View 1 Replies View RelatedI started to do a full system recovery on my son's Acer Aspire 5750z, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit using the (4) Recovery DVD's we made when we bought it. Everything was working fine through the first three discs. I was called away while the third disc was in use (maybe 10 minutes) and when I got back to the machine, the window was up asking me to remove disc 3 and insert disc 4. I did, and in the 4 hours and 15 minutes since then, nothing has happened. The Acer eRecovery Management (v8.3.2) Window is up. Step 5 "Restore Progres" is highlighted. The elapsed time counter is continuing to run (currently at 5 hours 8 minutes and counting), the "Restoring System" bar is full and shows 100%, and the "Updating System" bar is stuck at 2%, which is where it was when I put in the 4th disc. I am tempted to shut down the laptop and start all over again, but I am afraid that it will mess something up if I do..

View 7 Replies View RelatedOkay, so I'm using Windows 7 64-Bit. It's flawless, and a bit of a show off, seeming as it already had all of the necessary drivers for all my PC components pre-installed. :P
One issue is the network card. I had a Netgear WPN311 card before, which I couldn't find the right drivers for, so I decided to put my old Belkin F5D7000 into the PCI port.
So.. basically.. I don't have any way of getting online, because I am literally unable to find drivers that suit Windows 7 64-Bit, and at the same time work on this Belkin card.
So this is the one thing I'm confused with.. The PC seems to pick it up as a 'Multimedia' device under device manager. I am completely at a loss what to do with it, and it's becoming very frustrating. If anyone can help me out, tell me what drivers to use for this or the Netgear one if that so happens to be necessary, I would be very, very grateful.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a 1 and a half year old Vaio with 32-bit Vista. I installed 32 bit Win 7 and discovered that i not longer can play Bluray Disks on it because the driver for the Nvidia GeForce 8400M GT is not compatible with Win7. I have installed "generic" Nvidia (but non-Sony sanctioned) drivers from several sites (using the modified .inf file)to no avail. I still cannot play BD movies. So "the one and only" source for an update to this driver is Sony and the say that they are no supporting this model (VGN-AR630E) for the Win7 transition.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI turned on my HTPC this morning and proceeded to Netflix for some streaming fun, and got the error message saying something was wrong with my account. Please login again. I tried. No good. I then proceeded to chat with a Netflix associate and after a lot of back and forth they said that Microsoft is no longer supporting Netflix in WMC. I have seen nor heard of anything recently to support this. Why then does Netflix still show up in WMC? I could find nothing on Microsoft's site that was even remotely close to what I was looking for.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Compaq Presario CQ56 64-Bit (Windows 7 Home Premium) laptop that I bought before the summer, today a Windows Update has given me an Acer display update published on the 28/12/2011. I thought because I had my vga cable plugged into the TV Windows Update may have become confused but despite checking for updates again it still appears there as optional.
AMD/ATI is recognized by Windows and Windows Update and there had already been a display driver update not so long ago, so I cannnot understand why I'm receiving an update for the wrong machine?
When i turn the computer on i get the screen : setup is starting service. Install Windows. The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install windows, click ok to restart the computer, and then restart the installation. I have contacted acer they tried to help with the ALT and F12. Nothing I have tried works.. They told me to order the recovery discs for $20.00. I did , and they dont work either... I contacted them back, and now they say to send it back to them and for $199.00 plus shipping, they will repair the computer..I do not have the money for that..I have the the system disc, the 3 recovery disc and the language disc , that I just ordered from Acer for $20.00.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I press down f10 and ALT at the same time during boot up from the factory recovery disk when seeing the splash screen, nothing happens and the 'acer laptap just boots from the regular hard drive as usual.

View 6 Replies View RelatedIt turned on like it usually does with the ACER logo on the screen, but it goes to a black screen came that said:
We apologize for the inconvenience, but windows did not start successfully. A recent hardware or software change might have caused this.
Followed by some more text, and then it asks how I would like to start windows up, in safe mode(s), last known good configuration, or start windows normally.
So I just select Start Windows Normally and it started to boot up, with the Microsoft Windows 7 loading screen. Then KABLAM! The black screen with the different options popped up AGAIN. I then tried every single other boot option, all the safe modes, everything, and every time it would show that black screen with the different boot options(that don't work). So I hit F8 and tried all the options in there, reboot, debugging mode, all of them, they all did the same thing and brought back to that dreaded black screen. I tried everything...except for the obvious destructive restart.I know I will probably have to do a complete restart of my computer, but before I do that, how can I backup data from a non-functioning laptop? Right before this happened, I was going to backup my data, but this happened. I know I need to do a backup all the time, but I was being dumb. I deserve this.
Just noticed they have windows 7 drivers on their website for anyone whos interested.

View 1 Replies View Relatedmy aspire 7741z needed a new hard drive, as well as the optical drive, I got both through Acer, I should have cut my losses and used it as a boat anchor. I didn't I bought to start up system disks and the recovery disks, They will not load, i get missing the operating system.
View 2 Replies View RelatedEverytime I switch on my Acer 5740 Laptop, after it reaches the POST screen displaying the Acer logo and Setup (F2) and Boot Selection Menu (F12) the laptop restarts over and over again and never stops. It has only been doing this since i installed a new program, after i installed it a blue screen appeared saying "STOP", and a bunch of other text but I couldnt make out what it said as the screen disappeared so fast. It is probably the work of a virus of some sort.I have already tried to boot from my recovery discs, but after the restoring the OS to factory settings, the same restart loop happens again. I cannot even access safe mode as it immediately restarts after displaying the acer logo. But I am however able to access the BIOS setup (f2) and the boot selection menu (f12). I know for certain that I have no hardware problems as the system was working perfectly with no errors up until I ran the program and feel that this may be the work of a virus. Here are the details of my Acer Aspire 5740 laptop that I have acquired via the Setup menu:
