Will replace Network Meter if something that does much the same can be found. Network Monitor II gadget is a little too big.

Dec 31, 2012I just recently re-installed Windows 7 Ultimate, and I'm having that damn security issue "Destination Folder Access Denied" "You'll need to provide administrator permission to copy to this folder" and unable to save text files. I've been going at this for hours and hours, I can't find a fix I've tried editing Properties > Security > Advanced Permissions and Ownerships, don't work. I've tried the "Take Ownership" command. Still doesn't work. I've been through a few re-installs because I've just been hammering out as much as I can do.

Nov 7, 2012I bought a new Laptop (ASUS X53SV) and as soon as I got it I made a recovery disc (turned out several discs not one). Now I was wondering what happens if I had to replace my Hard Drive? It has a recovery partition to reset it to the default factory settings if the system becomes corrupt etc, which I hope I will never use. However, if the drive needs to be replaced (all drives go one day!!) then the recovery partition is no good any more.Pre-installed on the Laptop was the usual software bundles with trialware but more importantly the OS, in my case Windows 7.Would these recovery discs make the(eventual)new Hard Drive a REAL copy of the current one as it was when I first got it AND usable with all the software? My concern is for the copy of Windows 7.What else should I do? How could I save the Windows 7 OS? The manufacture doesn't give real discs any more!! Apart from back up discs, should I make another Recovery one again? If so, how often should I do these?

Jul 1, 2012I just run a virus scan and it found 4 files called NotAVirus.adware although I did notice it ended .win32 (this could be to deter people from removing it?). I decided to just run the recommended setting of deleting them and then automatically run a clean up afterwards. I attempted to access my internet using Netgear wireless smart wizard and it said it was unable to run the task, I attempted to connect through my network and sharing center and it said the page file was missing then windows posted a bad image message. Oct 13, 2011I recently went into my computer to install a Corsair H80 Water pump for the GPU. Anyhow, after i connected all the cables and turned on the computer again i did not have any sound. Even though im not an expert with computers, i'm pretty sure all the cables are connected right (but there is always a possibility i screwed up there).I do have sound devices, that is not the issue. After the first pc boot i had the Realtek digital output (realtek high definition audio) as the sound device. I went into the control panel and pressed sound. The previous audio device (that i had and was working) was there, but stated as "Not plugged in".So, my computer does not detect or react as i connect any headsets nor speakers. I also checked the audio in the mixer to see that it "plays sound" which i can confirm.I have searched the web for people with the same issues and tried a few "solutions" but none of them worked for me.They were:
1. Uninstall and reinstalling the drivers
2. Making sure i got the latest versions of the drivers
3. Turning on the front jack panel in the Realtek HD Audio Manager, which resulted with the speakers apparing to be connected and works according to the computer but still no sound.
4. Tried different speakers and headphones.
After trying several things im starting to believe it might be me who failed at connecting the computer. But if so i have no idea how to fix it, as it does not matter if i connect the audio cable instead of the HD audio cable or if i leave them unconnected.My os is Windows 7 Ultimate.I got an Intel motherbord DX58SO and my sound device/card is Realtek high definition audio?

Prior to Windows7 we only had a problem that required replacing the jvm.dll file within the Jinitiator installation folder. With Windows7 64bit and/or 32bit, we're seeing where some clients can open IE9 and get the popup logon screen as expected but nothing you type will show in the logon area until you click outside of the window and then come back to it. We've noticed that unless the cursor is blinking in the logon window it will not display anything that is typed (unless you click outside the window and come back to it). However, some users can use the 32bit IE and never have a problem. Sometimes you'll get a message that Windows is changing the basic theme.

Nov 17, 2011Yesterday my computer crashed, but I got it working quite quickly again. But when I was to write to my friends in a chat (I am swedish) I realized i could not write any swedish letters. And all the 1-9 shift functions were moved or gone too. It has taken me a while to figure out where the functions are now (like ? ! @ etc). So anyway I thought that the input language must be acting wierd. and when I were to look what language i had on, there were none. No input languages. None. I cant add, because there are no languages to add. They all are gone.

Jul 15, 2011Im having a tricky question I thought I had answered. I have a 32-bit Win7 machine that I just unpackaged and setup for a user. I was having problems with windows not responding to mouse or keyboard commands after what I thought was a sleep issue. I disabled hibernation, sleep, hybrid sleep, HDD power downs. Now the computer just turns off the monitor, User always turns off his PC and actively uses it all day. I thought this had fixed the problem, I just left it running in my office and would just make sure it responded. I just installed the new machine last night thinking I had fixed the problem. As the user was typing an email he "Claims" that the screen just went dark and he couldn't get it to come back on. The light on the monitor showed activity (Wasn't the orange sleep light) but wu9ld not return from this state. I have to manually power down when it does this.

Apr 4, 2012i have a windows 7 computer that i got second hand from a computer repair place. it's a new install, but not genuine apparently. all this computer is used for is surfing the net on a large monitor/watching netflix/hulu/Internet.so, had a few bsod problems with netflix and similar, but nothing big, until monday. on monday, it suddenly wouldn't take any input from the mouse after the first few clicks. sunday night it worked fine, the most recent change was an installation of dvd decrypter on friday. however, monday it will load up, allow me to click past the "not genuine" screen, and maybe click one or two more things, then any time i click above the taskbar, there is no response. the weirdness is that i can do anything from the taskbar. open/close new programs, access the windows menu, etc. but if i click an open window, it deselects it, like i had clicked an empty portion of desktop. this also occurs if i click an icon on the desktop. the keyboard works fine, and it's part of a wireless set.
i tried cold-booting it, and a new mouse, neither worked.finally, i did a system restore to about 3 days ago. this seemed to restore complete functionality. however, i just found out from my wife that its' exhibiting similar symptoms-- she will go to netflix and everything will work fine, until she got to the page where something was playing, at which point it wouldn't accept commands again.
No Keyboard Input At Startup?
Jul 30, 2011I'm getting a strange problem when starting up my computer. On initial boot, one of the messages on screen is "press del to enter setup". At this point, the keyboard works fine-I can go in and change BIOS settings without any problem. However, if I let it contimue booting up, another message appears-"Press any key to boot from CD". This is the one I want, but at this point the keyboard has no effect. Even pressing F8 does nothing.
