I have a problem with Windows 7 Ultimate x64 setup and it's quite frustrating. Before I explain what is happening let me give you my system specifications.
CPU: Intel Core i7 870 Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD4 Ram: Excelram 2x2GB Red Culvert 1600 mhz Disk: Seagate Barracuda 320GB SATA II 3Gb/s Graphics: Sapphire Radeon HD 6870 1Gb GDDR5 DVD Drive: NEC Optiarc
Ok so I've put in the Windows 7 DVD, booted from it, deleted the partitions and created them anew and formatted the non-system one where Windows is to be installed. Windows then extracts the files normally and reboots the system. Here's where things get tricky. The system hangs after the screen "Setup is updating registry settings" and doesn't move anywhere. I even left it on during the night and it didn't budge. In some instances (I've tried installing more than 10 times) I actually get pass this screen but then get stuck at "Completing installation". And I even got pass that screen in one attempt when I ejected the CD, but when the system rebooted, it hung at "Starting Windows" screen.
Removing one stick of ram
Removing all external devices, everything not needed and setting the floppy drive to NONE in BIOS
Removing everything from USB slots and disabling them in BIOS
Entering Safemode and opening Device manager through the command prompt and disabling/uninstalling VGA drivers
I have a windows 7 ultimate setup at home allowing a VPN connections via ptppp using the incoming setup.I set up the Client which is my iPad 2 and the connection goes through fine authenticating and then connected internally within the network and externally outside the network. Everything seems work prefectly. The client(iPad 2) loses internet browsing capability if I turn On the option to send all traffic however if the send all traffic is off then everything works fine. It's only my assumption that the reason why the internet works when the send all traffic is Off via my iPad 2 to the windows 7 machine is because it created a split tunnel which allows me to use the Internet without problems. My goal is to be able to turn On Send All traffic and it works. Having all data passthrough the windows machine
I have a home premium (custom built) i didn't build, i also want to format hard drive. When i put disc in, it doesn't load the windows 7 ultimate install setup, why?
My friend has an HP Pavilion DV6 Entertainment Notebook with Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit installed. It's only about 3 months old. I rebuilt the unit with a fresh copy of Win 7 HP 64bit as I did not want all the bloat-ware that came with the machine. The issue is that the unit is unable to see the optical drive (no optical drive icon). In the device manager, there is an exclamation mark next to the optical drive. It was working originally. Windows 7 normall takes care of the drivers for this drive doesn't it? Is the optical drive faulty. I've tried un-installing and re-installing but still hasn't corrected itself.
I have a 1 TB Western Digital Caviar Black hard disk. While installing Windows 7, a screen for hard disk partition was asked. I created 4 drives: 200 GB, 200 GB, 200 GB and 400 GB. And then the windows 7 got installed. But now when I log into my PC, I can only see first 3 200 GB drives. Where did my 400 GB drive go? What mistake did I do and how can I recover it back?
i was using win7 ultimate before and last day i tried to install a new win7 and in wich step that i had to choose a drive to install i sow this message "No drives were found. I plugged in my eSATA drive while CrystalDiskInfo was running and the computer froze. There was no way to regain control of the computer so I restarted. So now this eSATA drive is not recognized by the computer. The eSATA drive works in another computer. What's really weird is that another eSATA drive I have works in the computer where the crash happened.I've tried uninstalling all drivers (both hidden and visible) in Device Manager that relate to the drive.
i have this problem whereby whenever i resume the computer from sleep, the dvd drive disappear from "my computer" and device manager. It could not be detected as well. All the hard disks were detected.
The only way was to restart the computer.
The dvd drive is connected via the IDE cable to the mobo , using the Jmicron IDE/Raid chipset.
so I got a new asus P8z68-V pro motherboard. Im re-using my current 750gb SATA drive. I plugged it into the sata port, and start the computer. When it starts it says "no hard drive is detected!" I go into the bios, and on the bottom it has a disk drive, and a SATA drive. It recognizes that the sata drive is there, but when i go to start up it says no hard drive is detected. I have tried a few different sata ports and it is the exact same thing.
I've got an issue during post installation. One of my hard drive is never given a drive letter, but it does show up as a possible install drive during setup.
I always have to go into Drive Management and assign that drive a letter (and moving my DVD drive down a letter to keep the letters in order).
Under Drive Management the drive has the Properties (System, Active, Primary Partition), so I'm wondering if that is the issue.
Is there a way to change Drive Properties (if that is the case)?
my acer computer stop-ed working while been surfing net, first frozen ,switch it off by pressing power button, then comes message :reboot and select proper boot device, i checked the bios then nor hard drive western segate 1tb neather dvd been detected. i tried to hold f10 but does not work?
having an issue with a brand new HD I bought. Right now Windows 7 will not detect the HD as a drive. It shows up in the BIOS correctly, but not in My Computer. It is in a Frankenstein setup: SATA connection into the SATA port on the MB (it is enabled and showing), with power from an external HD enclosure.I don't think that would affect it though, as it is just drawing power from a different PS.i did some digging and found it in the System Information under 'discs' instead of 'drives' like my original HD.[URL]...
my pendrive is not detected in any computer where all other pendrives are being detected and problem is my inmportrant data is in the ones which is not beng detected?
I currently have Windows 7 installed on drive C: I was doing things that I shouldn't and the OS became unusable. I want to format the drive and reinstall windows. I don't want to create a Windows.old folder, I want a clean formatted drive with a new installation of windows 7.From the install CD I click on "customize" and then when prompted where to install Windows I click on "drive options" but from there, it will not let me remove, delete, or format any of my partitions as they are all grayed out. Why won't Windows 7 install let me format the drive for a clean install? There's 4 partitions listed?
1. o data, unallocated 2. 100mb system reserved 3. 698gb primary HDD? 4. 0 data unallocated
