Favorites MENU Disappeared?
Jul 9, 2012
Yesterday the favorites entry that led to the LIST of favorites and folders vanished. Also gone is the File menu. The sparse favorites bar with one pinned link is intact and useless.usersusernamefavorites is completely intact.hint(?) - On July 6 W7 booted the original configuration of IE9, with the Bing insanity. The desktop icons for text files did not get placed upon boot. Many program icons were missing. System restore had a restore point labeled Windows Crucial Update, dated July 4.

The link to the Download folder was there - the actual folder is still under users.

I have a new HP laptop with Windows 7. I copied all my favorites onto a CD that I've loaded into a folder on my desktop. Is there a way to get all those favorites to display in the favorites drop down menu in IE?

I'm talking about the favorites meny that you see on the left side when you open windows explorer. The favorites bar had my favorite folder and most recent places, that used to quickly open folders. Now when I click on the arrow to see the drop down, nothing happens, the arrows goes away...the favorites is just there.

A few minutes ago I highlighted a URL, right clicked in order to copy and the right click context menu did not open.
Unfortunately one cannot use Edit/Copy in the command bar for a URL.
I then attempted to copy random text from a web page and again no right click context menu. I was able to copy the text using Edit/Copy. I can also use Edit/Copy in notepad.
I also discovered that I have no right click context menu at all. I tried right clicking on the taskbar, the desktop, desktop icons, and in an empty space in my top command bars. Next I tried to copy the URL using SeaMonkey. Didn't work.
It worked earlier today. I have made no changes to anything that would cause this to happen. I really need the context menu. How do I get it back?
edit to add: I uninstalled the software for my mouse, reinstalled, didn't cure the problem. I did a google search and found an article by Microsoft which I followed but did not resolve the issue.

I am running Windows 7 Professional 32-Bit Edition with SP1. Somehow I have lost the "Pin to Start Menu" and "Pin to Task Bar" options when I right click on a program's icon whether it is running or not. Another strange thing is that when I right click on My Computer and select "Manage Computer", I get an error message that there is no program associated with that command. I ran "sfc /scannow" and it returned "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations." So I am at a loss. I do recall seeing an option to remove those privileges somewhere, but I cannot for the life of me remember which program I saw it in.

I have a Realtek built-in sound card. I've got a GA-990FXA-UD3 GIGABYTE mobo, and that's all I'd think matters. It was working a little while ago (Yesterday) with no problems. When I got home, the little speaker thingy on the bottom right had an error thing next to it.So, I looked in the volume settings to check stuff out, and but when I click "OK," it goes back to the lonely, empty, no speaker'd room.

I'm running Windows7 with IE9. If I go to "Start - Favorites" and select any of my favorites (including my homepage), IE opens the browser as a "small" window (not fit to screen). If I navigate to my "User - Favorites" folder and click from there, it's the same thing. However, if I click on my IE icon in my taskbar, my homepage opens "full" every time. I would like my favorites to also open to fit the screen.
I have tried, (the obvious) maximizing it then closing it normally, dragging the edges of the small window to fit the screen and then closing with "x" and also with "ctrl-file-exit" and "shift-file-exit" - the only suggestions I've been able to find so far, but nothing is working. In my start menu - programs, I have right clicked on both the 32 and 64 bit IE Explorer icons and selected for them to open maximized, but it hasn't helped.
I recently had a run in with the "SmartHDD" virus, but this problem existed long before that issue. I have done a reset on the browser, after the smarthdd issue, I reinstalled the browser, but I'd assume there may be something other than the browser causing this problem(?)Scans with AVG, Spybot, Malwarebytes, Superantispyware are not showing any problems with the pc.

First I tried drag-and-drop. Then the "add to favorites bar" star with the green arrow at the left end of the favorites bar. Finally selected the favorites bar at the top of the regular "add to favorites" procedure.

My biggest (albeit minor) complaint with IE9 is that 'locking' the Favorites window to its position on the left side of the browser has become somewhat tedious. Most know, but in IE8, the 'star' was on the tool bar above the left side browser, making it easy to click the star, click the 'lock' arrow and drag links from the address bar to whatever Favorites folder was desired. Now, one must click on the right side, click the lock arrow and then move the mouse to the left side to access. Much less efficient, IMO.Is anyone aware of a shortcut that makes this process easier? I know Alt+C will make the window appear, but ideally, I'd like to move the Star icon back to the left side.

I do not want my favorites bar organized in alpha order. I want an order that is more useful to me, but everytime I drag them around, my favorites go back to alpha order when I reopen IE. I do not mean the drop down favorites list, I mean the bar across the top. IE*, Win 7.

I can't seem to delete 2 folders that I created in ie9 favorites. Everything I tried to delete them I get the message that they no longer located in c:usersvabroomfavorites. I have even tried to delete directly in c:usersvabroomfavorites and still get the same message. Any solution to this besides reinstalling win7?
