Digital Media Pro Keyboard Media Buttons Not Working With ITunes
It seems to work for WMP, but for iTunes the play/pause, stop, fwd, back buttons seem to not work when the iTunes window is minimized. They work when the iTunes window is up, which I manually bring up with the mouse. They do not work when it is minimized. This obviously undermines the purpose of buttons on the keyboard. I'm hoping for a new version of the driver that will deal with this. I got the new driver from the website when I put my driver cd in and it prompted me to search for new. The new one is running in XP SP3 compatibility mode. Any idea? I am running W7 x64bit

DVD Dolby Digital Surround Sound In Media Player
I mirrored my working config from my Vista 32 bit install into my Windows 7 64 bit install and a Windows 7 32 bit install, but can't get the Dolby Digital SPDIF coax output to work (just get static) in my Windows 7 install when playing a DVD. Notes: - Both Vista and Windows 7 are on the same PC, but on different partitions of the same hard drive. - standard stereo output works fine in Windows 7 - Dolby Digital and DTS do work in Windows 7, but only in the Sound config window, not in any program. I have the latest Creative Audigy 2 ZS Soundblaster Windows 7 drivers installed (Creative Sound Blaster Audigy series driver 2.18.0011). Anyone have any suggestions on how to get the Dolby Digital / DTS output to work Windows 7 when playing a DVD? Media Center - Playready Error When Trying To Discover Digital Signals (qam)
My tuner is a Hauppage WinTV PVR 1800 (fairly recent release), which is recognized, and works with both analog and digital channels in Vista, but in Win 7 I only get analog. When I try to search for digital channels (typically qam channels), I get the error: "....error installing Playready. you will not be able to watch or record premium tv Error information: 0x80240003 Microsoft update server not configured to process your request......" Any ideas out there?

Windows Media Player Cannot Play This DVD Because There Is A Problem With Digital Copy Protection
I just upgraded to Windows7/Profession (64bit), and I stick in a DVD to play it and I get the following error message: "Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD because there is a problem with digital copy protection between your DVD drive, decoder, and video card. Try installing an updated driver for your video card." So, have we finally reached the point where the Windows-7 O.S. is playing "Big Brother" with our own store-bought DVD's and enforcing copy-protection in Windows Media Player 12?

Install Error - Osetup.dll Digital Signature Does Not Validate
Windows 7 build 7100 - Attempted to install Office 2007 Enterprise and Ultimate from CDs burned on this Windows 7 machine. Have used sigverf program to verify digital signatures. Changed the region on the DVD/CD burner to region 1 Extracted the ISO files to a share on the hard drive using Daemon Tools Pro and attempted installation from it. All resulted in same error listed in the title. Is Office supposed to work on this pre release version?

How I Made A Bootable Win7 Install DVD From The Digital River Download ?
How to make a burnable iso is covered in another thread... it requires downloading a Microsoft tool and running it through the command prompt. I haven't tried that way yet, but I did make a bootable dvd another way that was very easy, in case someone feels like doing it another way. Step 1: download the Digital River download. Run the install program which will extract all the files to a directory called expandedSetup. Cancel the install program. Step 2: download Imgburn , which is free, and install it. Step 3: Go here and follow the instructions to create the bootable DVD.. tahdah! Just another method I discovered.. dunno if there are any particular advantages to either... maybe someone other than myself could say.

No Sound HP Pavillion DV1000
The volume icon on the taskbar reads "No Audio Output Device is Installed". No sound whatsoever not even out of the headphone jack. HP does not make a driver update. They told me my computer is too slow to run Windows 7. Funny, because I'm running 7 as I type this! Works great, other than this issue. If there isn't a driver, I can of course get a USB or Express card sound card, right?

Install Same OS (Win 7 Pro 64) To A New Partition
I have a new Dell Studio 1747 with Win 7 Pro 64. I would like to do a fresh install of the same OS (Win 7 Pro 64) to a new partition to get rid of all the 'bloat ware' that came with my system. I want to keep the factory partition and OS in the event that I have problems with the fresh install. Would I be correct in assuming that this case would be similar to installing XP to dual boot with an existing Windows 7? Do I need to worry about losing the ability to boot to Dell's diagnostics located in a separate partition on the same drive?

Install Win 7 Pro On Toshiba Laptop
I bought a new Toshiba laptop (L300-1DN) for someone this year and they have Vista SP2 on it (obviously fully included with Toshiba drivers etc. which are also on a recovery disk). There is an option to buy an upgrade version for Vista users of Win 7 HP, but I have already bought a full version of Win 7 Pro, and my preference is a clean install as I'm not too sure about the success rate of upgrades and efficiency of the new operating system afterwards... Therefore if I do a clean install of Win 7 Pro, what's the situation regarding drivers? I was told that Win 7 has many manufacturers' drivers built into it's kernel and that any manual update of drivers should be minimal?

Win 7 Pro Upgrade Install Hangs Up
Okay so I bought the W7 Pro Upgrade 64bit using the Student download via Digitalriver.. I downloaded it on Windows 7 RC2 32bit and I followed the steps that was posted in the error thread to make an ISO file and I booted the disc and installed 64bit. Everything runs fine except when I get to the final phase of installing and it restarts my computer, the computer hangs at the Windows is starting up screen.. I did a custom clean install by the way. AMD 5200+ 64 dual core 4gb ram DDR 2 ram nVidia 8800gt 512 gfx card Sound blaster audigy ls 5.1 sound card can't remember what MOBO i have exactly but I believe it's Asus. Someone said to try disablign the secondary LAN in BIOS but that was already disabled for me and it still doesn't work.

I just got Windows 7 Pro plus a new machine and I am trying to install Windows 7 but it keeps hanging at Starting Windows when I go to install. Sometimes I see artifacts when it freezes and sometimes I just freezes. Any idea what is going on?

Install Win 7 Pro 32-bit On Dell 8300
I thought it'd be a good idea to upgrade my desktop from XP to Windows 7. I installed Professional 32-bit on it since I got a free copy from MSDN because of my college. The install went smoothly and everything was fine. The only problem I had was that it had no sound and the sound drivers wouldn't install because they were for only Windows XP. However, I was perfectly fine with that since I don't really need sound for it. I'm using it more for hosting vent/teamspeak 2 servers for friends. The problem I had this morning when I turned it back on was that it wasn't recognizing the Ethernet connection anymore. And I don't know why. Windows 7 installed Intel PRO/100 VE by default for my network adapter and it's still there but it's not recognizing any Internet connection. I read somewhere that your computer won't recognize a lot of your hardware if the chipset driver isn't installed. I didn't know what chipset I had so I tried using Intel's Chipset Identification utility thing which I transferred over from my laptop by means of an external but it said that it couldn't even recognize what chipset was on my Dell 8300. I tried installing the only chipset driver for the 8300 from dell's site but it's not supported by any OS after XP. So I'm at a loss on what to do. I've read stories from other people online about having success upgrading their old 2003/2004 Dell 8300 to Windows 7. I just want to get my desktop back on the Internet. I don't really care about the sound not working.

Cannot Install ATI Radeon X1950 Pro Graphics Drivers
One of the smaller problems ive been having is installing drivers for the ATI Radeon X1950 Pro graphics card. Ive got both the Vista 32 driver for the card AND the Windows 7 Catalyst pack ATI put out the other day, with either package i double click on either one, I immedieately get a "Vista_32 Driver" or "Win_7_32_Driver" has failed message. Ive managed to manually install the Vista 32 driver via device manager, but still cannot get Catalyst control center to work. I Am eager to get this fixed as I believe it is graphics issues which randomly causes my computer to completely freeze, meaning I have to do a manual restart to use it again. The puzzling thing about this problem is that it is seemingly random, sometimes I can run the OS for hours on end without it breaking, and other times it crashes minutes after startup. Custom Install Win7 On XP Pro/Vista XP Dual Boot
I have just discovered that I cannot do an Upgrade from Vista HP to Win 7 Pro and that I will have to do a Custom or clean install. That will be OK and doesn't cause any problems. I have XP on one HDD and Vista on another with dual boot. However I want to replace Vista HP with Win 7 Pro 32 bit, ( I intend to go 64 bit later on). What I would like to know is, will Win 7 replace Vista on the boot sequence (MBR?), so that on booting the PC I have the option of selecting either XP or Win 7, or will I be presented with a boot menu of XP, Vista and Windows 7, albeit that Vista is no longer installed? If the latter, will this cause any problems in selecting the OS that I want to launch i.e the MBR looking for a now non existing Vista and would there be a way to remove reference to Vista?

Pro (retail Dvd) - Reboot Error After Install On New Intel SSD
I have just just installed a new Intel SSD (80GB), updated the firmware and installed Windows 7 Pro 64bit. After spending the past 5hrs installing all the necessary files on my computer, a reboot was finally required. The reboot found the SSD as the primary boot drive, but gave the following error message: "Rebot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and a press a key" I changed the boot order in the bios as this was initially incorrect.

Setting Up A Home Media Network Using Media Center And Media Extenders
I am trying to setup a media network for my new home that's being built. What I want to accomplish is a network that can feed my 5 TVs live feeds or be able to record up to 4 or so TV shows at once. But I wanted it all to come from one centeralized location. I know that I can do this with Windows Home Server and Windows 7 Media Center and then I know that I need a media extender for each TV. Other than that what else do I need? Can I just have one cable box plugged into the Server and have that feed all the TVs or do I need one cable box for each TV and do I need a Tuner Card in the Server for each TV? How many TV Cards can Windows 7 support at one time? How many Media Extenders can support one TV Card? I want to store my movies and music and pictures in this same server that I'm using for the live TV and DVR so what specs on the server do you recommend?

Upgraded From XP Pro To Win 7 Pro, Lost Access To My Spanned Dynamic Drive
I just upgraded to Windows 7 Pro from Windows XP Pro. In my XP Pro setup, I had two 500GB drives set to dynamic and spanned as one drive (drive letter F). It has worked great for years. Well, I pulled the existing XP Pro harddrive (80GB), just in case I had any problems, and installed a new 320GB harddrive for my new Windows 7 Pro install. The install went great, however, I cannot see my old F drive (the two 500GB spanned dynamic drives). I did pull off my critical data before the upgrade, however, there's still a lot on those two drives I would really, really like to have. Anyway, when I realized something was wrong, I put my old 80GB harddrive (with XP Pro) back into the computer and pulled the newer 320GB harddrive with Windows 7 Pro out, but to no avail. Now my old F drive isn't available there either. There's gotta be a way to re-activate my old spanned dynamic drives on my new Windows 7 Pro setup.

Use Upgrade Media To Do A Clean Install
As you're aware, Vista had the 'capability' to do a clean install using the Upgrade DVD. You could boot from DVD, do a clean install, not validate, then when in Windows, go to the DVD drive and install again, this time doing an upgrade and then validate. This seemed to be kosher as reported on many sites. I know people who did it and all was well. Their Vista PCs run fine, and are completely up to date with regards to SPs and updates. So, for an Upgrade price, it was possible to do a fresh install...will Windows 7 have this capability do you think?

I would like to deploy over 350+ PC's by using MDT 2010 which i need to clean installation on a reference computer to capture its image. Clean Install With Upgrade Media
Last week I complained about Microsoft’s shoddy documentation of how its upgrade procedures are supposed to work. I’m delighted to report that I got a tremendous and immediate response from within Microsoft, offering assistance in my testing and also promising to clean up and expand their documentation. I spent most of the weekend working on a table that I’ll publish later this week. I’m also testing various upgrade scenarios to see which ones work and which require a workaround. Meanwhile, an argument that should have died ages ago has reared its head again. If you purchase a discounted upgrade edition of Windows 7, can you use it to perform a clean installation of the operating system on a PC that doesn’t currently have Windows installed? The answer is really simple. If you qualify for an upgrade license, then yes, you can use any number of workarounds to install the operating system legally. If you don’t qualify for an upgrade license, then those same workarounds might technically succeed, but your license is not valid. Will you get away with it? Probably. But if you’re running a business, you run the risk that an employee will turn you in to the Business Software Alliance, which could lead to an audit, civil charges, and eventually some stiff penalties. Let me see if I can help uncomplicated things. The overwhelming majority of PCs are sold with Windows preinstalled by an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM). The rules are in the license agreement that you see when you first turn on that PC. You can find any license agreement for Windows (retail or OEM) at the Microsoft Software License Terms page. If you read the retail and OEM license agreements, you will see that there is absolutely no requirement to install the software in a specific way. Here, for example, are the details from the OEM license agreement for Windows Vista Home Basic/Home Premium/Ultimate. I have used bold type to emphasize key terms. Section 2: “The software license is permanently assigned to the device with which you acquired the software. That device is the ‘licensed device.’ A hardware partition is considered to be a separate device.” [In Windows 7, the language is slightly clearer: "The software license is permanently assigned to the computer with which the software is distributed. That computer is the 'licensed computer.'"] Section 13: “To use upgrade software, you must first be licensed for the software that is eligible for the upgrade.” [This identical language appears in Section 14 of the Windows 7 license.] Section 14: “Proof of License: If you acquired the software on a device, or on a disc or other media, a genuine Microsoft Certificate of Authenticity label with a genuine copy of the software identifies licensed software. To be valid, this label must be affixed to the device or appear on the manufacturer’s or installer’s packaging. If you receive the label separately, it is invalid. You should keep label on the device or the packaging that has the label on it to prove that you are licensed to use the software. If the device comes with more than one genuine Certificate of Authenticity label, you may use each version of the software identified on those labels.” [This text appears in the Windows 7 license in Section 16, with the word "device" replaced by the word "computer."] That sticker on the PC is the proof of your original full license, the one that qualifies you for the discounted upgrade to a new version. There is NO requirement in the license agreement or elsewhere that the qualifying software be installed first for the upgrade to be valid. Finally, there’s the question of what older Windows versions qualify for an upgrade to Windows 7. The answer is on the retail upgrade box: “All editions of Windows XP and Windows Vista qualify you to upgrade. … If you are upgrading from Windows XP, you will need to back up your files and settings, perform a clean install and then re-install your existing files, settings, and programs.” Here’s a picture. Note that it specifically says “clean install,” not “custom install.” So what are the rules? Let’s break it down by some specific situations: You originally purchased a PC with a copy of Windows XP or Windows Vista. You qualify for an upgrade on that specific PC. Any version of XP or Vista qualifies for an upgrade to any version of Windows 7. So if you bought a Dell in 2007 with Windows XP Home preinstalled, you can buy a retail upgrade of Windows XP Professional and install it on that PC. This is true even if along the way you wiped the hard disk clean and installed a beta of Windows 7. The license for Windows XP was permanently assigned to that machine when you first turned it on and accepted the license agreement. The fact that the original operating system isn’t currently installed on the PC is irrelevant.

Can A Win 7 N Key Be Used To Install On Non-N Media ?
I have non-N keys and N keys. There are options to download non-N media and N media. I've already downloaded the non-N media, so can I use N keys on the non-N media or will I need to download the N media just to find out? I know the difference between the two being the non-inclusion of WMP and the whole story about the EU, etc.. Just wondering if I can use my N keys on the non-N ISO I have here.
