View 4 Replies View RelatedOkay, so a long time ago i tried to use my laptop to connect to xbox live using my wireless internet. It said in the guide that after bridging and all that, i wont be able to use the port for connecting to the internet with an ethernet cable. Well, i was stupid and decided to do it, and can't find a fix for it anywhere. The Local Area Connection is completely missing and when i connect an ethernet cable to the port, nothing happens. I wont go into details, but now i need to use an ethernet cable instead of wireless to connect to my internet, and my port doesnt work and I cant find the Local Area Connection. here's an image so I dont get spammed with people asking me to give them full system scan info.

My modem and router are fine because I have XP Pro on another drive on this computer and everything works fine there plus my XBOX 360 is hooked to the same router and when it is on it goes to XBOX Live no problem. Has anyone had this problem with the internet disconnecting in Windows 7?? Please let me know the fix if possible.

View 1 Replies View RelatedOn Friday, everything was working as normal on my computer, I was sharing, and the ps3/xbox were on the network and able to play all files. As of saturday afternoon, the networking part suddenly stopped, and I could no longer find my computer on any other device on the network, but I did still have internet capabilities. I didn't think too much into it at the time and figured it was some workgroup error. Saturday night I try to rebuild the workgroup in hopes to fix the problem and also uninstall a scanner that wasn't working. I went to the add/remove programs list, and uninstalled the HP scanner/printer software, and then BOOM, no more internet at all. The other computers and consoles all still have internet, so it has to be something on the computer.

My internet was working fine and I had left it on overnight to download some stuff. Woke up next morning, the computer was off due to the wall socket switch being put off. After putting the computer back on , the internet will not work now. It connects but I cannot browse or do anything .The local area connection just says identifying and the IPv4 connectivity says no network access.
I don't know if this is a software or hardware problem or if some settings were somehow changed . I tried updating my network adapter drivers to no effect. Then again I don't know if I updated it with the right one. I then system restored to the night when everything was working fine and still no effect . Ant ideas ? A friend said that because the computer was just switched off by the power source perhaps the network adapter blew.
So about right now I feel like throwing this rig off a bridge.
I am simply trying to find my missing icon for the local area connection that goes to my Mb Ethernet . I need to change the ip. It was around before but has gone missing.
I was trying to link up a network computer before and it all went down hill.
Stuck with my local area connection problem.I can not access my internet, under networks options there is no local area connection or any thing like that.I have also tried to format my computer to fix the error but no success.I have also tried to uninstall and then install the drivers but it was of no use but when i troubleshoot the it says the drivers are not installed properly.

View 1 Replies View Relatedone day about 2 weeks ago, my net stopped working just randomly. I get the error 'Local Area Connection doesn't have a valid IP' when i try to use the router, and some 'unidentified network' shows up, i cannot connect to it.I reset everything and unplugged everything but couldnt get it to work until i unplugged from the router and plugged my computer directly to the modem. A good fix to get the net going in a pinch but it has become a real problem with me, my husband and my kids all using one computer when we're used to having our own. You cant even imagine the drama.I've tried everything i can to fix it, usually google gets me through anything i cant fix on my own and i did come across a few other people having my problem, they all seemed to fix it by disable a bonjour process. I had the same service running but their trick to disable it didnt fix my problem, it is still exactly the same.Another suggestion was to get rid of windows 7 driver for the network card and use the vendors own driver, tried that, made no diff either. also tried rolling back to several different times but for some reason the process failed.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm running Windows 7 using a DSL line connected via ethernet. I've lost my internet connection, and Windows 7 Diagnostics reports that there might be a problem with the Local Area Connection Adapter driver. Unfortunately, it doesn't say what the problem might be or what to do about it. AT&T has verified that the problem isn't with the DSL line or the modem, and for good measure I bought a new ethernet cable. To make a long story short, I waited too long before considering a System Restore and no longer have restore points available from before this problem started, which was eight days ago. I've visited the Device Manager and the ethernet adapter is enabled and working properly.
View 2 Replies View RelatedOne of my computers is getting the "local area connection doesn't have a valid ip configuration" error from troubleshooting my network. My network is an "Unidentified Network" with NO NETWORK or INTERNET ACCESS. This happened ever since I installed a new modem. The modem is WORKING with all other computers. My NIC card for the computer that is not connecting, is also working since I tested it on another modem. I had to call the ISP to activate the new modem. I spoke with them and they said nothing is blocked on their end.So I've narrowed it down to my computer since there is no hardware issue. I connect by LAN, FYI. I've tried new cables, etc. My computer has no "BONJOUR" in it nor does it have any firewalls set up, just Windows Security Essentials.I noticed in my IPCONFIG /ALL that no IP shows up for my default gateway (should be 192.168.0.1). DHCP is enabled. I tried static IP as well to no avail.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI just moved to Peru for my study abroad. When I first connected to the wi-fi in my homestay I was successful. Suddenly, I cannot get internet access and it says it is an "unidentified network". I have tried manually inputting IP addresses, DNS, etc. I have tried forgetting the network and disabling my virus protection. I can't even get internet when I plug an ethernet cable into my computer, directly into the router. My laptop is the only thing that isn't working, other people's computers work and my iPod and smart phone work with the network. I have a Lenovo Windows 7 PC, running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.

I am getting the following error '"Local Area Connection" doesn't have a valid IP configuration'. I have tried everything I have found on internet using my laptop with no success. This is in an apartment building so no access to the router.
What I've tried:
- Laptop works when connected to the same ethernet jack
- Desktop does not work when connected to another ethernet jack
- Reset winstock and ip/tcp stack cmd "netsh winsock reset catalog" and netsh int ip reset reset.log"
- Reinstalling drivers
- Do not have bonjour dns services
- Reinstalled windows 7 not formatting
I've been at this all day its a brand new computer(that might be the problem right there but i doubt it) I tried renew and release method and have unidentified network Public network as well even though i do not have wireless on the comp. The local area connection says no network access as well. Every other computer currently works wired or wireless so i know the ethernet isn't the problem either.
