Firewall Turns Off After Reboot
Aug 3, 2009
I have one question regarding Windows 7 firewall. Few weeks ago I installed KIS 2009 Technical preview on my Windows 7 RC. During installation KIS disabled Windows 7 firewall. After trailing KIS for a while I decided to uninstall it. I uninstalled the program and rebooted the machine. After restart my Windows 7 firewall was turned off (KIS didn't enable it during uninstallation?).
So I manually enabled the firewall. But now after each reboot firewall is turned off and I have to manually turn it on. I even tried to reinstall KIS and uninstall it again but it made no difference. Did KIS screw something with Windows 7 firewall or is this just Windows firewall problem?

I am using kaspersky internet suite and disabled windows firewall. The problem is that turning the windows firewall off turns the pulic/home file/printer sharing and network discovery on.Turning on or off these settings starts the firewall.Disabling the firewall service permanently allows file sharing and network discovery for both public and home network, which cannot be turned off.I tried uninstalling kasperksky but nothing has changed.

Last week I took my laptop into Best Buy for a diagnostic due to some issues. After I picked it up, I noticed that every time I restart/turn on the computer, the wireless adapter turns on for a couple of seconds then shuts back off, and I have to manually press the adapter button twice for it to turn back on. I've never had this happen before.... and I reinstalled the OS last night at the recommendation of Best Buy because of the other issues, yet this adapter thing is still happening. The wireless works perfectly fine after I turn it on, but normally my adapter turns on automatically.
Does anyone know why this might be happening and what I can do to fix it? Right now it's just more of an annoyance that I have to turn the adapter on every time, but I'm worried that means something is wrong? Like I said, this didn't start happening until a week ago.
The laptop is an HP G60, running windows 7 home premium. The adapter is an Atheros AR5007.

My computer will randomly turn off. Only if I am using it. I can turn it on and it will sit forever, but if I use it.Shuts completely off with no warning, no error, nothing. I need to power it back on by pressing the power button. I went to CMOS and turned on restart on system failure and it does not restart. Don't think it's running hot.. at least, my gcard is only doing 48 C which is low. Idk if it's a software issue or hardware?I ran a scan of my computer using ESET NOD32 Smart Security = nothing found.

i am able to turn my computer on for a few seconds but then it automatically shuts itself off after a few seconds but the thing is after letting it sit for a couple seconds it says something about how the clocks on my processor have been overclocked too high and asks if it wants me to restore them, so i do that and then the computer works fine, but then when i turn it off and turn it back on it does the exact same thing until i get that message again.i've tried manually reducing the clocks on my cpu even though they were already at stock clocks and that didnt work
system specs:
windows 7 ultimate 64bit
intel core 2 quad q6600 @ 2.4ghz standard clocks
4gb ddr2-800 ram
ati hd 4760 1gb ddr3

Recently had a virus infection and noticed that the windows firewall service is missing. When trying to reset to recommended settings by using control panel received error code 0x80070424. Cannot access other computers or shared files/folders on home network. Saw a previous post dated 12-17 that appears to be the same problem.

My computer hard drive crashed a week ago and most of my back-ups went with the system. So, I got a new 500 GB drive and have been re-installing everything from scratch. I started with a clean install of Windows XP (service pack 2), which took forever to get all the up-dates done. Then I upgraded to Windows 7 and did the up-dates for that. I didn't make a recovery disk at this point because I wanted to get everything installed first.Unfortunately, the last time I went to reboot it failed. When I power-up the computer it stalls out on the Dell BIOS screen. I can't get into Safe Mode, Setup, or the Boot Menu because my keyboard and mouses are not working. They are both USB and none of my USB ports are working. (Also, I have not PS/2 ports on my machine.).

I am aware of the fact that my current gfx cards may be low end for DNF (Radeon 5750x2) but what is happening is that the game shuts down the monitor ingame. Like shutting down the signal (?). This occurs anytime from 5 minutes in to the game up to 30 minutes or so.
Only solution to get signal back is a hard reset.I have set up a GPU monitoring software (AMD Overdrive) to measure temps and will post logs here later, my intention with this post is to figure out any other verification measure I might take to verify that this is indeed this game overloading gfx cards?

My first guess was that since we have an electrical instability in our home, perhaps the uneven flows of power would sometimes send a false signal to the power unit of the computer and trigger a start-up (quite often the lights in our home will briefly, and sometimes violently, wave up and down, especially at night).

Recently my computer started to show signs that the power supply wasn't working properly. Every time it was unplugged and plugged back to the outlet, a light in the back will blink and make a clicking noise. Two days ago it did it again, when I unplugged it and plugged back in. I unplugged everything from the computer and try turn it on, but it didn't work. I checked all the cables inside and everything seemed to be connected properly. I unplugged the main cable from the motherboard and plugged the power supply and light at the back stopped blinking and remain lit. I decided to plug the motherboard cable. After doing that, the computer started but now it won't boot. All fans are running and there are no clicking or beeping sounds.

i am facing a unique problem. I recently installed windows 7 ultimate 64 bit on my pc. the pc runs normally for about 30 to 45 mins. but later monitor turns off with a "no signal" indication. but when i check, the processor is still running. then to get the signal back again, i must restart my system. then after boot up, i get the message saying windows was not shut down properly. i am not able to understand what is creating the problem. is the problem with hardware. or with windows 7. i never faced such kind of problem before when i was using windows xp SP3.

Motherboard: MSI Z68A-G45
Nvidia GTX 580 (Latest 285.62 Drivers)
Windows 7 64 Bit
I've had this computer about 2 months and everything was working great until today. This problem started out of nowhere. I didn't mess around with drivers etc.
Anyway, when I switch on my computer, the bios screen loads up..followed by the Windows 7 loading splash screen. Then just when the welcome screen should appear, my monitor turns to standby and says that it's not receiving an input signal.
I booted in safe mode and removed the drivers. I restarted my PC and it worked and my desktop appeared. However when i install the drivers again and restart the computer as required by the driver installation..the same problem as above reappears.
My monitor is connected via a HDMI cable to the GTX 580.
EDIT: When I go to device manager and right click the GTX 580..there is an option to roll back drivers. I clicked this and it now shows as a VGA Adapter. I restarted and my computer booted up...but obviously in low resolution as no previous drivers were ever installed since i bought the PC with up to date drivers.
I also just installed 290.53 BETA drivers. Restarted and my computer now just hangs at the welcome screen. I can still boot in safe mode which is how i'm managing to write this.

I have a Packard Bell Easynote TJ74, i bought it will a defect screen as i was planning to use my tv as the external monitor. For a few months it has worked perfectly. One morning i turned the laptop on and the laptop turned on with certain lights, but did not boot up and the screen which usually just has a white light did not show either, the hard drive lights did not light up but the heat sensitive buttons do work and light up but it's almost like the laptop is on but nothing is happening inside :S. I have the power supply constantly plugged in but the battery is not being used as don't want to over charge. After turning the laptop on and off multiple times it will finally start up correctly and the screen will light up just with a white screen and it will change over to the TV correctly.

I recently bought an ASUS X54HY-SX060 laptop.
I installed Windows 7 on my own and started installing drivers. At first, I downloaded and installed drivers for ASUS x54h laptop, not x54hy because it says ASUS X54H on the sticker on the laptop.
I figured it out I was installing the wrong drivers so I installed new ones. Everything was fine, until for the last few days.
I turn on the laptop and everything is fine until the desktop shows and then my screen turns off. It's completely black. I have to restart my computer (sometimes few times) in order to work. I tried reinstalling the drivers. I completely deleted them with DriverSweeper and installed them again. I tried repairing the Windows, but the problem is still here.
I'd like to solve the problem without reinstalling the Windows (but I will do that if it's necessary). I googled the problem many times without finding anything useful.

Since about 1 month my PC turns randomly off. Sometimes after 10 hours, sometimes after 2. Mostly when in Idle or when I'm watching movies on a second Monitor (TV but it also crashes if it is unplugged so thats not the reason). Sometimes when I try to boot again it wont start except if I turn off the PSU for ~15 seconds. Sometimes when I reboot there's an error message "Asus Anti Surge was triggered".
I already tried:
- Replaced my OCZ ModXstream 600w with a Corsair AX750 PSU
- Stock settings in Bios
- Asus Anti surge deactivated
- Changed the power outlet to another one
My hardware:
i5 3570k @4,3 GHZ
Asus Sabertooth Z77
GeiL Evo Corsa 16GB
Sapphire AMD 6970HD
2 Harddisks 250/500gb
1 SSD OCZ Agility 3 120gb
And like I mentioned 2 different PSU's.
OCZ ModXstream 600w
Corsair AX750

I performed a new 32-bit install of Windows 7. For some reason, the monitor shuts off when windows starts. I found that after Windows boots, if I hit the "sleep" button on my keyboard, allow the computer to sleep, then wake the computer, the monitor turns on and everything is fine. Why would they force a person to put the PC into sleep mode every time the PC is booted? I have a PC with a Gigabyte GA-MA69G-S3H motherboard (AMD 690G chipset). I'm using the integrated graphics and I removed everything from the PC except for the drives, monitor, and mouse.

I have a windows 7 os that on bootup gets to the logo then it turns the monitor off so that it says no signal. I can hear the sound of it booting up...no signal. This is a 30 day old build that has been working perfectly. I used the onboard graphics card...same results. Everything works in safe mode(where I'm typing from now)but I cannot access much. I placed this post here because I only had this problem after the latest update(even though I'm not sure they are related). I had already tried to repair/and restore...no affect.

every morning when I turn my PC on it turns itself off after about 5 seconds. Once it's off, pressing the on button does nothing. I have to flick the PSU switch at the back off and on again for the front button to turn the computer on again. It'll then turn itself off again after a few seconds and I have to repeat the process. Eventually it decides to stay on and it boots up fine.
I'm worried that one day it just won't turn on at all. One thing that might be worth mentioning is that if we've had a powercut in the house at all, even when my computer is switched off, when power resumes and I turn my computer back on, it tells me there's a CMOS checksum error and my BIOS settings are restored to default, as well as the time in Windows being set to 2003. How can this happen when my computer wasn't even on at the time of the powercut?
