I'm in the midst of finals week and keep getting dxgkrnal.sys, dxgmms1.sys, and nvlddmkm.sys errors. This is causing my screen to periodically go black and system to freeze. Occasionally I'll get a blue screen.EVGA suggests that it's caused by a conflict between the video card on board HD audio drivers and the systems audio drivers. I tried following their troubleshooting steps (EVGA FAp Center) but it didn't do a thing.[CODE]
was using my computer for a while and decided to update my NVIDIA driver. However after I update my driver, i keep getting BSOD whenever i tried to start a game. i attached my dumpfile. it says error: nvlddmkm.sys
I have an issue with my EVGA GTX 280 SC, regardless of the driver installed I get a BSOD with nvlddmkm.sys error and a memory dump. It works just fine with the 6600GT I used as an alternative. I just wanted to know if anyone else is getting this error.
a friend asked me to check his pc because he is having crash issues after a video card upgrade. well, the new video card is zotac geforce gt 520.pc just crashes when he is watching Internet, play games, etc...i have been able to recreate the crashat the program startup, all the components are being checked and when it comes to video card it hangs a little and than crashes.pc wizard can load normally in win 7 safe mode so no crash or bsod.[code]
If I use any newer driver other than 260.99, my pc will randomly give blue screens. Either when my computer just booted up, or after a few hours.I have a GTS 250.Just some things I've tried so far:
TdrDelay tweak in registry.
Complete reinstall of Windows 7 with newest graphics drivers.
RAM checks
Using a two year old driver is not the end of the world, but it would be nice keeping my computer up to date.
recently i've been getting the same error over a period of anywhere between 10 minutes to an hour and it says display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered. it usually happens when watching Internet videos or any videos in general. i also see it sometimes happen on lower end games, but higher end games run fine without it crashing. i recently got a new gfx card that fixed previous crashes as well as the nvlddmkm bsod. the only problem is i've reinstalled the driver many times, tried various ways to reinstall using driver sweeper etc. as well as updated everything from my drivers, chipsets, directx, flash, changing to windows classic, and reinstalling the realtek sound driver
I have two computers (mine and my wife's) which are, for the most part identical.. bought the parts all at the same time, just ordered them x2. The only thing I have changed since building them is my PSU.
From within Vista I popped the disk in and began the install process. It appeared to download some updates prior to installing. It restarted and did its thing.
It "seemed" to install fine.. I got to the desktop and started copying various drivers and programs to the desktop to install. As it was doing that, my wife jumped on and changed the wallpaper.. (I watched and that's all she did) I asked her to double click on the newest video card drivers to install them. They appeared to install fine.
A few seconds later the screen began to flicker on and off. Then it locked up and have the BSOD with the nvlddmkm.sys.
It would then restart and before actually loading windows, it would BSOD again with the same file name. Now it's in a loop.
I've tried reinstalling about 3 times. All three times I've booted from the DVD, repartitioned and formatted.
Every time, it will restart at the Finishing Installation step then BSOD with the same file name. I can no longer get it to boot to the desktop.
I'm using the same DVD I used on my PC. Zero scratches on the disk. I've also used an older version of Windows 7 via DVD and that version seems to have problems too. No BSOD but after installing it will restart and post a black screen with a blinking underscore indefinitely.
How is it possible that with identical systems one has problems and one doesn't? Any thoughts on how to correct this?
This annoying vista bug persist on my copy of Windows 7 Beta. The screen freezes, goes black, restores - starts showing choppy graphics and frequently gives me a BSOD.
My setup : AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000 Gigabyte GA-M750SLI-DS4 4 Gig RAM Gigabyte GeForce 8600 GT 512Mb w SilentPipe.450W PSU, but I can replace it with a 1kW PSU at any time if needed. This error has been giving me a VERY hard time on vista, SP1 nor any patches nor file swapping didn't help - it is why I've switched to Windows7 - I couldn't get rid of it no matter what - and now it's back, are there any workarounds to this?
I've had multiple BSOD issues over the period of last few months, usually it was nvlddmkm.sys which I thought I solved with reinstalling nVidia drivers -> disabling some nVidia services routine. After that the errors came back, though much less frequent. I've ran into another bunch of BSOD's recently though, when I started playing star wars the old republic mmo. (dxgmms1.sys, sys32k.sys)
My Windows 7 is:
- x86 - I've had WinXP SP3 x86 before, but I've performed a complete system wipe before installing Windows 7 - It's a full retail version - Hardware age is about 3.5 years - Windows 7 was installed in March 2011
today I was playing minecraft, and the screen just froze, I tried alt+tab, ctrl+alt+del, esc, and all the other keys everyone presses when in panic. But then I realized that nothing would happen and I shut the pc down (I unpluged the energy source).I turned on the pc again, and entered the game again, but the screen blacked out, and I shut it down again. Thinking it had something to do with some bug in my minecraft world, I deleted it and started another one, but again the screen froze and I was forced to shut it down again. At first I thought it was overheat, so I just waited some minutes before turning it on again. When I turned it on, I opened the internet browser (google chrome) and started searching for video cards (at that time I thought that was the problem) but the screen went black again, and this time the computer didn't turn on. On startup, normally the colors are white on black, but it was showing some magenta spots. and after a Blue Screen the pc rebooted and started everything again, asking if I wanted to start windows normally (like it does when you unplug the power source --'), showing BSOD and rebooting. the blue screen showed this:
"a problem has been detected ... windows was shut down... if this is te first time... if problems continue, blah, blah, blah,

For the last half year, I've become very desperate. My computer was working jst fine and then it started giving black screens after the startup. That moment just before you see your (custom) background. I've checked my registryfiles. I've fixed some errors but I couldn't find anything about this error[CODE]
As of late I've been thinking about upgrading to windows 7, simply because I've encountered the dreaded "nvlddmkm driver has stopped responding" message, which leads to a lot of crashes and a lot of f'ing and blinding!!! Correct me if I'm wrong, but what I've read about it is, it's a vista only related issue.
My question is, has anyone else experienced this error? And if so would I be right in thinking that installing windows 7 would eliminate this problem? And also have a less glitchy experience with windows?
I've tried so many fixes without luck, I even read that running 1 x DIMM would solve it, which it didn't..
My recently purchased Laptop, a Lenovo IdeaPad v570 (1066CLU), has been having problems with the display driver. After a minute or so of gameplay using the NVIDIA driver, my audio starts to stutter for a few seconds, and finally, it blue screens with "Attempt to reset the display driver and recover from timeout failed", and something about nvlddmkm.sys. Sometimes the BSoD doesn't even show up. I tried downgrading to the Lenovo recommended driver from the latest build, but I'm still having the same issue. On some occasions, it doesn't BSoD, so I can alt-tab and see the message:"Display Driver stopped responding and has recovered".Even if games are running smoothly, they still have issues. One example is Team Fortress 2, but If I disable the NVIDIA driver in Device Manager, the Intel one works fine, with a worse framerate. Pretty weird. I have both the Intel HD Graphics 3000 and GeForce 525M driver versions supplied by the manufacturer (Lenovo).
During the first 4 days of my new Windows 7 install I was getting constant "Display Driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has recovered" events (Event ID 4101 - Level 3 - Task 0 - 0x8000000000000). The best I can recall these events occurred when changing display settings. These events are occuring much less often now. The only instance in the past day or 2 was trying to start Autocad Lt 2010 (separate, bigger issue).
When I installed Windows 7 it loaded the 186.18 driver. That driver folder still exits in C:NVIDIADisplay Driver. I installed the latest nVidia driver - 195.62 - right after the motherboard drivers (second thing). The driver version in device manager is 8.17.11.9562. The option to roll back the driver is grayed out. There are no hardware conflicts.
Memtest and Prime95 tests are clean. I have 6GB of 1333 memory "overclocked" to 1333 in bios. This is because the i7-920 is a "fixed" processor and only defaults to 1066 memory.
Originally (day 1-2) the event occured when trying to switch to an aero theme. Today (day 5) I am using a modified aero theme and have no problems. Is it possible that Windows 7 applied a bug fix transparently?
I have researched and there are many possible solutions offered. The most common is to to re-expand the nvlddmkm.sys file in System32. What do you folks here think/suggest I do?
I only get this bsod when I try to run a game that uses the unreal engine. I have done clean install of all video drivers using driver sweeper and the latest drivers from nvidia.com. Ignore audio drivers, i am using second pre xp sound card for studio purposes.

For people having the "Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has recovered" problem and the following Kernal-Power BSOD, try using a VGA cable to connect your monitor to the graphics card instead of a DVI cable. This worked for me for some reason, and I had no problems for over a week.
DVI is better than VGA ("DVI eliminates the analog conversion process and
improves the connection between source and display"), but I dont see any difference tbh. It doesn't slow down anything (for me). Don't know if this fixes the problem for all people. Let me know please
Workaround for nVidia display driver issue Motherboard: ASUS M2NPV-VM BIOS Version: 0504 GPU: nVidia GeForce 6150 in Windows 7 RC Symptoms: Stop Error 0x0000001E caused by nvlddmkm.sys during Windows 7 RC setup
Details:Perform these steps on another computer:
1) Download a current driver from nvidia.
2) Extract nvlddmkm.sy_ using WinRAR.
3) Expand nvlddmkm.sy_ from windows command prompt
cd [path_to_nvlddmkm.sy_] expand -r nvlddmkm.sy_ nvlddmkm.sys

Restart Windows 7 Setup and perform these steps:
1) During the "Expanding files" step, press Shift-F10 to open a command prompt
2) Replace the nvlddmkm.sys file located at C:WindowsSystem32DriverStoreFileRepositoryv_lh.inf_amd64_neutral_4f38d443efdd0a70 with the new one from the flash drive. Wait for setup to create the file before you replace it -- seems to occur when the progress meter reaches about 70%.
I am getting BSOD on lenovo T510 ( i7 M 620 Processor, 8 gb Ram).the mesaage says nvlddmkm.sys error on BSOD.The Laptop works fine .I am trying to enable Hyper v on the Operating system. In order to use it i have to enable virtualization and memory protection in Bios.If i enable both virtualization and memory protection i get Bsod. when i gaming suddenly my VGA have error like this "Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered." and the graphic become square square , but after i restart , my gaming and graphic back to normal, is that something wrong with my Hardware? or maybe just have a crash with the Game or application?[CODE]
I have come across the message (from a video card failure) that says "Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered." The solution is to do all of the following steps:
1. Uninstall all video drivers 2. Update your drivers to the latest version 3. Update your bios 4. Try different PCIe/PCI/AGP slots on your motherboard 5. Try different power rails coming from your power supply - make sure your power supply can support your graphics card. 6. Update your version of Direct X 7. Update your chipset drivers 8. Go to your video card settings>advanced settings> and set everything to application controlled 9. Go to your video card settings>advanced manage 3D settings> and turn off vertical sync 10. make sure your card is not overheating 11. Memory can sometimes cause video problems, run a memtest 12.Check out these posts Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding - Info about TDR and other info [URL]
Set 9 is what fixed my problem. If none of this works reinstall your OS and try all these steps again.
I have just installed win7 and I'm getting problems with it.
Whenever I play games after 2-5mins I get a black screen and a pop up saying "display driver windows kernel mode nvlddmkm version 195.62 has stopped responding and has recovered"
This is very annoying because i never had any such issue with win XP
I have the latest Nvidia drivers 195.62 but i can't fix this, i also tried to reinstall drivers in safe mode but I'm still having this issue.
I installed NHL 99 to my Windows 7 laptop (Home premium 32-bit) but all i get the screen with their copyright info and then it ends and my computer says it had stopped working...
I came home from vacation a couple days ago, powered my computer on, and it crashed after approximately 2 minutes. It now continues to crash every 60-120 seconds after a boot.I am able to run fine in safe mode, so I began a process of turning all my peripheral drivers off and enabling them one by one to see if I could isolate the problem, but have not had any luck so far.
When closing this web page, 32-bit IE8 ver 8.0.7600.16385 crashes consistently in Flash10d.ocx. Flash version: 10.0.42.34. Web page: Game of the Year Category - GameSpot's Best Games of 2009
Neither Chrome 3.0.195.38 nor FireFox 3.5.6, nor 64-bit IE8 crash. Of course 64-bit IE8 can't run 32-bit flash, but Chrome and FF do.
Solution: in IE8 Tools | Internet Options | Advanced, click Reset button labeled "Reset Internet Explorer Settings". After that IE8 doesn't crash on the above web page.
My computer is running standard Windows 7 Home Edition (64 bit) and I have been having some problems with it recently.1. Windows Explorer crashes when I try to access files from My Documents, My Music etc. This only seems to be when I access them from the start menu. If I go via My Computer > Users etc all is fine.2. After a short period of gaming, the computer freezes and starts running unbelievably slowly. It is unable to create textures on games and all I can see is characters on a blue screen. I have tried this on Fifa 11 (which now does not run at all), Deus Ex: Human Revolution, and Counterstrike: Source. It seems to be fine with browsing and low-end programs though, so I can listen to music and use the internet all fine. All of the games are legally bought etc and worked fine. I left my computer for a few months while away and nothing has changed on it apart from a few windows updates.
I just installed the Windows 7 Beta and installing all the drivers and software were a breeze. I was pretty amazed at the performance compared to Vista. My boot-times were about 20% faster than Vista and the "Aero" effect appears smoother for me. One problem i encountered was that I could not run any games including Counter-Strike:Source and Crysis without locking up. I have a pair of 8800's paired up in SLI and all the spec's are running in stock clock. Does Windows 7 not support SLI at the moment? I am running the NVIDIA 181.22 WHQl Drivers.
I've been expirementing intermittent crashes on my PC and was looking to get some ideas of what my be the underlying issue. From what is happening, my immediate thoughts are this is a hardware issue. I have re-installed windows, on top of a freshly formatted drive, and the problem persists.
Yesterday I installed some software to help me partition my HDD. After the install my pc instantly crashed via BSOD. I cant even enter safe mode without this BSOD haunting me.
Ive tried to reformat with Windows 7, but now it wont even recognize my HDD.
