Doing some gaming and when I exited my game, my computer locked up. So I restarted it, and it displayed a black screen saying that Windows was unable to start. Me, thinking it was just a random messup, I restarted, same thing. So, I tried to go into the Startup Repair, it "searched" for a good 30 mintues before telling me it couldn't do anything.

Yesterday I got this virus, I went and bought trend micro titanium and cleaned it up (was using a free30 day trial of something else) but I'm still having a problem. Whenever I go to shut down or restart my computer, it starts doing it like normal, but right at the end I get this blue screen with a bunch of messages written, it last about 5 seconds while a countdown happens at the bottom of the screen, then it restarts (even if I went Shutdown).
Sometimes minutes after I log back into the user, the blue screen comes up out of nowhere, does it's 5 second odd countdown and restarts. I should get minidump files. The countdown at the bottom of the blue screen is called "crash dump" or something like that. With the virus whenever I tried to open an internet explorer or google chrome window, all that would come up was "win 7 home security", I'm not getting that anymore though after doing the full scan with trend.
Additional info: I have windows 7, my pc is a HP Pavilion laptop, model number is DV6 - 2144TX

My friend has been having issues with her computer programs not responding. Everything will be fine and then all of a sudden Chrome, Firefox, Picasa, Windows Explorer, or whatever else she is in at the time will freeze up. It eventually unfreezes, but you have to walk away or else you'll go crazy waiting. Here are her specs from Speccy(UrL)

I tried reinstalling windows and formatting the hard drive. That works for about 3 days till windows installs its huge update. Then it starts freezing again. So then I do a system restore to a day before those updates happened, when the computer was fine and I turn off updates. It now becomes very slow for five minutes and then freezes. Now it won't even take me to the login screen. I am almost a 100% sure it isn't a virus since I always have malwarebytes Microsoft security essentials and avast on, and I really haven't gone to any shady sites in the last 3 days. I am running windows 7 64 bit

Have a Compaq CQ61-313us. For some reason the USB ports don't work after reboot. If I go to device manager, and disable, then reable them one by one, they'll work fine until reboot and I'm back to errors on them. I also can uninstall them and have windows find them again, works fine, until I reboot again. I'm about to give up.They all say "This device cannot start. (Code 10)" until I reinstall. Have done all my updates and mutiple scans with mutiple malware /virus programs.

k, so a few months ago i installed Windows 7 RC and windows XP in a dual-boot different partition.
2 days ago i formated my win 7 RC installation and installed Windows 7 7600, of-course after a while i realized win xp is no longer in my boot0-load anymore and i have no idea how to use EasyBCD in 7 to make xp come back, if there is a way. And i don't want to reinstall XP, that would be to easy same time i would have to reinstall a lot of programs again .
So, anyone have any idea how to repair this mess ?

I recently purchased a wireless router and we have three laptops and a desktop using it. All other stay connected except my notebook which has windows 7. I also recently downloaded skype to talk to family overseas. Almost every time I am having a conversation, I suddenly lose the connection. However, I lose a connection at other times also. Skype doesn't have to be running for it to lose the connection. There seems to be no ryhme or reason for this. I ran a scan on my virus protection, but it reveals no threats. I am not so computer savvy either, only the basics.

i currently have a hdd with vista and Windows 7 on it
vista was on it originally and i shrunk this partition to allow me to put 7 on
my question is, when i come to delete vista, will the computer boot straight into Windows 7?
does Windows 7 have its own bootloader or do i need to do some sort of transfer?

have a Dell Inspirion 1525 with Windows 7 RC dual booting with MacOS 10.5.8 on two separate partitions on one 160GB drive.
Windows 7 has been running great since installing on release day, this morning after i turned my laptop on, i got to the Windows bootloader, selected Windows 7, it then goes to a blank screen with the hard drive light constantly on. left it for about 10 minutes, nothing.
my MacOS install on the second partition still works 100%.
i tried a few things, startup repair from the Win 7 install DVD, it sees my Win 7 install on C: but gave an error saying it couldn't fix, the error report mentioned something about "startuprepairoffline" & "NoOSinstalled".
then tried a system restore from the disk, says it couldn't find any restore points (?!)
then tried to fix the mbr via recovery console, says it did the fix, but still won't boot.

My work laptop that has pointsec (disk encryption) on it, which is the first thing that loads.
If I was to install Windows 7 onto a external usb HD, would it overwrite the bootloader on the internal laptop HD?
Should I go into the Bios and try to disable the internal drive (not sure i can get to the bios)?

Ive been using a hard disk with XP Pro installed first partition and Vista Ult installed second partition. Yesterday I installed Win 7 Home premium on first partition where XP was installed. During installation I deleted the first partition and created new one for the win 7 installation. Obviously XP is gone, dont care.
Win 7 is booting fine. Problem is I cant boot from Vista which is in second partition D. No vista entry on bootloader. PC boots from Win 7 straight away. I used easyBCD to add vista entry but no luck.
QUESTION: How to get my Vista back?

I've divided my disk into partitions and accidentally removed bootloader of windows and now I get "boot mgr is missing", so I cant load my windows. I have a disk and put boot order in BIOS but it still does not give me an opportunity to install windows, so I have only openSUSE right now, and 2 partitions of windows with C: and D: disks. How to restore this bootloader or at least make install windows 7?

I installed Windows 7 over Vista yesterday (fresh install). I had to first recover the MBR which was annoying (I would've thought it would do this itself), but anyway..
Windows 7 started just fine.
However, when re-recovered the bootloader from Linux, and when I now try to boot into Windows, it goes straight to Windows system recovery. Any ideas how to stop this?
Clearly it's booting to the right partition in the right way (as it's going to windows), but Windows 7 seems to just not want to boot into normal mode. What should I do?

I have recently been having difficulties with connecting with my wireless connection. We have a in-home router that is connected to two computer's downstairs by cable. I however own a Acer, Windows 7 laptop that I mainly use upstairs and I get a Excellent signal strength.I have connected to my Home wireless connection before with no problem but recently the connection keeps coming up as ~Identifying... No Internet Access. Also when I have had connection to this network prior to this problem the connection is under Home. But when I try to connect to the same network it comes up as Public or just keeps Identifying. I have the connection set to Connect Automatically. Also the yellow triangle with the exclamation point almost always pops up immediately when I reboot my system or after I Disconnect and Connect the network again. I have tried Disabling and Enabling the network in the adapter settings and this does not work either. In the manage wireless networks tab, I have repeatedly deleted the connection and reentered the security password and again put it as automatically connect but it still comes up as Identifying. I have seen many people with this same problem and have tried many of the suggestions to no avail. It is rather bizarre because my connection will be in this Identifying state for a while and randomly connect properly and I have no idea what makes it go off and on so erratically. I just had it working again for a few days and it is again acting up.

Boot loader is missing from HD. I entered the windows repair from dvd, and it finally showed the windows installation, C:Windows (recovered). Tried selecting it again to have windows reinstall MBR, but now it says version is not compatible. So, needless to say, I can't proceed any further. The only thing I can figure is the the windows dvd is both x86 and x64, thereby not recognizing that I have the x64 installed.

I originally had windows 7 professional 64 bit on my laptop. I had a 10 Gb partition, which I divided in SWAP and / mount to install Ubuntu Linux. My computer now loads into Grub loader. All is well, its just now I want to get rid of Linux. (I will install it on desktop and mess around with it there.) I wanted to know how to get rid of the Grub loader.
I googled it and found that you can restore the windows (didn't find anything for windows 7) bootloader using the installation disk and going into repair. The instructions however were all for windows xp and few for vista. I want to know if it will work for Windows 7. I don't have a windows 7 DVD. I have a Windows 7 professional upgrade disk 64 bit. My Vista came pre loaded on the laptop, and i have recovery disks for it. Will I be able to do it from the Windows 7 upgrade disk.

Here's my setup:
Corrupt Vista install on Primary HD
Win 7 (and soon to be Linux and maybe XP) on a second.
I want to be able to take out the primary hd to move it to a NAS unit and just have the second hd in. Problem is, the current bootloader is on the Vista drive. I need to know if there is a way to move this to the Win 7 HD without having to reinstall Win 7 at this time, though I know I will have to when it is released.

I was connected to my neighbors wireless network via Linksys for several months, but after he had it shut off and reconnected they gave him a different IP address, ID and password. I have all the passwords and the signal shows up, but it is continually "aquiring a network address". Does he have to change something in his settings to allow access once again?

see the attachment for the icon with the exclamation mark.
Even though I have connection to the Internet and my wireless Network is active, the exclamation mark and the accompanying message remain. This morning I have been on the computer for three hours, for example, and I just made the screen shot. This condition has existed on a Toshiba laptop since "day one,' a number of months now.
The icon is of no value, if it doesn't change to "connected" when appropriate.
