Network Settings Will Not Stay
when i was running the windows 7 rc, everything ran well with my network settings.
today, i received my windows 7 party pack and installed the os. whenever i reboot the computer, i don't have internet access. i have to go to network and sharing center to go to the ipv4 settings to input the default gateway everytime. my nic is the integrated realtekRTL8168/8111 Family PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC. at first, i used the microsoft drivers from the os. i did update to the realtek drivers, but the same thing is happening.
i've also ran various ipconfig commands, but nothing i've been able to do seems to help. anything i'm missing?

Calibrated Display Settings Don't Stay
I just bought a new laptop. Samsung brand. It has Windows 7 Home Premium on it. I know this is a known issue with Win 7. I calibrated my monitor and saved the settings but when the computer hibernates, goes to sleep, or shuts down the display settings revert back to the factory settings. I've heard that the "Intel Common User Interface Module" aka "igfxpers.exe" is the culprit. However, most users have found that if they disable it in the startup tab of "msconfig" this solves the issue. But, this program is not listed under my startup tab. Does anyone know anything about this issue and how the heck I can find this program and get rid of it?

Why Won't Color Calibration Settings Stay
I got a new monitor recently - a Viewsonic VA2333-LED. I found that I didn't like the color settings and was not able to get the right color/gamma/brightness and contrast settings by using the monitor's menu. I have an Nvidia card, so next thing I did was to edit the color settings through the Nvidia control panel to just how I like them, I selected "Use NVIDIA settings", hit apply and saved the new settings. Looked great until I had to reboot my computer or it went into stand by at which point mysteriously the "Use NVIDIA settings" would become unchecked and my color was back to being an overexposed, bright white mess. Next I tried the WIndows Color calibration. I went through the process saved the new color profile and set it as the default. Then, lo and behold, after my computer went to stand by, the color was right back to being crap. I even went so far as to delete the default profiles completely, leaving only my adjusted profile set as default. But again, when the monitor goes to stand by, the color settings that I created are lost. Here's the strangest part, when I enter the WIndows 7 color management screen, it still shows my profile as selected (even though clearly my settings are not applied). I have to uncheck the "Use my settings on this device" box and then recheck it and voila, my settings are back. And on top of that, my settings are only lost about 50% of the time that my computer goes to stand-by. On reboot, they work properly, but get lost half the time when the computer enters stand-by.

Switching Keyboard Settings (russian And English) Do Not Stay?
Im setting up a computer for a family that is Russian and English speaking.I have installed the Russian keyboard under region and language settings. I can set either to default. The problem is, when I do shift+alt to switch to Russian, it always changes back to English when clicking on a new window. I assume that is by design as English is default. What I want is NO default. If someone switches it to Russian I want it to STAY in russian no matter what window they are in, and vise versa for English.

Dual Monitor Settings Won't Stay Applied?
I have a second monitor plugged in to my laptop. The first monitor on my laptop is 1366x768, and the second monitor plugged in by VGA is 1400x900. The setting I choose is "Show desktop only on 2". When I go to close the lid on my laptop, monitor 1 disappears from the available monitors, but reappears when I open it again. What happens, is that it reverts back to "Extend these displays" but I still want it to only "Show desktop only on 2" by default. I just upgraded to Windows 7 from Vista, and I didn't have this issue in Vista. For some reason, my first monitor is reactivating itself and my display settings are changing without me doing anything to them. I have to go back every time to change it to show only on monitor 2.

Computer Will Not Stay Connected To Router/network?
My computer has been acting up lately,I haven't made any changes to my computer or anything but it seems to just not want to connect to the inter for more than 5 min. My othe computer on the house seems to connect fine, but mine will only connect for 5 min the can't find the network for 15 min and it does this repeatedly. I tried updating the drivers but there were no updates available. I ran the troubleshooter and it couldn't find a problem, it just said to make sure I was in range of the router, which I am because my computer was working fine in the same spot about a week ago.

Wireless Network Won't Stay Connected
I've done manual reconnection (NEVER WORKS) and Troubleshooting (hardly ever works). I've tried disabling and reenabling the wireless and restarting the computer. Nothing can seem to prevent these problems from happening. Sometimes the network won't even show up! I can't fathom how it's possible to SOMETIMES detect the network and SOMETIMES connect to it. I've thought of purchasing a repeating (quite pricey if you ask me) or perhaps using an antenna extension cable. Not sure either would be successful in alleviating my problem. Finally, and the most odd thing, is that when the router was in the basement, I actually got a better signal even though it was LOWER than before. Not sure if this was because it was connected directly to the phone box, but the router is back on the first floor and the problem persists daily.

Work Lenovo Laptop Will Not Stay Connected On Home Network
I hope someone can help me with this. I work from home (office is 70 miles away), and my Lenovo T420 Windows 7 will not stay connected via WiFi to my Verizon MI424WR ver I router. I had this problem with my old router (MI242WR rev E), and I was able to fix it by turning off the Power Management option to "power off to save power" My Lenovo is using Centrino Advanced-N 6205 Wifi chip. It reads as "working properly". It seem obvious that there is an issue between the Lenovo and the new MI424. I have 10 other devices connecting to the MI424 without a problem. I have shut down devices to ensure that their is not an over burdening the AP issue. Specifically, the Lenovo successfully pairs with the MI424, tries to establish an Internet connection, fails, and drops the connection (or the router does - I assume it is the laptop.) It's worked great for about 4 hours this am, then it quit working. I: - shutdown the laptop, pulled power and battery - shut off the network, pulled the plug and let it sit for a while - restarted everything and the issue will not go away It works fine @ work with a Cisco Network. My company uses some McAfee SW for laptop security. Since I was blissfully working for hours and this just started up, I do not think that has anything to do with it.

Could someone please guide me with instructions on how to reinstall the typical options (i.e.broadband, dsl, dial-up adapters) or perhaps where I download them and the reinstall them onto my computer? I currently have dsl connection available that was previously working (a Westell wireless modem model #A90-750015-07) supplied thru my ISP Verizon. the modem has been verified to be functioning properly.

Delete Unwanted Network Settings?
I've just installed a new draft N wifi router to replace my previous B/G router. Perhaps foolishly, I kept the same name for my home network. My new Acer TravelMate, which has draft N capability, was happy (but slow) on the old system and works OK when I connect it to the new router by ethernet. However when I to connect it via wifi it says "The settings saved on this computer for the network do not match the requirements of the network".

Network Places Remembering Old IP Settings After Reboot?
So, I have a class "A" IP Subnet in my home and a class "C" subnet. one is outside the "corporate" firewall and one is inside. My Laptop wireless always loves to obtain the 10.0.0.1 which is the ISA router/firewall. Obviously there is an IP conflict here because the TMG/ISA server/GATEWAY already has that.. This only happens after a reboot and the IP settings that it "desires" are the following: IP: 10.0.0.1 Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 Gateway: 192.168.1.1 DNS: 192.168.1.1 It should be.... IP: 10.0.0.101 Subnet Mask: 255.0.0.0 Gateway: 10.0.0.1 DNS: 10.0.0.4 = MY DNS DNS: 10.0.0.5 = MY DNS Should I delete the network controller, or do I have to delve into the registry to get this crap sorted out? The Laptop ALWAYS connects to the N router but has a problem assigning the IP where it will just assign a bad IP or "first ip" in the sequence. There are times that I need to get beyond the firewall, and I need to assign it a class "c" but I don't understand why this should be having a bearing upon future connections. I have repeatedly reset the "arp" and DNS; to no avail. I have typed this command at my last chance: "netsh int ip reset c: esetlog.txt"

I still have the same problem despite having set the following settings... In "Change Plan Settings" ----------------------------- Dim display: 5 min Turn off display: 10 min Sleep: Never [Code]..... Are there any other settings I've missed that could be causing my card to shut down as soon as my display cuts off? Or is this a bug in Windows 7 Pro?

So i restarted my computer, only to have it start exactly where it left off. I was sure to completely turn off my computer, then it started over when I turned it back on. After unplugging my internet, it skipped the process.*

Unable To Save Default Gateways In Network Settings
I want to save the Default Gateways in Advance TCP/IP Settings for my network adapter. I used the following sequence to set the values: 1. Open Adapter Settings (LAN Properties). 2. Select IPv4 and click on Properties. 3. Click Advance. 4. In the Popup select to add Default Gateways for both my Wired and Wireless network. 5. Click OK to close all open windows. When I again open the settings, the changes in Default Gateways are all gone. The default gateway for both my wired and wireless network are same and both are connected to internet. I want to prefer wired over wireless whenever it is connected. I already tried changing Interface Metrics with no use at all. I searched the internet and got the information to select the default gateways with proper metrics.

Windows 7 Network Settings - Specified Service Does Not Exist As Installed
I booted up my Win 7 (32 bit) PC this morning and noticed that it was not connecting to my wireless network. I went to check the network settings in device manager and I got the message "The specified service does not exist as an installed service". I can see the file devmgmt.msc in the C:WindowsSystem32 folder, but when I run it from there I get the same message "The specified service does not exist as an installed service". I am also seeing this same message when I insert my Windows 7 CD and try and re-run the setup. Even if I try to run anything as an administrator, I get this message "The specified service does not exist as an installed service". Is this some sort of Malware? Is there any way of recovering from this?

Windows Network Diagnostics - Proxy Settings Not Automatically Detected
I have recently run a virus scanner from mcaffee stinger. I had several virusus and it removed them. Although there gone I had just booted my laptop and it wont let me connect to the internet. It said limited access on the icon. I troubleshooted the windows network diagnostics and it said this. Problem found windows could not automatically detect this networks proxy settings. Whatever I try to run as administrator it will come up with an error saying C:/Windows/system32/cmd.exe <-that was an example the name changes for different items. I basically cant use it at all now. I go to the control panel and click right click properties to disable and it will come up with the same error. It also said windows has encountered an error saving the wireless profile specific error: the data is invalid.

Can't Change Quota Settings On Attached Network Drive

So, I have two folders in this drive: TV Shows Movies combined there is just 500gb. So, the Seagate NAS tells me the drive is full. I right click on the drive and chose properties. I then chose Quota Settings. Here it says: To change these settings click Quota settings. I do this anf nothing happens. It looks as if this option is to prevent one user from filling the drive. I also connected a WD NAS and the same option appears.

Now when windows loads it fails to load my Proxy Settings. Then I run the troubleshooter and it tells me this: Windows could not automatically detect this network's proxy settings So I tried all the netsh resets and it didnt help. Tried winsock. Nothing helped. Went into DevManager and nothing is grayed and no exclamations.I uninstalled the drivers for the net card and wifi card and restarted to let them reinstall. Nothing still. I opened Network Connections, NOTHING shows up. I also overwrote the Sys32 file nlasvc.dll and nothing happened.

Easily Backup & Import Your Wireless Network Settings In Windows 7
One of the biggest annoyances when setting up wireless networks is remembering the security key and typing it correctly so that you can connect all laptops and netbooks to it. Windows 7 makes it easy to export your wireless settings from one machine to another. The backup of the wireless networks settings can be easily done from Windows 7, and the settings can be saved to a USB stick, and then the settings can be imported on laptops & netbooks running Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7.

I have gone into advanced power settings and turned off sleep, and made sure all my settings look right. I have also gone to device manager and un-checked the "allow this device wake computer" box for the mouse. The monitor still comes on when you touch the mouse. What else could be making the monitor come on? How do I make the mouse so it's less sensitive or disable it so you have to hit the keyboard to turn on the monitor?

How To Get Taskbar To Stay Hidden
I have the setting "Hide Taskbar" selected, yet I find it often refuses to stay hidden. It seems like sometimes it will do this when an application/window wants to "tell me something", like that there's a new email (sometimes even when the "envelope" that indicates new mail isn't in sight), but sometimes it just seems to stay up for no reason, and I have to close all the windows one by one to get rid of it. Is there any way to get the Taskbar to Stay Hidden unless I'm mousing over it?
