I lost a few files and so i installed and tried a couple of recovery softwares. Now when i click on the Start menu, or open My computer, or even open any program, it takes a very long time to load. I uninstalled the recovery sfotwares with Your uninstalled program. But the problem still remains.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI took a client's HDD, which could not install Windows 7 due to lack of CD drive, and tried to install Win 7 using my home PC. At first, I tried to install but the installation disk said it couldn't locate the correct directory. I then unplugged my two personal harddrives whilst keeping the blank one in while the computer was still on. It wasn't until I restarted my PC that I was able to install. But at the set up your PC stage (name your PC, set password, etc) I turned the computer off, hoping to continue the process on the actual PC that I was going to keep it in so my client could customize it. After plugging my two personal HDD's back in, which were working fine just 15 minutes prior to this, I discovered that neither of them could boot. They just hung in the Windows 7 loading page. On safe mode, they would get stuck on classpnp.sys. Now, my computer just says that disk cannot be read, and that I should press CTRL+ALT+DEL to restart.

I have not installed any drivers for it until now bcz im not finding them. The windows is also flagging for driver of firmware parser driver but im not finding it anywhere on support of Vaio website. View 5 Replies View RelatedLast week I tried to install IE9 after some annoying pop-ups. The installation got interrupted somehow. I didn't care about that because I would never use that browser anyway.
Soon I realised I was not able to use Windows Live Messenger anylonger. After logging in, an error occurs: "Can't find ordinal 379 in DLL-files iertutil.dll" (translated from dutch, so it could be a little different in English). After this error, msn closes directly. I did some research and I read I could fix this problem by editing some internetoptions in the control panel. But when I click on internetoptions, nothing happens.
MSN isn't the only application giving this error. I experienced the same error in some other applications like paint.NET.
Also, I can't open VMWare anylonger. It runs in processes but on screen nothing happens. Skype closes directly after crashing, WOW won't start anylonger,... These are just some of the problems I experienced in the last 6 days.
i clean installed new WINDOWS 7 PROFESSIONAL 32bit on laptop SONY VAIO VGN-FZ11Z.Operating system is genuine but downloaded from MSDN. But it is giving me a lot of process validation errors. Genrally these errors are coming on application launch. After that mostly application aborts or restarts.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am having trouble installing Windows XP Mode on a Dell E4300 laptop with Windows 7 Pro 32-bit. For the record, I have installed XPM on multiple occasions without any issues at all, until now. Upon launching the XP Mode installer, it starts to deploy the temporary files but hangs at expanding 'sourcesxpm'. Then I get the following error: 'This installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package'.
If I try multiple times, I am sometimes able to get beyond that point where the XP Mode setup screen shows up, but then I receive an error during the installation process that says: 'Source file not found: D:xxxxxxxxxxxxxxsourcesXPM. Verify that the file exists and that you can access it'. I've checked everything I could with no avail permissions, Hardware Virtualization. I also installed it on an identical machine with the same setup. Then I got a hunch that the Windows Installer might have been corrupted. So I ran the command to un-install it (msiexec /uninstall) & got the same error message as above.
I'm getting a very strange installation issue. I was hoping someone could shed some light on my problem.
To start with, I'm using a Windows 7 v7000 installer disk. I'm confident that this installer is good, because I've already set up my gaming machine with it.
Now I want to install Windows 7 on my home theater PC. The components are as follows:
ASUS P5N-EM HDMI
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.66Ghz
Western Digital HD
2 GB of Ram
I am able to install windows Vista on this machine with out a problem.
This is what happens when I attempt to install windows 7:
Everything appears to load off of the DVD drive. I go through "Copying Files," "Expanding Files," "Installing Features," and "installing Updates." Then the machine reboots.
The installer continues to behave as expected, with "setup is updating registry settings." Then it reboots again. This is where the Sh*t hits the fan...
After the reboot, it takes me into a black screen "Windows Error Recovery." If I ask the machine to start up normal, it immediately reboots again, returning to another "Windows Error Recovery" screen. It will repeat this cycle forever.
If I ask it to start in Safe Mode, then I get the following error message: "Windows cannon complete installation in safe mode. To continue installing windows restart the computer."
I'm at a loss. I even downloaded build 7022, and the problem still persists.
I have a toshiba satellite L740 laptop. I have created the recovery disks from recovery media creator. I am trying to reinstall windows 7 using these disks but i'm not knowing how to do that. I am not able to enter the bios settings on start up. Should i have the original windows 7 installation cd to reinstall windows or can i use the recovery disks? I was not given any windows installation cd when i bought this laptop.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy boot menu originally consists of Vista (C:) and recovery partition (D:). To install Windows 7, I shrank C and made a separate partition (W:)
Now I have 3 partitions: Vista (C:), New Simple Volume (W:), Recovery (D:).
I installed Windows 7 to the (W:), and it reboots a few times during installation. My situation goes as follows:
Initial installation---Reboot (1 of 3)---bypasses the boot menu and continues installation---Reboot (2 of 3)---boot menu shows up and I can choose to continue the installation of Windows 7, or go to Vista. When I choose Windows 7, it finishes installation---Reboot (3 of 3)---No boot menu is shown. Computer boots into recovery partition.
Why is this happening? Repairing Windows 7 or Vista using recovery partition doesn't help either. It basically just forms a loop by booting to the recovery every time.
Interestingly, the only way I can start Vista again is by reinstalling Windows 7 and wait until the boot menu screen show up after the reboot (2 of 3).
My WIn 7 as failed and I had to re install it, I thought that I was safe with my server backup, but some file where note saved.I did try with some software like Recuva, R_Studio, Mareew Company but nothing came out

View 3 Replies View RelatedAfter purchasing my new Student Version of Windows 7 Professional I was keen to do a full system format, and start fresh. I no longer had a need for the Dell Recovery Partition which contained Vista (and a decent amount of bloatware), so I removed all partitions from my disk to start with a blank 180GB HDD.
I thought to myself, if I am going to start fresh I might as well do things right and mimic Dell’s setup with a recovery partition of my own. Now to be fair, this isn’t an extremely wild idea as there are plenty of manufacturers and software companies who provide such solutions very simple and easy. Everyone knows that Norton Ghost is fantastic, and Acronis TrueImage is right there with them. Of course you can simply run-up Imagex along with WinPE and sysprep a WIM to re-image your HDD at anytime for a free solution.
However, all these solutions require that you have some sort of recovery media for boot time operation, and the Imagex solution isn’t for the faint of heart. Now I do a lot of travel, and I wanted a solution that didn’t require me to look after a bootable DVD or USB stick, and because I am working with a laptop I didn’t have second disk which I could boot from via BIOS settings. My recovery solution had to be a Primary Partition on my only HDD with boot time options (in case my system is completely rooted.)
This turned out to be quite the challenge, as Windows 7 / Vista no longer support the simple easy boot.ini file that allows you to manually adjust boot time parameters. Instead Windows 7 / Vista have moved onto some fancy form of bootsect / BCD (Boot Configuration Data) which is very difficult to edit manually. Thankfully all of my hard work paid off and I now have a self sufficient system with all the diagnostics and re-imaging tools I could ever need. And thanks to Windows 7’s new Backup and Restore options, I was also able to include a system image which contained all of my settings and applications so that I don’t have to sit through 10 hours of Windows Update again.
What I ended up with is a Primary partition on my HDD that is a full and complete bootable version of the Windows 7 installation media. When I choose this partition at boot time it is exactly as if I have inserted the Windows 7 Install DVD into my disk drive! I can utilise all of the tools in the Windows Recovery Console (which includes the option to restore from a previously created system image), or I can simply re-install Windows 7 from scratch - without affecting my restore partition or boot menu variables!
Did a fix there recently on a HP pavilion. it suffered a hard drive failure and there was no recovery discs in situ. I purchased a replacement hd and purchased recovery discs from hp. So the build went fine and everything installed ok. Then it asked me for the product key. Now I have several Windows 7 discs but the only reason I had purchased the recovery discs is because the key sticker had faded and was illegible. So after spending 38 bucks on these discs I cant get past the activation issue. I was able to read an xp key before in the OS but when i googled this procedure for Windows 7 I ran into all kinds of key finding tools etc. I tried 4 but none of them worked, they gave me keys but activation rejected them as default keys.

Checked disk management it shows all 4 primary partitions used: 200mb (boot), 169gb (C drive), 281gb (D drive), 16.5gb Recovery partition. I tried F9 when booting (nothing) just boots into OS. This setup is completely useless to me. Called Asus ($50.) for install disk they said call Microsoft, call Microsoft ($99. new disk) they said call Asus, I've already paid for Win 7 once and i'll be damned if I pay for it again. Typical corporation bullshit.What I want to do is install Win 7 on 1st part, 2nd (shared NTFS part), Ubuntu on logical partitions.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have Unallocated space at the very end of my hard drive, even after the 25gb Recovery Partition, this is due to copying my old hard drive onto this new one via Clonezilla, and it automatically keeping the unallocated space at the end. Can I either move the unallocated space around the Recovery Partition, or delete the Recovery Partition altogether? Sorry if I am being a little unclear.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've gotten to the point where I need to just reinstall windows completely on my Asus G74SX (too many problems, I want to start fresh.). I encounter an error 1029 with Asus's recovery disks that I made when I had windows working: it says it is recovering all the way to 100% then doesnt work. I am in the process of trying it again so I'll see if it actually managed to wipe my hard drive like it said it was doing, and maybe if it did actually work and reinstall windows.However, I'd like to be able to get into the recovery partition because I would prefer restoring it with Asus as they recommend me to. However, when I hit F9, their target to get there, it doesn't do anything and just reloads the boot screen, with the Asus logo on it. I don't have an actual Wndows recovery CD so that's not an option, and at this point since my hard drive has likely been wiped by these recovery DVDs, I don't think going into Ubuntu and fixing the MBR will do me much good anymore.It may be worth noting that before I last restarted, I marked the Windows partition as active because of a tutorial here, making it so that recovery partition isn't active anymore.

"Setup cannot continue due to a corrupted installation file. Contact the vendor of your Windows installation disc or your system administrator for assistance."
Do you have any idea what the problem may be with the installation? Is there a way to see what file that may be corrupted?
I have tried to burn the DVD in low speed, but the error appears anyway. I have a MSI K8T Neo2-Fir mainboard and the Windows 7 upgrade advisor application says that my hardware is okay for upgrading.
I have just got Windows 7 Ultimate.I accept the Licence Agreement, set my partitions as i want them but when it gets to the expanding files part it will hang at 0%. This happens on both the 32 & 64 bit disc.This is a brand new purchase which I opened it about an hour ago.The laptop has a 400GB HD and 2GB of ram. It came with Home Prem x64 pre-installed, So the hardware meets the requirements.What seems to be the problem?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI just bought a new hard drive and a brand new Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit disc and I am doing a clean install on the new hard drive. it seems that everything is going normal, but at a random time during the installation, the computer just shuts off.sometimes it doesn't even get to the installation when it shuts off. sometimes it shuts off in the middle of the "windows is loading files..." black screen. there are no beeps when it shuts off or when I turn it back on. there are also no error codes.whenever i turn it back on it simply acts as if it never tried to install windows and starts the boot all over from the disc
View 9 Replies View RelatedSo i have a new SSD Corsair Force 3 240 gig and all I want to do is install Windows 7 Pro on it. This board does not support parted magic (cannot wake from sleep and there are no onboard video to wake up to) so ive resorted to clean all.I have not been able to successfully boot the OS on the SSD. I never intended on setting up raid but apparently all the literature i see is on raid. I created a USB install disk as reccomended onto a 8gig ntfs primary active did the bootsect /nt60 X: and it successfully worked copied the cd over to the flash drive and copied the rste drivers in a folder called drivers My SSD is installed on port 1 6gig sata intel (as this board doesnt have marvel apparrently) My DVD is installed on 3gig Sata port 6 I set up Raid in the bios as reccomended by others (as this is the only way to install ssd?).
Nothing UEFI is enabled There are no other drives hooked up to the computer. Just SSD, USB cordless mouse, keyboard and no network cord or WIFI i started with a clean ssd as reccomended my bios recognized the ssd on post i booted into the win 7 install (MBR not uefi) i loaded the 64 bit rste drivers from asus as reccomended by others i left the machine to install the usb then booted into windows install (for whatever reason) i pushed f8 to boot my corsair windows brings up an error on a black screen File: windows/system32/drivers/adpahci.sys driver did not load Status: oxc0000221 Info: Windows Failed to load because of a critical system driver is missing or corrupt
It seems to me that XP's recovery console is somewhat better than the one that comes with Vista or 7, unless someone can point me in the right direction for finding further documentation on this topic.
The main difference is the lack of ability to tinker with services (LISTSVC / ENABLE / DISABLE commands). A missed opportunity is the lack of registry tweaking, considering that REGEDIT can be run, but I think it only allows you to look at the registry for the recovery console rather than the main Windows installation, which doesn't help much (though I haven't tried to import/mount the registry file from the main Windows installation).
I am trying to delete the recovery drive and use all the c and recovery drive with windows 7. I do however want the Toshiba extras that come with it, well some of them. I also would like to use the windows experiance ratings.

Just did a fresh build and installed WIN7 64 bit three days ago. Got around to getting other software installed as time allowed at night. The problem I'm experiencing is that during online game sessions, I would experience sudden disconnects. Thing is when I only use my browser everything seems fine. The internet connection to my house is pretty stable, nobody else is experiencing the same issues as me when it comes connectivity. I've made sure to run virus checks to see if it was a nasty virus, nothing has been found. Drivers are all up to date as well. So I checked my Event Logs and found this: TCP/IP has chosen to restrict the scale factor due to a network condition. This could be related to a problem in a network device and will cause degraded throughput.

I think I have it settled, but still can not have anyone webex in. Norton did not think this was the virus and suggest I search the OS or whatnot. View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm running Windows 7 64bit. I regularly access a work website that has a self-signed certificate. I got tired of the warning message that always pops up regarding the untrusted certificate, so I installed the certificate. When I used to run XP, that solved the issue. However, for Windows 7 64-bit, that did not fix the problem.
I've also tried installing the certificate into the "Trusted Root Certificate Authorities" store for both my user account and for the computer. That didn't fix it either. Finally, I tried changing the security zone for the site to be in the Trusted Sites list. That also didn't fix the problem.
I find it very irritating that a website that has a "trusted" certificate is giving me a warning message about an untrusted certificate. I wonder if this is related to the Windows 7 64bit driver signing nazi-ism (i.e., you can't load device drivers signed with non-Microsoft certificates, even if you install the certificate). Just for grins, I tried disabling driver signing enforcement, but that didn't change anything either.
Does anyone have any ideas?

I haven't downloaded any toolbars, and although this is my wife's computer and she has gotten a couple viruses from visiting hacked blog sites recently ZA Pro caught those immediately so I don't think it's related to this.
