View 2 RepliesI just moved to Peru for my study abroad. When I first connected to the wi-fi in my homestay I was successful. Suddenly, I cannot get internet access and it says it is an "unidentified network". I have tried manually inputting IP addresses, DNS, etc. I have tried forgetting the network and disabling my virus protection. I can't even get internet when I plug an ethernet cable into my computer, directly into the router. My laptop is the only thing that isn't working, other people's computers work and my iPod and smart phone work with the network. I have a Lenovo Windows 7 PC, running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.

Router: ASUS RT-N56U
Switch: D Link DES 1008e
Network Adapter PC: Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller
Network Adapter Laptop: Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller
When either is plugged directly into the router, no ethernet cable is detected. If you run either the PC or laptop through the switch first, it works just fine. I have uninstalled and re-installed network drivers, I've uninstalled and deleted the adapters and software and started from scratch. I've checked all of the setting 3 times over.

Wireless works perfectly however.. before ...the other day.... it has been working solidly for almost a year Im plugged into a router which is running off my cable modem, both sitting less than a foot away from me. Also hooked up to the router is another computer, and my xbox the xbox works but the other computer cant seem to get a local connection either.
at first i assumed they were having an ip conflict of some sort, but why now after all this time?
I have tried:
- ipconfig /release - /renew
- abolishing bonjour
- taking the other pc completely off the router/network
- updating drivers.....rolling back the updates
- different cables different ports
-plugging directly into the modem
- and asking nicely
im on my laptop, Dell studio also the first time i noticed this happen was directly after having powered down the modem and router.

View 9 Replies View RelatedUnder C:Users<username>AppData, there are three folders.
Local
LocalLow
Roaming
Then under Local, there's LocalVirtualStore
What are the factors and considerations that Windows 7 uses when it determines and allocates a particular file/folder to one of the three main folders?
My rig uses a Centrino Advanced-N 6230 wireless mini half-card. It reports the correct name except within the wireless network list. Instead of 6230 it reports 6320. I searched the registry to see if I could find the error, but nothing found. It's only a nuisance, and a minor one at that.

It won't connect to different wireless networks automatically after putting the machine into standby. example, use the corporate network at the office, close the lid, bring the laptop home open the lid (resume from standby) it attempts to reconnect to the corporate wireless and never recovers. i get the same experience when going into standby at the office and returning to the office.

View 4 Replies View RelatedOkay, so a long time ago i tried to use my laptop to connect to xbox live using my wireless internet. It said in the guide that after bridging and all that, i wont be able to use the port for connecting to the internet with an ethernet cable. Well, i was stupid and decided to do it, and can't find a fix for it anywhere. The Local Area Connection is completely missing and when i connect an ethernet cable to the port, nothing happens. I wont go into details, but now i need to use an ethernet cable instead of wireless to connect to my internet, and my port doesnt work and I cant find the Local Area Connection. here's an image so I dont get spammed with people asking me to give them full system scan info.

View 1 Replies View RelatedOn Friday, everything was working as normal on my computer, I was sharing, and the ps3/xbox were on the network and able to play all files. As of saturday afternoon, the networking part suddenly stopped, and I could no longer find my computer on any other device on the network, but I did still have internet capabilities. I didn't think too much into it at the time and figured it was some workgroup error. Saturday night I try to rebuild the workgroup in hopes to fix the problem and also uninstall a scanner that wasn't working. I went to the add/remove programs list, and uninstalled the HP scanner/printer software, and then BOOM, no more internet at all. The other computers and consoles all still have internet, so it has to be something on the computer.

View 9 Replies View RelatedMy internet was working fine and I had left it on overnight to download some stuff. Woke up next morning, the computer was off due to the wall socket switch being put off. After putting the computer back on , the internet will not work now. It connects but I cannot browse or do anything .The local area connection just says identifying and the IPv4 connectivity says no network access.
I don't know if this is a software or hardware problem or if some settings were somehow changed . I tried updating my network adapter drivers to no effect. Then again I don't know if I updated it with the right one. I then system restored to the night when everything was working fine and still no effect . Ant ideas ? A friend said that because the computer was just switched off by the power source perhaps the network adapter blew.
