' And it cannot connect to the internet, so it can't even search for them online
I recently had to wipe out my hard drive and re instal. Ever since I cannot hear with my head phones plugged in. the sound on the lap top has also reduced considerably.
I upgraded my Vista Laptop to Windows 7, I also have a WindowsXP machine. My question is, can I reformat my Laptop and reinstall Vista and then upgrade my XP machine to Windows 7?

HP compac Windows 7 ultimate-service pack 1 Intel pentium 3.40 GHz 32 bit OS, 2.00 GB Ram
I removed Internet Explorer 9 after having some problems with it here on this 64 bit machine. Now Firefox has upgraded to version 5 and is no longer compatible with my Dishnetwork Slingplayer. This means I can't watch my Dish programming on the road.
Anyway if I try to reload IE9 it says it can't install because a newer version is already loaded. It does not appear on the program list under "add or remove programs"!
I have the google search engine redirect virus and am crossing my fingers that a solution can be found as i posted the appropriate logs inteh appropriate forum. However, based on the results from other members with the same problem, I am not too confident. So I guess my next option is to reinstall my Windows 7 pro, but i don't have the recovery disk ( I have a pavilion dv8 Hewlett packard). So do i go to the store and buy Windows 7 and reinstall it? One of my drives is called recovery, but i don't know what is in it. there is a folder called recovery, but when I click it, it gives me a warning that my partitions will be formatted. no files.
Every time I rip a CD album I cannot add the album info & the album disappears off the the player once I've shut it down. Also an auto playlist I created a while back has stopped work & I can't delete it. I'm thinking I need to reinstall the player.
Recently my computer has a problem, I want to try to reinstall the system. But I do not know how to do! Who has a simple method to reinstall the system?I just need win7 Home Edition?
I just spent the last half day fixing a laptop, had to buy a new hard drive and reinstall the OS from recovery discs. (Win 7 64 bit, on Satellite Toshiba) I just noticed that I did not install it with a partition for the OS, Is this going to be a big problem at some point? I had checked off "Factory Settings" when installing, I just assumed that it would have installed with a partition. Before I go any further with this laptop I would like to have some input please. I just spent the last 3 hours installing updates and finally SP1.
My computer was blue screening, freezing, locking up, etc so I took it to a repair shop and to make sure all the hardware was ok. All the tests passed but the problems were still continuing. They eventually decided to reinstall my OS which is Windows 7 and everything's been working fine except my computer is a lot slower and frequently feels laggy where they mouse would freeze up for a few seconds or move slowly across the screen. I have already tried cleaning out my registry with CCleaner and tried defragmenting but to no avail. I was wondering if there is another way to solve my computer lag problem.
So, for performance reasons I need to wipe and reinstall windows on my laptop. Do I need to buy a new registration code [$$ ] or will windows recognize that the computer is the same and let me use the same key??
