Install HP Printer But Keep Getting Don't Have Permission?
Nov 17, 2011
I did clean install and tried to install my HP printer but keep getting don't have permission from Administrator to install. The thing is, I'm the only user on this pc and I don't know how to get permission. I've tried to install it 3-4 times with same results but on a couple occasions it says I have wrong OS too. Do I need to start new thread on this problem or is it considered problem with Admin too
I noticed in my Event Viewer that I have literally THOUSANDS of errors with source listed as DistributedCOM and event ID 10016. It logs an error event about 4 times per minute on this.
General info tab says: "The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID {0C0A3666-30C9-11D0-8F20-00805F2CD064} and APPID {9209B1A6-964A-11D0-9372-00A0C9034910} to the user *********** SID (S-1-5-21-1873924993-3643908058-657741459-1122) from address LocalHost (Using LRPC). This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool."
After 35 years of using windows products I have come across another one that leaves me in the dark. Maybe its old age (74). Can you help a senile old man?I am using Chrome and I want to listen to AOL radio. It plays awhile then I get a message that flashplayer has crashed. Flashplayer is enabled. This is a constant problem with Chrome. Pain in the butt.So I start up IE 9 thinking I will listen to AOL Radio. IE9 cannot find AOL Radio. In fact it says I am not connected to the internet. I am connected 24 hours a day and the MSN web page comes up before the message I'm not connected. So how could I not be connected to the internet? So, I decide I will try Firefox. Have not had it for a cupola years because of previous firefox problems. I download it from File Hippo with my Internet Download Manager.I open it, it extracts, then I get a message that says I may not have permission to run the program. It asks me to check one of two boxs. One with my user name or Administrator with a password. I don't have a password, but neither boxes work, no matter what I check. I am not allowed to run Firefox. Is there something new with Firefox that you have to have permission to run it?No. I do not have any bugs. I ran Avira & SuperAntispyware.I only use IE for updates. I use Chrome as primary browser. I am the only one that uses this computer.
When I install something and it asks whether I will allow such and such a program to make changes/install, it does not pop up with the window but is running as I'll eventually notice it in the task bar. How can I make it so it actually pops up and gets my attention..?
I have administrator rights on my Windows 7 account, and I always have problems installing programs. Usually it is with a folder called config.msi. I don't have write permission for that folder and when I install anything I get multiple error messages about it.I have been unable to install the latest Itunes, and I tried to install it manually. Everything went fine, except for the usuall config.msi errors, until the final part of the install. It said it did not have permission to access the itunes folder in program files. I looked at the properties of the folder, and I did not have write permission. The Itunes installer undid the entire install and deleted the itunes folder. When I go to the program files folder, I do not have write access to it, and I cannot change it. I followed the instructions in this forum to enable the administrator account, and could not get write access to that folder from administrator either. The error messages I get look like there is another account out there that is a superuser. Is there any cure for this?
A wire came loose in my laptop charger so I asked for a replacement, but the supplier was adamant that there was something wrong with the port in my laptop, not the charger (he was wrong), so they took it away to fix. Anyway, a member of their staff took my hard drive out to copy a couple of my files to a disk for me as I needed them asap and couldn't get my laptop charging. Apparently that's all they did.Today I got my laptop back and things are not right. I am the administrator and there are no other user accounts on my computer. I am recognised as the administrator when I go on Control PanelAll Control Panel ItemsUser Accounts. But now all of a sudden I can't access Music, Pictures, Videos or Documents from the start menu. It just does nothing and says nothing when I click on them. I went on 'Computer' and tried to access them from the 'Libraries' menu at the left side. It didn't let me and didn't come up with any error message. It also didn't let me see the properties of them or do any of the other right-click options. It was saying at the bottom that they were completely empty, so I just deleted them and thought I'd make new ones with the 'Create Library' option. But when I go on this it says "Unable to create the file 'New Library.library-ms' Access is denied". I tried to restore the four Libraries from my recycle bin. It came up with a message saying "You'll need to provide administrator permission to move this folder". I clicked on continue, then a box popped up saying "Destination Folder Access Denied. You need permission to perform this action". Permission off who?! It's MY computer!
When I located my files the long way (Computer - Windows (C:) - Users ... etc.), all my documents were read-only and had a padlock on their icons, so I changed that. It won't let me view my pictures (says I don't have the correct permissions to access the file location). I can copy and paste the pictures so that it will let me view the copies, but it says things like "You'll need to provide administrator permission to copy this file" for everything I try to do. It gives me the option to continue, but it's annoying me because I have to keep giving permission for things that it should just let me do.
I have 2 programs on two seperate computers where UAC comes up and asks me if I wish to run the programs. These programs do not require administrator rights (Truecrypt and iSpy) and the check beside "Run program as administrator" is not checked in either the shortcut or the actual executable file.
i am trying to create a new site in dreamweaver. the site will have a coldfusion extension (.cfm). i am the only user on my notebook so i have complete administrator privileges. however, when i try to save the site in the c:inetpubwwwroot folder (because that's where coldfusion applications are saved) i always get an error.the error says: "you don't have permission to save to this location. contact the administrator to obtain permission" i thought i was the administrator? i am unable to change the settings in the security tab in the properties panel either. that is the extent of my troubleshooting capabilities.
I use two types of paper, one ordinary (in the ordinary paper tray), one coloured (in the rear tray), hence with XP I installed my Canon MP560 printer twice, one with properties for the ordinary tray, one with properties for the rear tray. Then I can select which paper I want by selecting which printer (and just naming them differently ie CanonMP560 ordinary and CanonMP560 colour )! I just copied the first installation, pasted it for the second installation, then changed the properties to suit. My installation is WIFI, and now that I am with Windows 7 I can find no way of having the same set up
Have a wireless Lexmark printer for three computers, (His, Hers, Laptop). All were working great. I set up (tried) Homegroup. Piece of cake for Hers and Laptop. His gets "This computer cannot connect to a Homegroup" message - another problem. Hers tried to do 2-sided printing, used to work great but could not now. I noticed that the printer on Hers was now named Laptop. We only use the Laptop for traveling. So I removed Laptop printer on Hers and tried to add the printer. Now I cannot add the printer, it tries, gets to the "installing printer popup and hangs forever with no CPU usage. I cannot cancel. The only way to go on is to restart. Have tried the following all without success. Deleted the printer and the printer drivers. Installed the drivers from DVD. Tried to add printer. Hangs as described above. Plus tried everything else I could think of, removing printer, adding printer, etc.
I removed my old HP DeskJet printer from the system because of tests.
If I look in "Devices and Printers" it doesnt show up any more as expected.( also all virtual printer programs/plugins which I had installed dont show up any more if I click e.g. Print in an editor program... )
I also successfully deleted the printer in the shared printer list I get when I run "net share" in a command line.
Trying to install an HP 2100 tn printer through a Linksys router to a Win 7 62 Pro machine. Win 7 drivers for Asus MB, Marvell Card and latest firmware for Linksys router.
Tried Win 7 printer installation routines a jillion times...and it couldn't find the printer (power cycled router and printer several times). Used HP latest network diagnostic but it can't find the printer. Used latest PCL 5, 6 and PS drivers from HP - nothing. Used netsniffer with HP diagnostic and it looks like the diagnostic sees the printer (reports the correct i.p. address) but doesn't identify it as a printer.
Went back to XP where the printer works and found it is currently working with IPX protocol.
Anyone have any ideas? I don't want to buy a new printer, or stick with XP.
Need to install Mitsubishi printer cp3020du on pc with windows 7 64 bits. I downloaded the newest driver from Mitsubishi but when I try to install system looks for a inf file n can't find in folder where I have the download.
I have installed windows7 on Dell Latitude D630 Laptop. I am not able to install Printer on it. When press Add Printer it is not showing any USB port, although i can use these ports for net and for Pen drive.
current printer: HP office jet 6500AI have had the same problem twice on 2 different windows operating systems with 2 different HP printers? Both time were for my parents. One with was with XP the other Windows7. They try to connect a HP printer with USB hoping it will get autodetected and windows will have the driver, it doesnt, they call me. I download what HP calls a driver but its a huge files (I think one was 30mb and the current one even more). I got around the first problem by installing the old printer to the XP through their router instead of USB but now they do not have a router. I think the printer is about a year old, the PC is new. So I googled the HP office jet 6500A and tried the two suggestions I found (right click, properties, run in vista mode and the other was a new usb cable....) but neither worked.
Bought a new Epson NX420 Printer a month ago and installed it and everything was working fine with Windows 7 HP Pavillion computer. Then a different user tried printing something and print job got stuck in queue and wouldn't print. So after trying many different options and nothing I tried uninstalling and re-installing printer. Now when I try to do the installation it lets me install everything till it gets to driver and I get error message saying Can't install printer access is denied. I am running it thru an administrator account so I don't know why I am getting this error.
Every time I try to install the printer on my laptop, toshiba satellite, I reach the point of, failure to install printer drivers. I have tried everything I know clearing disc space off loading old programs, but it will still not load.
I want to install my Okidata printer on my new computer running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bits. I have two cables, LPT1 and USB to connect my printer to the computer. My computer not came with LPT, so I wanted to connect it using USB cable. I chose the option to install new printer. The first thing Windows asks me is to choose the port on a list. The list shows the following ports only: LPT1 to LPT3, COM1 to COM4 and XPSPort(local). No USB on that list. Must I configure something that I missed?
I have found the HP 2000c XP print drivers included on the Win XP Pro install disc work for Vista/Win 7. The component names start with HPV and there is an NTPrint.inf which contains the HP 2000C printer description. I used these components, and installed my networked (via a HP print server) HP 2000c using the JetDirect 7.1 Network Setup Wizard. I have all functions and services working.
I have 3 laptops 1 x Win XP and 2 X Win 7. I have installed this printer on 2 of the laptops no problem, the 3rd l bought today networked fine and can print if the other printer(XP) is turned on. I wanted to install the printer on the new Win7 laptop so I can sometimes just plug the printer into it and print, to save turning other laptop on. But the printer driver will not load!! Each time the installation goes fine, but when l look in printers and faxes the yellow exclamation mark is there. If l connect the usb cable to the new laptop it says installing printer, but then says printer driver not installed.
from Epson and HP (who made the PC). I've tried the original CD and latest download for my Epson SX415 on my laptop, and also a friend's, but they have refused to load the printer driver.

have shared a printer on Windows 7 and in the security tab I gave "Everyone" access rights. I still get the error message - I keep getting the error messageWindows cannot connect to the printer. I was able to shared directories and able to access them without any problems. It's the darn printer that I can't connect. It's part of my assignment to test the printer to see if I can install the driver via point and print to a shared printer on Windows 7. Someone told me it's a Windows 7 security issue. On both another Windows XP and another Windows 7 PC able to to connect to a second Windows 7 PC and see the printer, but it won't let me connect to it. Any ideas how to resolve it. Is it because one pc is on a domain while the other is in a workgroup? If so why am I able to access shared folder, but cannot connect to a shared printer.
