Does Windows keep a log of when the computer was started up and shut down?If so I would like to know how I can view it, or, if not, whether I can do this by enabling some feature or installing some software.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an HP Z800 Workstation with Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. When I start the computer it seems to be ready in somewhere under a minute after the desktop comes on, meaning there are no spinning circles the mouse moves smoothly etc. However if I try to launch one of the programs in the taskbar, Firefox, Thunderbird, it takes at least seven to ten minutes for the program to come on and be ready. At this point if I click Start>All Programs it is completely empty with no icons or folders at all in there and will be for about the same amount of time. The Start menu freezes open like that and all I can do is to wait. And wait I do because it makes it much worse if I hold in the power button and turn the computer off because then I can usually not go past that black screen that comes on for a brief second before it goes on the desktop. I have very few things that are active in msconfig so I have no idea what's going on and why the computer takes so long to start.

ive checked on the services and there is nothing specific running in the backgroup just the usual group policies. this issue is happening to about 5 out of 100 ppl in the company.
When I click the start button my pc restarts everyime without warning or error. I have formatted it and it does no good. I am using windows 7 64 bit sp1.

By skips, I mean the audio glitches and makes an annoying sound, the video freezes for a fraction of a second before catching up, etc. I was working on a video editing project last night, for instance, and this problem got really bad then. Now it happens whenever I try to play music through iTunes, or even a video online. So far, I have tried updating video card drivers, checking for updated chipset drivers, checking for possible overheating - nothing has helped. The Computer: I just bought the base components for this computer and received them in the mail less than a week ago. View 2 Replies View Relatedi'm running my sound through a line 6 kb37 interface and out through some studio monitors. however yesterday after having spotify on from 30 - 60mins the sound stopped, spotify crashed, i tried to restart and explorer.exe couldn't shutdown because it was stuck trying to play the logoff sound. i force restarted it and it turned into a bsod. today the same thing has happened after about 30mins of watching a film. the sound stopped and media player crashed. i tried to watch a Internet video after this and it wouldn't buffer it and crashed my browser. i checked my device manager and it said all my sound devices were working properly

I have tried using NT Password & Registry Editor and it says password has been changed but when I try logging in it still says wrong pw. Also I notice this completely took off the option to log into my account I created it was not listed on the log in screen until I did a restore from a repair disc I created.But that obviously did not help the password problem.I am running Win 7 Home Premium on a Gateway ID49C07u. If there is a way to completely restore the computer back to factory instead of finding the password this is no problem.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have Windows 7 Ultimate 32Bit, 3GB RAM, AMD Athlon 64x2 Dual core processor, Basically computer will load up fast when booting and even logging in, I have changed settings in msconfig to speed boot, BUT if I lock the computer and log back in it takes around 2-3 minutes for the computer to getting running again just a really big lag especially Google Chrome, when I lock the computer I usually have like 5 programs running WMP, Chrome, Email and maybe steam and xfire running in background.

Windows 7 ultimate 64bit was installed on SSD, and a partition on HDD was allocated for virtual memory.It ran everything with no problems. but when I log off, the computer was freezes, and monitor didn't get signal. Then,try to press 'Num Lock' button, not responsing, seems the keyboard already doesn't work. I also have tried to unpluged the cable of keyboard and repluged it, Keyboard still doesn't work.The computer back to normal after restart by pressing 'reset' button, but this trouble will occour again just need a logging off.

I did this due to a failure to boot up Windows (this a 3 year old computer and it has had issues software related in th past ) I installed Windows 7 again, but Now every time I try to work on I it freezes wit no warning at all between 2-5 min of logging in. How to know what is going on wrong? Is it a CPU issue? Video card? Memory?

I've tried safe mode, I've tried system restores, but they both failed. I'd supply you with crash logs, but I'm not entirely sure how.All attempts at a system restore failed and came up as an error, and when I tried to do a disk check, it said my disc was write protected.Let me know if there is any more information I can supply.

It only happens when the cam is on. Is there a way to stop this? I'm trying to play around with the options and what not but its quite difficult to do when the computer keeps logging my account off. Around 3 weeks ago it started getting stuck on the shut down screen, and then it wouldn't shut down or restart from the start menu. This meant I had to remove the battery or hibernate the netbook when I wasn't using it. I fixed this so it would shut down by doing a system restore from a previous restore point. However after a week it's gone back to not shutting down from the start menu. Acer told me to do a complete system restore, but I'd rather not because I need all of my files for my uni work.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm at my whit's end with this. My PC shuts down fine but hangs on restart. It does this is both safe and normal mode. It appears to hang right before the HD would get turned off. The SHUTTING DOWN screen proceeds fine and the HD stops it's activity, the screen goes black (the HD light stays) and it just hangs there. Pressing the RESET button on the PC starts it up fine. If I am restarting from some utility (for example when installing Windows) it can hang with the RESTARTING WINDOWS screen.

Upon booting, I was given a screen to enter the bitlocker recovery key. I tracked it down and entered it into the laptop. The laptop then tried to boot, but blue screened. In typical MS fashion, the blue screen showed for about 1/352352th of a second so I couldn't get any real information about the error.
I tried the boot system recover option that the os presented. I tried the option to recover from the last recovery point or to recover the other way. Each time the system booted back to the same problem.
