Mar 16, 2011I have a brand new printer Canon IP4850. The driver installed like a dream on an old desktop win XP, on my laptop which is Win 7 32bit. Only on the Acer Desktop Win 7 home edition 64bit it refuses. Windows claim it encountered a "catastrophical error" (????) and error 0x080000FFFF. I tried the driver on the cd which came with the printer, I tried the download from the Canon site: nothing. Microsoft claims it is a Canon problem and Canon states it is a Microsoft problem. I tried to rename the softwaredistribution folder (result: 0). As to me there is something in the setup of Windows (Acer only delivers image dvd's, not original Windows dvd's) which stops drivers from installing. As this desktop is the printerserver of the house, I would like to get it to work!

Nov 8, 2009I have attempted to install my 8560 printer on my laptop I am having issues. I went to Xerox and downloaded and attempted to install the printer and received the same issue.
It wants to install as a network printer and is requesting me to connect to a network. I do not have a network. When I go to view my devices and printers I see my Xerox printer there which seems strange. I tried to print something from word and it only printed in black and with from the bypass tray. I then went to check my printer preferences and found i had only the very basics options which all seemed to be fine except for the color and tray selection.
Its weird because on my XP and Vista computers, I do note have this issue and they are also laptops. I checked my security and I have rights to everything. I simply want to install the printer and us it with a USB connection.
I am also having an issue with two other devises using the USB port connection.

Dec 7, 2012I bought a MG5450 2 days ago and began setting it up yesterday however stumbled across an issue where the printer driver would not install regardless of the compatibility setting. Being as it's a newly released printer I thought the drivers would be up to date and new, however I think there may be a issue with NT 4.0 driver policy as when I try to install the drivers through the device manager, it gives me that message that there's a policy in place stopping me.
Windows update always fails when trying to install the printer, however the scanner, and software included all work fine. I can scan images on wirelessly and have them saved on my computer without an issue, however there is no way to print. I have tried disabling the policing through the 'MSC' and adding a local group policy or something along those lines. However none of this has worked. How can I get the driver to install or disable the policy to allow the printer to be installed. Tried installation of the drivers both through wireless and wired, both come to the same outcome.

Jul 18, 2009I have a tough problem that I would really appreciate detailed instructions on how to solve. I recently purchased a Motion Computing M1300 Tablet (originally from Circa 2003). It has a 40GB HDD (internal - IDE I think) that has been wiped so it has no OS - only BIOS.
I do not have any keyboard or mouse (its a pen table) or DVD/CD Rom for this computer. It does have a USB and I follewed instructions to create a bootable USB flash drive with Windows 7 on it, but that procedure gets only a few minutes into it and then fails because computer is unable to find any drivers that it is look for.
I do have access to a second XP computer with DVD. I have a Windows 7 DVD and also an XP DVD as well that I can access on the 2nd computer. I can and have taken out the HDD from the Motion Computer computer and I have a USB Drive attachment that allows me to connect the drive from the Motion table (after taking it out) to my second laptop where I can do all kinds of things to it.
What I want to do is figure out some instructions on what to do to the HDD after removing it from my tablet (maybe starting with a low level format) so that I can put an OS on the HDD (though the USB connected to my XP laptop) and after I put the HDD back in the Motion Computing laptop, everything will start working and the Motion Laptop will be usable with the OS.
I would prefer to have Windows 7 on it, but at this point, I would even accept someway to even get XP working on the machine. Everything I have tried so far just has not worked.
Custom Install With Notebook Without Drivers
Dec 27, 2009I am trying to upgrade my Vista 32 bit to Windows 7 32 bit. Since my Vista is the home version and the win 7 I've purchased is professional, I have to do a custom install, which basically deletes all my programs and drivers. My notebook, however, didn't come with any drivers when I purchased it. All it asked me to do was make a recovery disk.
So my question is, how do I find said drivers? I've downloaded a few off HP but do those require existing drivers or can I use those after the Win 7 installation? My main concern is my ATI Mobility Radeon 3200 and CCC.
