View 1 RepliesIn the last few days my Toshiba Satellite L745-S43210 hasn't been working right. Recently it won't boot up properly. It started to boot up and then it would freeze up seconds after showing my desktop. I managed to go into safe mode and use msconfig to change start up programs and turn it to only the essential items. After that it worked and I tried turning everything back on and it worked fine last night. I assumed it was just overheating from being used so much in the last few days. Now today when I tried starting it up I was able to enter my password but the screen went black with my mouse pointer working. I turned it off and tried again a few times before going into safe mode.
I went back into msconfig again and turned it back to only essential programs and I performed a virus scan with Super Anti-Spyware and Malware Bytes and the only thing that they found were cookies. I cleared them out and booted up windows again and it worked fine. Now I am trying to select only certain programs and choose only the Microsoft, Intel and Toshiba programs/services and now when I boot it up I don't even get the the text box to enter my password, it just shows the blue windows start up screen. Right now I am using Safe Mode With Networking to type this and try messing with start up programs again.
Windows 7 64 bit. Installed win 7 professional fall 2010. Service pack 1. Intel (R) Core (TM) 2 Quad CPU Q965 @3.00 GHZ
Had trouble with computer in March 2011 and eventually had to ship to HP with extended warranty (which ran out march 2012). They installed new motherboard and RAM. We upgraded fan (there are 2) and took RAM from 2GB to 8GM in May 2011. Has been running great, no problems til this weekend. It will shut off like being unplugged. I can't get it to stay on very long before it does it again. I am getting the sign on screen and the desktop shows up. I can do about 1 minute of operations before it goes out.
Opened up the tower and the fans are running, nothing feels hot.
I believe it has to do with hardware, I am going to try replacing the RAM. Then checking the fans.
I currently run everything in admin mode. most of my games force me to. When my pc just turns on it is quick instant response time, but after running for half a day it becomes slowed.. When i click on a program to start you know how it goes to a lightey darkend screen and the yellow dialog box asking to run the program? Well this is how it works. i get a full black screen for about 15 seconds. then the yellow dialog box then the black screen again for 15 seconds. this is on any of my programs. then back to desktop then the program starts. and not even then does the program really start takes about 15 more seconds then black screen then the program starts running. BUT it still isnt.. the screen goes black, then goes to a lighter shade of black, then dark black, then lighter shade of black then the program starts time elaspes 45 seconds or so.. this is for any program.. and when this occurs the black screens i get this EEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRR sound from my speakers and if something else is running say teamspeak they all disappear for that time till the program starts.
Also another way to see this issue is when i alt tab out. Takes 2 seconds when the pc is just start or before hand. now it coudl take 45 seconds to get to desktop and 45 to get back in. while this could also cause programs to stop responding and screws with the icon placement on my desktop. Another way of it showing is when i press on the start button and it takes up to 15 seconds to appear. or when i try to pull back up a web browser same amount of timeThis all start occuring after i placed in a second graphics card. although i cant understand why that woudl be causing the issue.restarting the machine is the ONLY way to get this to stop happening and it is truely fustrating i run a very high end computer.
On startup, the Windows desktop shows up, but after a few seconds the screen went blue, with no text of any kind. When I turned my computer on and off manually, I get a black screen that asks me if I want to go into safe mode. It says to use the arrows keys and press enter to choose which mode to go into, but the keyboard is unresponsive at this screen.
What do I do? How do I get into safe mode? Do I need to bring my computer in to the computer repair shop?

View 4 Replies View Relatedwhen my computer goes to sleep after it's on for a while when I move the mouse to get the screen back up it shows the backround no icons or anything to click. Same if I turn it off and turn it back on. I have to turn it off and on many times then go to safe mode and shut down then turn it on again for it to work. Just now I had to turn it on/off 4 times for it to show the icons and task bar. Usually it is left blank with nothing to click having no choice but to turn it off. Norton says no viruses. My computer is HP with windows 7. I bought it in 2011.
View 1 Replies View Relatedwindows 7 x64 on my laptop (intel core i5 @ 2.50ghz, 4 gb ram) has recently started freezing for a few seconds every few seconds, when i'm doing just about anything: browsing the web, copying files, using text redactor, etc. only the mouse cursor responds, control is back after a couple of seconds.
* the behaviour remains the same when booting in the safe mode
* there are no cpu or memory usage peaks in process explorer
* there are no hardware conflicts in device manager
* there are no critical errors in system log
* there is no antivirus active
* hardware tests (memory, etc.) do not report any errors
i suspect this has started after i've updated all the drivers from manufacturer's site, but i am not 100% sure. anyway, i do not know which driver has caused this and i cannot easily restore to the previous state.
i recently got a new dual-monitor desktop built by a friend and it worked fine for the first week or so. a few days ago it started getting hectic whenever i tried to turn it on, in that it would frequently do one of two things:
1) the screens would both go black and post "no signal"
2) both screens would freeze in place and it would recognize no actions aside from turning the desktop off the "no signal" issue only appears when attempting to log in or right after turning the computer on, whereas the screen-freezing would happen at any given time, whether it be logging onto the computer, checking facebook, or playing diablo iii. it currently takes me 3-4 attempts to get it running properly each day. everything in the computer is new, so it shouldn't be a problem with bad cables connecting the monitors to the tower or the ports that the cables are connected to. i've tried moving the cables to different ports on the tower, and it doesn't really seem to be affecting the problem. nothing is out of place or unscrewed inside the tower, so it's probably a software issue. the same friend that built the computer suggested that i get the latest nvidia drivers since the most recent ones were available on the 14th, whereas my current nvidia drivers are slightly older. i tried downloading the most recent one, but then i received the screen-freezing problem. whenever i attempt to download anything video-related online, the comp simply freezes up again. i can play Internet videos and diablo iii fine, just not download anything significant off the internet. my friend tried working with the comp as well, but he's at his wit's end and suggests that we get outside help in diagnosing the problem, so he recommended this site.
computer specs are as follows:
windows 7 ultimate (service pack 1)
intel core i7 cpu
64-bit os
x2 gtx460 video cards
12.0 gb of ram
I have a month-old Dell Inspiron N7010 Core i5 460M with 6 gigs of ram running on Windows 7. Until recently, it has been starting up in about 75 seconds. However, out of nowhere, it suddenly began starting up in between 2 and a half minutes to 3 minutes. I am completely baffled, and I do not know what is wrong. Could it have been something I installed, or is it something that is beyond my knowledge. The last things I downloaded before the problems started were Starcraft II, Need for Speed World, and Microsoft Security Essentials, but I doubt one of those is the source of problem.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am considering getting rid of my CME-UF5 Midi keyboard since there is no possibility of running it under Windows 7 and purchasing something new. Although I did like the quality and weight of the keys with CME vs M-Audio, I suspect M-Audio would have much better driver support and customer support for future updates, CME was certainly lacking in this department considering they didn't even provide a Vista driver for this damn thing. I browsed through forums and it seems that someone had created their own Vista driver for it by modyfing the XP one while others claimed that due to the hardware inside this keyboard, there would be no way to run it outside of an 32bit XP environment.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a clean Vista Home Premium System and am quite happy with performance (no crashes, everything runs fine). Are there any good reasons that I should upgrade to Win 7. I have a 32-bit, so going to 64 Win 7 would mean fresh install. I don't want to do that so I would just be upgrading to Win 7 32-bit.

View 3 Replies View RelatedSo basically I just installed my FX-4130 with 8GB ram, and I need to get a 64-bit OS. I read through some sites etc. and seems like you must boot your computer with an OS DVD in order to turn 32-bit into 64-bit. So my question is, can I boot up an upgrade DVD or do I need an OEM one? Also do most places that sell OS's have OEM's too? Windows 8 upgrade costs only 59€ now, normally 270€ so I'd get that if I can turn my computer into 64-bit with that.
