View 5 RepliesIs there a way to make the folder icons look like the windows XP folder icons, where the folders are flat instead of skewed, and showed 1 to 4 picture thumbnails? Its awfully difficult for someone like me who has a huge amount of categorization to find what he is looking for due to the lack of functionality that the folder thumbnails have in this version of Windows. Yeah, sure they look all pretty, but its difficult to even figure out what the general picture contents of the folder is unless you're already very familiar with it.

View 1 Replies View Relatedhere a very strange problem that happen JUST with ONE user. All the other users, administrator included, do not have this problem. So I think it is not a system wide problem, just one user (ME, sadly) problem.I pretty much tryed a lot of stuff to try to fix this problem, without no luck. Here what happen.Desktop icon problem, when I do log on or logoff (or when I do reboot the computer and I do load the affected user) icons reset, themeself on the left side of the desktop and with the Aligne Icon to the Grid. And NO, the View/Automatically place the icons (or something like that, I do not use English language) it is not selected. Also if I select any option, they are always resetted to an evident "default" for my user I never ever configured.Folder problem. It is similar and probably connected to the other problem, like a particular switch loaded on this user and just this user that reset everything to this default I never choosed. If, for example, I do choose to personalize folder details (example to have both date changed and date accessed for a folder), it will work for as long as the window stay open, then If I close and reopen it, it go to a default and that default is not choosed by me. This happen for any folder.

View 1 Replies View RelatedRecently I've used Hyperdesk (Hyperdesk: The ultimate desktop themes for Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, skins, icons, wallpapers, widgets, desktop themes for Disney, Pixar and Star Trek, themes for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable and more!) but eventually disliked it and uninstalled again. Since then most of my standard Windows 7 icons are missing/not showing up.
I tried rebuilding the icon cache with tutorials posted on this site = no luck.
Also tried a restore point, still no luck. Have attached 2 screenshots for you
All else is running smoothly and I don't really want to reinstall all Windows just because of a few icons not showing up

As you can see I know have a picture of Jason Derulo as my Downloads icon because i had an mp3 in there.
I knew how to do it for vista but I can't find anything for this.
When my computer finishes starting up, it ends with what looks like blobs of colored pixels in a line at the top of my screen. This happened for the first time tonight and I have no clue what happened. I took out my video card and plugged my monitor into the mother boards vga slot. Same result. Then i used a HDMI cable from my monitor to my motherboards HDMI slot. Still, with the same result. I plugged my Xbox 360 up to monitor with the HDMI cable and it looks fine so it's not on the monitor's end.
When the computer is loading, the screen stays black. Then when my desktop would normally show is when the pixels show up and the rest of the screen is black.
I have a very big problem with my display. Occasionally different colored dots are visible on my display in different places. They are like this: It isn't because of the cables, or the display, as when I click next to them, they disappear. So I guess it is about the Graphic Card. Type: AMD Radeon HD 6800 Series.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased a computer in Sept 2012 from Dino PC in the UK where I live. It has been running very well apart from an irritating red dot problem. My pc has an Intel i5 3570k processor (not over clocked) which has no additional graphics card and runs using the on board graphics HD 4000. I don't play computer games. I have connected my monitor (a Hanns G HG 216D) to another computer to check that my monitor or cables were not at fault and the lines of red dots do not appear.
I have my monitor connected to the pc with a VGA cable but I have also connected my monitor to my pc with 2 different HDMI cables and the red dots still appear. I have also connected my pc to a tv to use as a monitor with a different HDMI cable and the red dots still appear. These red dots didn't appear immediately when I first had the pc. I believe that they began to appear once I started updating my pc with the latest windows 7 updates (x64 bit).
The red dots appear horizontally across the monitor screen each time I switch on the pc at the very bottom edge of the screen (in small columns) then when the Asus screen appears (motherboard is Asus p8z77-V LX) in a single line horizontally across the middle of the screen, then again in a single line horizontally when the windows 7 start up screen appears. They then appear again if I have an image in the centre of the screen which is a dark block.
In this case they are grouped together in a horizontal block about 4 dots high and about 30 dots wide to the centre right of the dark area. The line of dots only appears horizontally and in red on dark screens. Occasionally I have seen the same lines of dots on a light coloured block in the centre right of the screen when the dots are pale blue and in the same formation. If I move the mouse over the red dots when they appear in a centre block of a dark colour the red dots momentarily disappear.
Folder and file icons are becoming invisible but its working correctly. Its so annoying.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI don't think this is exactly related to customization, but rather maybe the way Windows 7 handles file paths. I have an external HD with many folders with custom icons. On my PC the drive letter which is always assigned is G. Now, when I use it on a friend's PC, which assigns drive letter E, all my custom folder icons disappear. Note that all the relevant .ico files are where they're supposed to be (inside the folders whose icons they should customize). I'm assuming Windows always tries to locate the icons on a G: drive, which only exists on my PC but not on my friend's (where it's E). How can I change that?
View 1 Replies View Relatedis it possible to group multiple icons which have been pinned to the taskbar into a folder? so when hovering over the folder it should open to show what is in it?
for example could i put internet explorer, google chrome, and mozilla firefox into a folder so there is not 3 icons but jsut one?
I have put custom folder icons (pictures basically), for some of my folders. I can see the custom folder icons, But when other computers on my network access the folders (they are shared), they can't see the custom icons. All the see are the default folder icons.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I start my PC up a line of red dots appears across the monitor screen at the bottom of it. The line of dots again appears but higher up the screen when the windows screen appears. Both screens are dark in colour. Also if I have a block of dark colour anywhere with a light coloured background about 3 or 4 lines (each line directly above the other) of red dots appear across most of this block of a dark colour but none in the light coloured background. In all cases the red dots do not form a continuous line across the screen. My pc has an Intel i5 3570k processor running at 3.4GHz (not over clocked) with onboard intel HD4000 graphics. I do not have a separate graphics card.

View 9 Replies View RelatedThis is not a problem occurring in any browser or in the BIOS or during the boot screens. It doesn't seem to affect any normal windows software (by which I mean microsoft products included with Win7.) I notice it primarily in things like Malwarebyte's, Spybot S&D, Alcohol 120%, and a few others. I'm hoping it's a font issue or something but I can't seem to get any reasonable search results anywhere. The problem is the text displayed by the above programs is often covered in random dots; sometimes just one or two and sometimes enough to obscure whole words. They change if you highlight a word and they move as the text changes (as it does during a scan.) I saw a mention about dots and a crappy set-up video card with no external power; just the PCI-e slot power. I have a Sapphire HD4670 1GB card that I am disappointed with anyway. I used to run an older nVidia 8600GT... other specs Gigabyte 785G series board with a Phenom II x 2 550 BE, 12GB DDR3 1333mhz RAM, Win 7 Pro x64 with SP1 (problem existed with 4GB RAM and pre-SP1)
View 2 Replies View RelatedOkay, so a friend of my dad told him that he used to see the folder icons and labels in the left pane of Outlook 2007 in a bigger font/size before switching to a new computer with Windows 7. Obviously, we all know that upgrading Windows won't change font sizes that are coded into independent programs, so I'm thinking that maybe his old computer was running at a lower resolution. Anywho, my dad's friend asked my dad to ask me this question, and since I don't use Office 2007 anymore, I need to ask you: is there a way to change the size of the folder icons and labels in the left pane of Outlook 2007, without changing the size of anything else?

Ever since a computer crash, my computer starts up with pink lines horizontally when microsoft windows loads and is only displaying 16 colours. When trying to change the display settings, all the video card information is not being displayed. I suspect is a video card hardware malfunction but I could be wrong. When The computer starts, I get a message saying "Windows has not loaded properly perviously" and gives me the option to run the Windows Startup Repair. After running the Windows Startup Repair, it fails to fix the problem and I get the message below:
