View 2 Replies View Related until recently I had an XP PC with a single main OS IDE HD. To backup I performed monthly an Acronis clone to an identical 2nd IDE HD that I bought for this purpose. Easy.
Now I have a Windows 7 PC with two identical SSD's in RAID0 as main OS drive and a 2nd internal HD. I would like to perform a backup of this system so that I can later restore it to any HD configuration I choose (for example a single SSD, or a single HD, etc). Is this possible or the restore will need to be done to the same original configuration (two SSD's in RAID0+2nd int HD)? What would be the simplest software that will accomplish this?
About a month ago my hard-drive crashed which contained my windows 7 OS as well as all of my other files. The heads would no longer move so I could not read any of the data off the drive. I sent the drive in for recovery services and managed to get back all of my data except for 2 files that are not windows 7 related. They put the data on a new hard drive for me.Can I somehow recover my windows 7 OS and start booting from this new drive? I am actually not in possession of the new drive yet, I should be receiving it today.

I have tried to set the boot to an external cd/dvd but it does not recognize the cd/dvd. I only get the "no bootldr" everytime. How can I recover the C drive so I can reload my win 7. Im considering removing the HD and using it as a second drive in another computer and trying to format it. I would prefer not to open the case. is there any other solution? I havent tried to install an OS on a thumb drive and try to boot that way, will that work?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a crashed Lacie network storage device, something in it's networking board is fried. It's comprised of 2 separate HDD's, both 500gig. I was afraid they were going to be stripped but it appears they hold their own complete files. I was able to look at the files through a file recovery program on Hiren's bootdisk. Said program was unable to keep file structure however. It seems theres no way to activate it to be read as a disk in windows. Computer management reads both of the disks as having 5 small partitions and a large (476gig) partition on it. No real way to look into that partition though?A couple other programs analyzed the disk and tell me it's 'linux native'. how to pull the files as well as folder structure out of it?

View 10 Replies View RelatedI had encrypted my C drive with bitlocker. It worked fine for 5 months. After 5 months it was giving problems, so I took help from brother which suggested to reimage the machine with Windows 7.I did the same, however during installation of Win7 it showed drive C and Drive D. I deleted the Drive C and its gone, tried to refresh the windows however still was not there, so now installed Win7 on only remaining drive.I had 500 GB of hard disk divided in 2 partitions. Now I only see 224 GB in My Computer.I don't want to recover my data from encrypted drive; however I need that space of 250 GB.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a 300GB WD VelociRapter, a few years old, I bought to use as my C: drive because of the extra RPM/speed(supposedly). I partitioned it in half and it worked fine until recently it started intermittently getting BootMgr missing errors on startup. After trying and failing to fix the problem directly , I decided to install a different boot drive to fix the problem. The problem now is I cant get the VelociRapter to mount, Drive Mngr wants to initialize it, the handful of data recovery progs that i have run show no files to recover and the size to be 0.5 kb.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI was playing Dirt 2 the other day and when I pulled the the driving wheel out of the USB slot the BSOD screen showed up and the computer shut down.I tried to boot but it didn't load Widnows. The Startup Repair couldn't do anything, I don't have a mounted ISO of my sistem nor any restore points created.I can't even boot to safe mode.I checked the whole system with Kaspersky Rescue CD and it found 7 threats, including back doors, trojans and a worm. Kaspersky then deleted all the malitious files and as far as I know none of them were system critical. But windows still won't boot. What should I do?

Alas it was not and had some very important folders in it.I started to install windows and got to the drive option and formatted it and as soon as I had I realised which drive it was. I did not go any further with the installation so nothing has written over it.Can anyone advise what my options are if any to recover this drive?
