Installing Windows 7 On Laptop?

Nov 18, 2011

there is problem occurring while installing Windows 7 to my laptop. I have formatted the all three drives then delete the two drives and now only one drive is present of 298 GB. But while I try to create the partition by pressing new nothing happens. The format option has gone. And while I try to to install the Windows 7 in the same 298 GB drive - it says -- setup was unable to use the existing partition because it does not contain the required free space.

2.) Install XP on partition #2

3.) Install 7 upgrade on partition#1 which will see XP on partition #2

4.) Once install is over delete partition#2 and recreate partition#2 as 80GB

Installing Windows 7 On Laptop Drive?

Oct 27, 2011

The drive on my laptop when down so I got a new one and since I have 7 on a disk thought I would put it on the new drive. So I plugged in my drive when to bios set the boot order to go from the CD/DVD rom first and a screen came up that said bootmgr missing hit ctr-alt-del. So I tried using the recovery disks that came with the computer and the same think, it won't boot from the rom drive. So I put the drive in my PC and it showed up fine and worked perfectly. So I was wondering can I plug the laptop drive into my PC and install windows 7 on it while it is plugged into my pc without messing up the windows that is installed on my PC? When I put the 7 disk in my PC it shows up just fine like it should so I was wondering if this is possible or if it would hurt anything on my PC?

Laptop Slow / Freezes Since Installing Windows 7

Feb 24, 2012

My laptop used to run XP, something got corrupted and I got the blue screen of death. I took it to my brother (who is a network administrator) to fix it. He couldn't figure out how to fix or restore whatever system file was corrupted in XP, so he backed up my documents & program files, and then installed Windows 7. He then dumped all of those backed up files into a folder on my C drive called OLD FILES. It has been super slow and occastionally freezes since that time.

The C drive is almost full. I am certain that I have multiple copies of the same files and programs, and have the files for old software that I do not need or use. I cannot uninstall many of them because they were not installed, they were copied. I have tried many utilities in an attempt to find the duplicate files, or to clean up old data, and to speed up the system, but I only see minor improvements

Also, I have very little free space on the hard drive. however I am so afraid of deleting the wrong file or program and being back where I started when it crashed. I need advice on what I should do to fix this situation. Should I leave the OS as is, or change back to XP? And how can I determine which program filess are actually being used and which are duplicates?

I have thought about just buying a new laptop but that is not really an option at this time. So what do I need to do to make this laptop A) run faster and B) clean out all those duplicates and extra files I do not need.

Getting BSOD Errors After Installing Windows 7 On Laptop?

Aug 1, 2012

Just kind of confused about the BSOD errors. Just installed Windows 7 last night to this laptop and I immediately started getting them. I tried getting debugging tools to read the .dmp files, but that just wasn't working. Then I tried working with BlueScreenView and I accessed all the .dmp files that I've acquired, six in total. Each seemed to have different files highlighted red, though I noticed one file that all of them had been highlighted red; NT Kernel & Systems. My only guess to fix this problem would be to just reinstall Windows, or would there be an easier way to fix this problem?

Installing SSD In Asus Laptop?

Jun 20, 2012

I recently bought an Asus N55SL laptop. It came pre-installed with Win 7 Home Premium on a 750GB drive.I bought a 120GB SSD, and would like to replace the HDD with it. The HDD came with a recovery partition on it, When I started the laptop for the first time, I made Asus recovery disks that can be used to restore the laptop to factory conditions. However, when i try to use those to recover to the SSD, it appears to work, but when it's "setting up windows for first time use" it goes into a rebooting loop. I'm assuming that the disk image made by the recovery program on the 750gb HDD can't be applied to the 120gb SSD. I've read that SSds work better with fresh installs of Windows anyway. So, how can I install windows on my SSD using the Win 7 product key that came with my laptop? I tried installing another copy of Win7 Home Premium that I had, but the license key wouldn't work for it. I called Asus support but they didn't give me any useful info.

Laptop Does Not Power Off After Installing SSD?

Jan 22, 2012

My laptop was working fine until recently when I installed a new SSD (I used an optical bay caddy). The SSD works fine, and actually everything is fine except for the fact that after I shut down the computer it does not power off automatically (I have to hold down the power button for a few seconds). However, when I start it again,Windows does not complain about not being shut down properly, so I guess that it manages to do so, it's just that the power is not cut off. I should also say that neither restart, hibernate or sleep work. The result is the same, with the mention that for hibernate and sleep Windows does complain when rebooted (which is natural for sleep but I don't understand why it happens for hibernate).

The problem starts during the Windows installation, when it gets stuck on reboot. However, I can power it off manually and start it again and it all goeswell. should also say that:- I use Windows 7 64bit with SP1- the laptop is an ASUS K53SC- the SSD is a Corsair Force 3 60GBThe things I have tried so far are- I tried a different version of Windows 7 (on 32-bit)- I tried updating the BIOS (turns out I had the latest version)- I tried disabling the SSD or uninstalling its driver from device manager- I tried disabling all devices that could be disabled from device manager- I tried closing all services before shut down (from task manager)- I tried selective boot (from msconfig) with all services disabled

BSoD After Installing ATI Driver On Laptop?

Mar 28, 2012

The laptop is: Acer ASPIRE 5740G. The specs are: Intel Core i3 330M (2.13 GHz, 1066 Mhz FSB) ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 4 GB RAM (no other info here, sorry) 320 GB HDD (no more info here either) OEM Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium (I have never reinstalled it) The system is about 3 years old So yesterday, I was watching a video on youtbe when the whole laptop stoped responding, couldn't access task manager or anything, then I held the power button untill the laptop shut down. When I tried to boot again, windows started ok until after the welcome screen, it was stuck on a blcak screen. I tried a few times and the problem persist.including disabling all startup programs, using system restore to go 1 week ago (when it worked just fine), with no luck, until someone told me to uninstall my graphics driver. I did that in safe mode, and then rebooted. The windows loaded normally and logged in and everything, windows identefied my graphics card and installed the driver again and asked for a reboot, after that the whole thing happened again.I uninstalled the driver again in safe mode, and tried installing the latest driver from theATI website, after I did that it asked to reboot, that's when the BSoD started to appear.I can't get the performance monitor report to work, it gives me this message:"Error:An error occurred while attempting to generate the report. The system cannot find the path specified."
