I tried to restore my computer with the Sony restore disk. It would load then go to the blue screen and the mouse is present but it doesn't do anything from there! Sometimes it would bring up the command prompt and the I cursor blinks and nothing happens Then I tried to attemped and restore with Windows 7 disk and samething happens it loads and instead of a blue screen it is black with a mouse and doesn't do anything I tried pressing F12 and it says Check cable connection pme-mof: exiting intel pxe rom.
When I don't put a disk in it goes to a black screen that says If windows files have been damaged or configured incorrectly, start up repair can help diagnose it!

When I use the term "recovery disk", I do not mean "repair disk". I already created a repair disk. But my understanding is that the repair disk can not be used to reinstall Windows 7.

When I restarted the Samsung Laptop local drive C: did not appear in Explorer. Only drive D: and my DVD drive E: appeared (C an D are partitions on the same hard disk). The recovery software was on a hidden partition but when trying to use the Samsung Recovery facility it say Drive C: not found. After trying out suggestions found on the internet I only managed to screw everything up resulting in also loosing the D: drive containing my Acronis backup. The laptop did not start at all. I at last managed to get it going after installing Windows 7 again and I then sit with only C System Disk, D System reserved and E: DVD drive at that point.Foolishly I shrinked the system disk C and created a data disk. That disk is now Data Disk F. and not D as original. The Acronis backup containing all my files and data was on the original Data Disk D:I have used various free software to try and find that specific file. But they all search by drive and the missing file must be somewhere on the disk either as lost or wrong drive letter or something.
View 4 Replies View RelatedHow can I recover the Windows 7 key if the hard disk has broken (I have changed it) AND I cannot see the Windows key label on the back of the laptop because it isn't there (there's a linux label instead)?, of course my doubt is whether Windows or Linux was the original OS. If Windows 7 was the original OS and is thus an OEM version, can I contact Microsoft and ask them and give them the serial number or product number of the netbook?

I partitioned it in half and it worked fine until recently it started intermittently getting BootMgr missing errors on startup. After trying and failing to fix the problem directly , I decided to install a different boot drive to fix the problem. The problem now is I cant get the VelociRapter to mount, Drive Mngr wants to initialize it, the handful of data recovery progs that i have run show no files to recover and the size to be 0.5 kb.

Then I created my System Repair disk (single disk). Does this disk include all software and windows updates that were on my computer at the time I created the disk? I have read that System Repair disks will only have the factory settings of Windows 7, but I don't know if this is the case for all System Repair disks or only those that came with the computer and were made before the computer was purchased?I've also read that a System Repair disk could include a system image. Is this true and done by default when the System Repair disk is created?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been having this error even after reformatting and reinstalling Windows 7 on my desktop. I've done reformatting / reinstalling Windows 7 several times, yet the problem still occurs. I'm thinking of my HDD as being corrupted or messed up. The problem occurred after I accidentally hit the CPU when I was stretching my foot. The screen froze after that. Upon rebooting it, 'Disk boot failure, Insert system disk and press enter' occurs. After I entered the DVD installer of Windows 7, the screen just hangs.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have been having a bit of trouble with windows 7 lately, namely that it won't start up right. When I boot from the drive normally, it gives me the classic "BOOT DISK ERROR: INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER" message.
However, I soon discovered that if I boot from the Windows 7 cd and do not boot from it (By ignoring the "Press a key to boot from CD or DVD..." Windows 7 boots up fine.
I've tweaked my BIOS over and over, but the same problem persists. The drive is brand new and fine. What can I do?

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I first started using Windows 7 I had a windows XP partition along with a windows vista. I had all 3 OS's running smoothly and of course fell in love with 7. After getting my hand on a copy of 7 Ultimate I decided to buh bye Vista and Hello 7 as a whole OS, mind you I kept the XP installation running as well. After thinking about it for a while I decided to get rid of XP for good and just go with 7 to rule my PC, and somehow in the process I have the partition that used to be XP unoccupied but yet cannot use it.
It says it is a Health (system, Active Primary partition) this is a 150GB partition which completes the other half to where my windows 7 is. I want to recover that space so I can have one full 300GB. How can I do that, and any ideas how I messed that up? My system is working fine as it is, and I can really live with it, but mind you that's 150GB of space that's just not being used.
I was thinking partition Magic could help me on this one.
Any helps on how I can get that back?
My PC came with a Recovery Program, but I also made DVDs. I did a clean install of Windows 7 but it became too much hassle reinstalling my Drivers and whatnot, so I'm just going back to how it came with all the bloatware, which I will remove manually.
Is it better/safer to use the Program or DVDs.
a family member has recently asked for my help in finding some photos they have lost. Basically, what happened was; they attatched their mobile Phone via USB, then opened up the photos from the phones storage in windows explorer, then cut them, and got sidetracked into some other work, and whilst in a rush they shut down the laptop without pasting the photos anywhere, they cannot find the photos on the laptop or the phone's Internal storage, I will pay a visit soon as the pictures are important as they are of their 11 week old daughter, I will have a deeper search, but does anyone have any suggestions for me to try?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just used O&O's Disk Recovery 6, trying to reover from files from a drive that I had repartitioned. It works modestly well, as far as actually recovering the files, once you sort through all of the possible files that it finds, but like in the case at hand, there are over 300,000 files, and the version that I use only lets me recover 1000 at a time. I know that they have a newer version without this limit, but even so it would still require endless rummaging to find exactly what you want, because it scans the entire drive, without letting one set a search zone, and it labels all of the files with it own numbering system, rather than the files original identity.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI had about 15 files recovered/saved by an abnormal shutdown. These were named File0000. chk to File0014. chk.First I tried renaming them with the likely extensions I use most often, such as .xlsx and .docx for Excel and Word. This successfully recovered over 1/2 of my files. Now I have 5 files remaining, which aren't yet recoverable, even trying other extensions like .pdf, .txt, and .jpg but no luck on those.I also downloaded and ran the free UnCHK at ericphelps.com and this recovered 1 more file. url...With my 5 remaining files, I tried joining some of them, thinking that maybe that might solve something, but that hasn't worked yet.I haven't yet tried joining different combinations of 3 file fragments into 1, as the permutations of 3, 4, or 5 files would be time consuming.
Here is an example of the code to join 2 files. copy /b file0099.jpg + file0001.chk test. jpg..The above would take the partially recovered file0099.jpg file and add the contents of file0001.chk to it, storing the result in test.jpg. You'd then have to try opening the test.jpg file to see if that helped.
