Freezes After Viewing A Page For About 20 Seconds?
Jun 18, 2010have Windows 7 64-bit working properly, and make me feel a bit better about buying it? At the moment it looks like I'm stuck with a bunk OS and am out $200. I'm not happy at all...Here's a summary of the main problems I'm having:System restore doesn't work - I make a save point, but it doesn't see it when I try to restore. I had XP Pro before 7, and the restore function didn't work on that OS eitherIE 8 32-bit doesn't work, it freezes after viewing a page for about 20 seconds. The 64-bit works fine, but I want to use the 32 bit if I can, mainly because I use roboform and that doesn't work on the 64 bit browser.My surround sound only works if set up as a 2 speaker system.No video files will play at allRegardless of the type of video, they give the same error "server execution failed"I use Impulse, from Stardock, which is basically a service like Steam.Impulse runs, but only minimized, it won't come up to the desktop. I had the 32-bit version of 7 installed, and it worked fine there.
There's more, but this is all I can think of atm.I've been working on this sh*t since last Saturday, and am starting to burn out. I need to make a list of the problems so I don't forget what they all are. So far I've installed Windows 4 times; apparently there's a lot of software it just doesn't like (like office 2000 & the zonealarm I have), where loading just frags the whole
Page Going Inactive After 5-10 Seconds Of Idle
Mar 11, 2012I've recently upgraded to Windows 7 ult(clean install with mech upgrade as well). Everything seems to work fine but I noticed that whenever I open my web browser or work on document, the page I'm browsing or working on goes inactive. For example, just now as I type this post, the page goes inactive and the cursor disappears so I have to click back on the page.
I've updated the driver for the mouse and alse used my old mouse. The problem remains.
Internet Explorer Crashes Within 5 - 10 Seconds Of Loading A Page
Feb 27, 2012I recently re-installed Windows 7 from some rescue disks, and everything, with the exception of Internet Explorer is now running fine! Basically whenever I load a web page in IE it crashes after a short time (5 - 10 seconds), and I then have to exit with CTRL + SHIFT + ESC (Task Manager)! Inside task manager I actually have to terminate the IE processes, as IE won't exit if I attempt to shut down through the Applications tab.
Initially IE8 was installed from the rescue disks, and I have since upgraded to IE9, but both versions are behaving just as badly as each other.
I have even tried to start IE in "No-Add Ons" mode from the "Accessories" menu - however after a short time it still crashes. Now I have no add ons enabled, I have deleted everything (in IE history), scanned for viruses (there are none), and I am wondering if there is some way of repairing IE?
P.S.: I have installed other browsers, but I actually need IE for running some Microsoft Online Services, all other browsers are only supported in "lite" mode!!!
Fingerprint Scanner Works Within 2 Seconds Of Login Page Appearing?
Apr 15, 2012I have a problem with the login process for Windows. A while ago (nearly a year now) I installed a USB fingerprint reader and this worked fine for a while when all of a sudden it appeared to stop working on the login page. It turns out that if I scan my fingerprint within the first 2 seconds of the login page appearing then Windows recognizes the device and allows me to log in using biometrics, if I try after the 2 seconds then it doesn't work and I have to use a password. I really don't understand, the device is recognized, working properly and even if it doesn't work for logging in then I can still access biometric settings and everything as if it was completely fine. I'm presuming that this is a driver conflict somewhere that during the loading process something happens after 2 seconds that prevents the fingerprint reader from operating correctly but how do I find out what?

Dec 12, 2011In the last few days my Toshiba Satellite L745-S43210 hasn't been working right. Recently it won't boot up properly. It started to boot up and then it would freeze up seconds after showing my desktop. I managed to go into safe mode and use msconfig to change start up programs and turn it to only the essential items. After that it worked and I tried turning everything back on and it worked fine last night. I assumed it was just overheating from being used so much in the last few days. Now today when I tried starting it up I was able to enter my password but the screen went black with my mouse pointer working. I turned it off and tried again a few times before going into safe mode.
I went back into msconfig again and turned it back to only essential programs and I performed a virus scan with Super Anti-Spyware and Malware Bytes and the only thing that they found were cookies. I cleared them out and booted up windows again and it worked fine. Now I am trying to select only certain programs and choose only the Microsoft, Intel and Toshiba programs/services and now when I boot it up I don't even get the the text box to enter my password, it just shows the blue windows start up screen. Right now I am using Safe Mode With Networking to type this and try messing with start up programs again.

Mar 4, 2011I currently run everything in admin mode. most of my games force me to. When my pc just turns on it is quick instant response time, but after running for half a day it becomes slowed.. When i click on a program to start you know how it goes to a lightey darkend screen and the yellow dialog box asking to run the program? Well this is how it works. i get a full black screen for about 15 seconds. then the yellow dialog box then the black screen again for 15 seconds. this is on any of my programs. then back to desktop then the program starts. and not even then does the program really start takes about 15 more seconds then black screen then the program starts running. BUT it still isnt.. the screen goes black, then goes to a lighter shade of black, then dark black, then lighter shade of black then the program starts time elaspes 45 seconds or so.. this is for any program.. and when this occurs the black screens i get this EEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRR sound from my speakers and if something else is running say teamspeak they all disappear for that time till the program starts.
Also another way to see this issue is when i alt tab out. Takes 2 seconds when the pc is just start or before hand. now it coudl take 45 seconds to get to desktop and 45 to get back in. while this could also cause programs to stop responding and screws with the icon placement on my desktop. Another way of it showing is when i press on the start button and it takes up to 15 seconds to appear. or when i try to pull back up a web browser same amount of timeThis all start occuring after i placed in a second graphics card. although i cant understand why that woudl be causing the issue.restarting the machine is the ONLY way to get this to stop happening and it is truely fustrating i run a very high end computer.
All Maximized Windows Show Upper Portion Of Desktop Above Menu Bar?
Jan 11, 2012Seen several different posts about this issue but really no definitive answer as to why is occurring. Never happened with XP or Vista only Windows 7. Seems most users with this issue report having a Dell computer but mine is a Toshiba Satellite L505. I just find it very annoying to have approximately half inch of desktop space visible on top of any type maximized window, browser window, explorer window, whatever.

When I turned my computer on and off manually, I get a black screen that asks me if I want to go into safe mode. Nov 2, 2012windows 7 x64 on my laptop (intel core i5 @ 2.50ghz, 4 gb ram) has recently started freezing for a few seconds every few seconds, when i'm doing just about anything: browsing the web, copying files, using text redactor, etc. only the mouse cursor responds, control is back after a couple of seconds.
* the behaviour remains the same when booting in the safe mode
* there are no cpu or memory usage peaks in process explorer
* there are no hardware conflicts in device manager
* there are no critical errors in system log
* there is no antivirus active
* hardware tests (memory, etc.) do not report any errors
i suspect this has started after i've updated all the drivers from manufacturer's site, but i am not 100% sure. anyway, i do not know which driver has caused this and i cannot easily restore to the previous state.

Whenever I click it, the Dock disappears because the OS considers it like every other program and minimizes it since its blocking the desktop. Is there any way to get it so that clicking "Show the Desktop" won't minimize RocketDock, much in the same way that sidebar is still kept on the screen? Currently, the only way I can use the dock is by minimizing any windows blocking it so that I don't need to click "Show the Desktop" which makes it disppear.

When I save this as show.scf it is react just like Win+D hotkey. But I want to create win+M hotkey's shortcut. If it possible to make this shortcut, when you click on it it must Minimize all windows by effect. And I want to sort folders by myself, for example: I have folder A, B, C, D and I want to sort them not by alphabet or by size.. I should able to put folder D after A, I cant drag them.
