Nov 27, 2009Any time I scroll throght a Pdf file.. The system freezes.. then thr dreaded BSOD.
Thus far the codes have been varied from BC d1 BC 50, etc..

7100 Will Not Shut Down, Or Reboot
Apr 24, 2009Recently upgraded to 64bit. Seems i have a little problem with both 7077 and 7100. The PC wont shut down, or restart, it just hangs. Occasionally it will restart but not often. Ive tried everything such as Bios checking, unplugging external equipement.
Its not any software ive installed, it even does it during setup. Will come to a part of setup where it needs to restart and it hangs, i have to manually restart it for setup to continue.
I hope someone has a clue as to what may be doing it, as i thought it was a 7077 bug and it turns out its more likely my PC then anything else.
Computer Randomly Shut Off, Won't Reboot
Oct 15, 2011last night i was just minding my own business watching Internet videos, until my computer just randomly restart. the tower was still fully powered but the operating system restart, and now i can't boot up windows! every time i try to boot it up i get a black screen with a flashing _ at the top and it just stays there, i've tried booting up in safe mode but that doesn't work! i put good money into this computer and there's allot of important files on it for my school work on it, i'm using a friend's laptop until then.

Jul 29, 2012I ran the lastest Windows updates on my PC and when it rebooted it was stuck on the "Configuring Windows do Not Shut Down" screen for hours. Finally, I shut down and the PC would not start up. I tried to do a system restore to before the Windows update, and got errors. However, the PC did start up (and actually said the restore worked), but not everything is functioning correctly on the PC (there is no HDMI sound for example and Google Chrome Updater will not connect to the internet). I tried to do another system restore from within Windows and got the error message in the attached screen shot.

Jan 22, 2013So my laptop was working fine last night, woke up this morning and this issue appeared. I'm guessing it's a virus (stupidly, I haven't installed an AVP on this machine yet). Anyways, I can't open anything. Doesn't matter where I try to open the program or file from. The load icon appears but nothing happens. I also can't access the task manager or shut down/log off/etc. from the start menu, I get a "Failure to display security and shut down options" error msg. I'm in safe mode with networking right now, which is allowing me to open programs. I've already tried a system restore but it didn't solve the problem.

I booted the installation disk and it was loading setup and it said the thier is no disk drive or partitions so i booted 7 back up and Googled it and it said something about raid drivers and SCSI or something needing to be updated... so i booted into setup and noticed that my SAta controler or waterva it is was set to raid so i set it to IDE and booted it this time after loading setup fles my partitions were there so i selected the 40 gb partition and pressed install it copied seup files for Windows xp and said rebooting... it rebooted and all i see is ( _ ) <-- that thing blinking forever so what do i do i've been googling it for ever and cant find what i want so either what do i do to fix it and install windows xp so it's working or just get rid of xp and it temporary copied install files

Aug 25, 2011So I'm trying to install Windows 7 via XP SP2 but every time I try it gets to the expanding files part(27%) and cancels the whole installation saying Windows could not prepare the computer too boot into the next phase. I ran a chkdsk scan on the drive and unplugged all USB devices and some people said that Windows couldn't find the HDD Controllers so I installed my chipset drivers too but still nothing.I can't really format these partitions(especially C: since I need the XP installation on it to install Win 7)What could be cause of this? I am able to install programs (ex: Skype, etc), but when I reboot my machine or turn it off and back again, the program I just installed does not appear on my hard drive at all. Any files I save (Word Document, Excel, favorites from Internet Explorer) doesn't appear or retain when I reboot my machine. Apr 20, 2012My computer hard drive crashed a week ago and most of my back-ups went with the system. So, I got a new 500 GB drive and have been re-installing everything from scratch. I started with a clean install of Windows XP (service pack 2), which took forever to get all the up-dates done. Then I upgraded to Windows 7 and did the up-dates for that. I didn't make a recovery disk at this point because I wanted to get everything installed first.Unfortunately, the last time I went to reboot it failed. Recently (this happened twice) whenever the power shuts down, the UPS makes a screeching noise every 2 seconds (compared with every 5 seconds earlier), the orange battery light flickers on and off, and five seconds later, it shuts down with the computer after the orange light turns red (indicating an emergency).However, when I switched on the UPS, waited for two minutes, then WITHOUT switching on the computer shut the power off, it reacts normally (ie turns to battery power without a hitch).So does this mean that it is unable to bear battery power while the computer is on? And if so, does this mean that I should discard this one and get it replaced? And another final thing - until I do so, should I disconnect this one from the PC in case it may adversely affect the power supply of the CPU?

Jun 13, 2012I'm running on a Windows 7 32 bit system, self built. Before I go into explain all of the details, here are my computer specs..My computer has been crashing a lot recently. It never use to happen, it just started within the past month or so. It's not a BSOD, there's no error, no warning.. Just black. When I start up, it's like nothing ever happened. But it's really annoying, whenever I begin to render a video, it crashes almost every time. It also stopped a few times while I was trying to play games and record, but I have recorded in the past. My computer use to be at it's prime but I don't know what changed. I could really use some advice to fix this. Any suggestions would help, I'm really wanting to render up all the footage I have.I do a lot of video game recording on my PC, I use the program bandicam. Also, my PC doesn't seem to be suffering from overheating, as the hard drive stays cool when it crashes.I keep about 50gb free space open on my computer to avoid extra errors.

When it usually shuts down by itself it reboots and it tells me that my computer has failed to start so I choose Start Windows Normally then when the Starting Windows Screen comes up my computer gets a differnet Blue Screen of Death. The issue is that any time I play ANY game, when I try to shut down the computer, it stays at the "Shutting Down" phase forever and then after 15-20+ min, sometimes it re-starts itself. Of note, is that when this happens and I manually shut the computer off, and turn it back on I get a "Windows has recovered from an unexpected shutdown" message. and the error ID is BlueScreen-something.
This does NOT occur when I use the PC for anything else such as browsing the internet. No matter what game it is, any time I play a game (not counting minesweeper, solitaire, etc), the computer will not shut down. All drivers seem to be up to date. Any ideas on what could be causing this?

I installed the drivers right from the CD and it worked well for a day or so until it randomly stopped working. I also couldn't shut down the computer as it would just hang there but I was able to shut down just fine the day before (With the Surfboard plugged in).Now that I have my new NIC installed, I can browse just fine, but I'm unable to shut down without it restarting on me. Jun 9, 2011I have Win 7 64-bit on my new system, and I've noticed that the HDD LED constantly chatters. It never goes even a second without some disk activity.
I can't compare this to XP, because my XP machine doesn't have an HDD LED (or it's broken, or it's not wired, whatever). My XP HDD is 8 years old and still going strong, though; and that's the sort of reliability I'd like in my new system. That's 8 years of almost 24/7.
In the Win 7 resource monitor, there's usually a bunch of processes using the disk; but if I remain quiet, the long term steady state comes down to NLS and System processes. I can (and may) disable NLS, but I can't disable System. If I suspend NLS when System is the only other process shown, then the disk usage graph clears, but the HDD LED flickering continues. If I suspend System, the LED flickering stops, but then I suffer the predictable consequences.
Not entirely related, I also noticed that early on, for the first several minutes after boot, I get a considerable number of page faults. Seems kind of silly since my RAM usage never goes over 15%, but it's not problematic. The page faults do cease eventually.
My questions are these:
1. Is this constant chatter a Win 7 thing, or does XP do this also?
2. Does anyone have insight as to why the System process would be constantly accessing the HDD and/or how I can stop it from doing so?
3. Since the I/O graph may be cleared (with patience), even though the LED activity continues, is it reasonable to believe that the LED activity is just a tease and no actual I/O is happening at that time?

Oct 20, 2011I recently purchased a ssd and I was curious if there was a way to have my computer automatically shut down after so many minutes of non use? From what I've read I could schedule it in the task scheduler, but I'm not looking for a certain time for it to shut down. Maybe a third party program?
