View 3 Replies View RelatedI purchased a 2TB Seagate GoFlex Desk External HDD and Windows did not auto-detect it.So I went under Device Manager and under Other Devices, the Seagate drive was listed with the yellow exclamation. It shows that the driver is not found. I had windows search online and it found nothing. The only way I know to get it back is to do a repair/restore of windows? I am afraid to do this as I have to much to risk losing. Is there any other way to obtain this driver. I plugged the device into another computer also running Windows 7 (only home not pro) and it auto-detected right away. So I know for sure the device works. My computer though is most definitely missing the driver.

It seems to have calmed down now but I am still having problems with USB devices. When I plug the external HD into the top USB ports (next to the wireless dongle for keybd/mouse), the keyboard stops working. In the system error logs I am getting this critical error: The driver DriverWUDFRd failed to load for the device RootSIDESHOW000. I am also noticing that I have an unknown device in my device manager. I am also having a message come up when I start the computer saying that Windows cannot connect to the Group Policy Controller. It says that it is timing out. [code]

After reimaging I tried to access some of the files I saved on my external hard drive, but no matter what I tried I could not get access to the files. The drive appears in device Manager and in the USB Device pages, and I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drive. But for some reason I just can't access the device.

When I try its up from What Is My IP Address - Shows Your IP Address I get the "Remote Desktop can't connect to the remote computer for one of these reasons
1) Remote Access to the computer is not enabled
2) The Remote Computer is Turned Off
3) The Remote Computer is not available on the network" I've also forwarded port 3389 on my Linkysys WRT54GSV4 router. Solved the issue. I'm just worried now because the laptop will move to a different network with my little cousins who won't know how to change the router's port settings for their router.
i recently ran into a problem with starting up my computer. I have the blue screen of death. I've tried safe mode. It won't work. I would click safe mode it would load and then go back to the blue screen. I have a lenovo laptop and I'm not trying to pay 150-200 for it!

Or If I try to use a program and point it at a another program, it also wont show up any icons. Here are 2 examples:In here I am just showing you what Google shows me (The Left), and what the actual folder looks like for me if I just browse to it (The Right). In this second one.. you can see Steam shows all Icons as broken... but if I was to go to there folders myself they would all be just fine.

I recently changed ISPs, and in the process decided to upgrade my router as I have been wanting a gigabit one.Well everything went fine, set up all my PCs as required (needed to forward a few ports for a few applications).I have two Windows 7 Ultimate x64 PCs, which I have networked together. I am able to login with a remote desktop connection just fine, I am able to access the homegroup section fine too. But the section under "Network" doesn't work. Well it works in that I can see PC1 and PC2, but if I click on the remote PC.I get the error: \PD-PC is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. The remote procedure call failed and did not execute. They are on the same router and subnet, and wired if it matters. They are actually the only two things plugged into it, all other PCs use the FiOS provided router. My router is the D-Link DGL4100.No third party firewalls, just the Windows one (and the router one). Prior to the change in routers, everything worked fine.I have searched around the internet, and almost every thread I go to seems to have a different "fix" for this, none have worked for me.

DSL, with a Linksys rounter. Theres just a red X mark on the taskbar and it won't show any open connections =/. I have several wireless devices that work even outside the range which is about maybe 5 meters away from the router. Its pretty much impossible for me to run a wired connection to my PC and need to have a wireless one since theres many tables/couches/chairs inbetween the router and my new PC.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI can see that my home network is there but windows fails to connect to it. I've been though the troubleshooter but nothing seems to work. Now the reason why I know this network works is because my mother and sisters laptop works fine on the network. Also I does sometimes work. If I'm in the same room as router is seems to work fine. But when I'm in the other end of the house it fails to connect even though windows says it has 3-4 bars of the wifi signal. Also on a less important note, when if actually connects the bars on the taskbar only shows it full wifi signal even it it only has 3 or 4.
View 9 Replies View Relatedhow network printers work in Windows? Is there only one way of setting these up, or several ways? Do I have to have a driver for the specific printer on the client? Why can't the material be sent to the server in some device independent format (Postscript??), and converted to printer commands on the server? Do I have to have a driver for the specific printer on the server? If the driver is on the client, presumably it's talking directly to the printer (using the server only as a means of communication) using the printer's own command codes, so I don't see why the server needs a driver... Under what circumstances can or can't the client download the driver from the server? What happens if the client and server are running different versions of Windows, either an older version on the client, or an older version on the server? What happens if the client is running 64-bit and the server 32-bit, or vice versa? What happens if there is no driver available for the newer version of Windows (which might be the client, or the server), because the printer is quite old?

All of the password protection is off. It's saying something I'm not understanding underneath the user name and password request boxes. It says Domain: and has my PC name on it. How can I get the access to go on their PC's?

Windows 7 detects the network printer, but for whatever reason I can't get the scanning to work over network. If anyone has some good instructions for setting this up, let me know. I've tried Canon's IJ Scan Utility, but it finds no scanners. View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I boot up my Windows 7 Professional x64 machine I get that balloon that states "Could not reconnect all network drives". How do I get rid of this? I am hard wired into the network (not wireless) and I cannot find a way around it.
All the solutions I have found state its either due to wireless network authentication occuring late in the boot process (but im hard wired) or that you need to upgrade to a Pro edition of windows (which I cam using).
It is not disasterous if I am being honest its just mildly irritating
The way i connect to my XP network is i open explorer and click on the Network folder icon. Then i wait for the green search bar to do it's thing at the top of the screen and when it detects the XP computer, it will show XP under Network and i can access it.Well it stopped. No matter how many times I clicked on Network the green search bar only searched once after a reboot and it would not find the XP drive. After searching I found that you could open the drive by typing in the start menu's search bar, \NAME. This worked fine, so I am able to access the drive but why don't it work with the Network folder in Explorer anymore? After I open the xp drive this way, it will then magically pop up under the Network folder but not before. Also is there a way to create a shortcut to this drive? I don't see that option by right clicking on it.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Windows 7 laptop connected via a WRT54G2 wireless router to an XP SP3 desktop. Both the laptop and desktop can see shared resources and both can connected to the internet.
In the Laptop's Network and Sharing Center, however, things are not correct. The Laptop has two connections to the router, lan and wireless. The lan's connection appears OK, but I cannot generate a map. I get "Windows cannot discover any computer or device." The wireless network is public.
I don't know why and I don't know how to change it. Also, when I try to create a new network connection, the laptop sees only a WRT160N router (which I don't have; perhaps I did a while ago, when the laptop ran Vista). No place to add a new one.
I have Cisco's Network Magic and it can correct see everything, including the right router.
I installed Windows 7 RC 64bit on my Ausus Striker II Formula Motherboard (Nforce 780sli) and everything was working sweet.
I attempted to do a System Transfer from my old Windows Vista 64bit (where you transfer your documents etc.), this appeared to go well however now my network connection will not work. DHCP or Static IP settings dont work. I am unable to change the 'unidentified' network's location from public.
Any ideas from anyone?
I am close to reinstalling.
