i have two laptops, one for home use and the other one is for outside as the second one is lighter.i add new favorite quite often, so how can i make them synchronize the favorites automatically?
I have Windows 7 on my computer. Can anyone tell me the difference between Start/favorites and the Favorites toolbar which is the third toolbar on top of the screen?
I recently cleaned my computer case (took it all apart and vacuumed it out). When I plugged everything back in and tried to boot up, all of my BIOS settings had cleared and I had to re-enter/set them again. I found this odd, but maybe the CMOS battery is failing or dead. A few days later I realize my time is off by about 15 minutes (roughly, the amount of time the PC was unplugged as I was cleaning it). However, when I left click on the time in the bottom right, "Change date and time settings", select the Internet Time tab, and click on Change Settings, I get the following error:Unable to Continue You do not have permission to perform this task. Please contact your computer administrator for help.Unfortunately, I have the only account on this machine, I am the admin, and this is not a domain machine (it's a home PC). I have no clue how or why this error has come about but it's rather annoying. I went into my BIOS and manually set the time to make it accurate and hopefully fix the issue but I still get the error. To further complicate things, when I look in the list of Services, there is no Windows Time service. When I run "w32tm /config /update" from an elevated command prompt, I get the error "The specified service does not exist as an installed service."I ran an SFC /scannow check and it found/repaired a corrupt file (mfds.dll) but that doesn't sound like it's related.
Three Computers on a home network. Desktop in Office (Windows 7) . Wife's Laptop (Windows 7). My laptop ( Vista unfortunately). Norton Security Suite and all three. I have a network setup and a Homegroup established.
Everything was setup and working so that I could share files between all three. My wife was able to open a desktop file make changes and save it back to the desktop computer.
All of that changed. Now we get a message when trying to save the file. "You do not have permission to save in this location. Contact the administrator to obtain permission".
I have given the entire "MY Documents" sharing permission to everyone. I have checked everything. I have looked over all kinds of forums and nothing has worked.
I am to the point of doing a complete reinstall of Windows 7 on my Desktop.
how I can copy my Favorites from one PC to another? I've just had a new PC that's running on Windows 7 with IE9 and I'd like to get my Favorites from my old PC that runs on XP and IE8.
First I tried drag-and-drop. Then the "add to favorites bar" star with the green arrow at the left end of the favorites bar. Finally selected the favorites bar at the top of the regular "add to favorites" procedure.
My biggest (albeit minor) complaint with IE9 is that 'locking' the Favorites window to its position on the left side of the browser has become somewhat tedious. Most know, but in IE8, the 'star' was on the tool bar above the left side browser, making it easy to click the star, click the 'lock' arrow and drag links from the address bar to whatever Favorites folder was desired. Now, one must click on the right side, click the lock arrow and then move the mouse to the left side to access. Much less efficient, IMO.Is anyone aware of a shortcut that makes this process easier? I know Alt+C will make the window appear, but ideally, I'd like to move the Star icon back to the left side.
I do not want my favorites bar organized in alpha order. I want an order that is more useful to me, but everytime I drag them around, my favorites go back to alpha order when I reopen IE. I do not mean the drop down favorites list, I mean the bar across the top. IE*, Win 7.
I can't seem to delete 2 folders that I created in ie9 favorites. Everything I tried to delete them I get the message that they no longer located in c:usersvabroomfavorites. I have even tried to delete directly in c:usersvabroomfavorites and still get the same message. Any solution to this besides reinstalling win7?
i jsut moved the Desktop folder to a different drive cause i didnt want it to be on the SSD. i moved everything but from when i did this i cant add shortcuts to the explorer's left panel. ill show you a pic. http://imageshack.us/f/7/catturagy.png/ Under ''Preferiti'
how to make my "Folders" in my Favorites in alphabetical Order? Also, I have Verizon wireless. Why does my You Tube play for 15 to 20 seconds then stop for that long and then start again then stop, etc.
I just completed running a full backup of my PC onto an external drive using Windows Backup. When I went into IE (I'm running IE8 on Windows 7) all my dozens of favourites had vanished!I only have one used account on the PC as only I use it, so I an not in another account.I tried restoring favourites from the backup - the process tells me the files are already there, do I want to overwrite them - so I said yes, but they are still not visible in IE (I only get "Add to favourites", "Organise favourites" options when I click on the favourites tab).I tried doing a system restore, to a point before the backup, but that has made no difference.Obviously the favourites are there somewhere, as they are in the backup, but how on earth do I get them back into my Browser where I can use them?? (Come to that, how on earth can doing a backup have caused them to vanish??)
PS - I've just checked in Windows Explorer - in Users> Helen > Favorites they are all there, all 700 files in 64 folders - so why are they not showing in Internet Explorer where they should be?
Yesterday the favorites entry that led to the LIST of favorites and folders vanished. Also gone is the File menu. The sparse favorites bar with one pinned link is intact and useless.usersusernamefavorites is completely intact.hint(?) - On July 6 W7 booted the original configuration of IE9, with the Bing insanity. The desktop icons for text files did not get placed upon boot. Many program icons were missing. System restore had a restore point labeled Windows Crucial Update, dated July 4.
I somehow managed to rename the libraries as well as the 'Favorites' about half a year ago.I don't recall how, but remember that it took a lot of trial and error. It worked perfectly and consistently in the start menu and the window manager. Now, with the latest update (13 important) it all got changed back, and keeps so despite my effort to regain my version. How can I rename those again, or what was the update that reset MS defaults and how to kill it?
I added more favorites into IE and I'd like to transfer the new ones into Firefox. Firefox imported some when I first opened it but how can I add more without manually adding each one?
When I installed Firefox, some of my favorites from IE were copied over from IE, but NOT all of them. I have done a search for Favorites in Firefox like the ones I can see in IE (in the user files) but the search finds nothing. Is there anyway I can copy the favorites I want from IE into Firefox.
The last week or so the IE 8 favorites keep resorting, before this it would happen every few months but now it is several times a day. I've never clicked on "Sort by Name". I've seen a thread where IE 9 has the same problem, so I don't want to upgrade to 9 if I don't have to.
I have 2 seperate computers both running Windows 7 and ie9 I would like to merge the 2 Favourites folders in ie9, so that they are both the same on each computer.I have tried backing up one and importing it into the other but it just overides the original. Can it be done in Windows 7?
I downloaded IE 9, and the yellow star with my Favorites is missing along with all my favorite links. Unless there is a way to get them back I will just go back to IE 8. I have Windows 7. Im also pretty much computer "challenged"
