Windows | Windows 7 | Hardware and Drivers How can I keep my cursor from making random movements on my computer w/o me touching it?It also move whatever webpage I'm on to the bottom of whatever page I'm on whether I want to or notI have lost letters I was typing when I clicked outside the monitor to make it stop moving. It's VERY annoying. So...I installed the Windowns 7 Home Premium update, changed mice (3 different ones now in three to four different usbs. I've run Norton, AVG, and House call and still have the problems.
I want to reinstall Windows 7 on my machine but I can't have Windows 7 messing with my MBR. If Windows 7 wipes out my MBR I'm going to be reinstalling Fedora 14 also and that is going to ruin my day.
Where do I go to please to extend the time before Windows shuts down due to me not touching the keyboard. Could you recommend some free video recorders to allow me to record, say an hour long tennis programme to watch later at the same time as watching it on the
I have an application where the subwindows are placed too high so that the title bar of the subwindow is underneath the menus of the application window.
i keep my taskbar at the bottom of the screen, using Windows 7 64b, HP fully updated. It seems like occasionally I'll click on a folder on the taskbar, maybe accidentally drag and right-click, (I can't replicate how exactly), but the whole taskbar will end up getting moved to the top of the screen. I though it's not suppose to be able to move if the taskbar is locked, does someone know if it's a bug or maybe an option I can checkbox somewhere to prevent it from moving ever in the future?
Just did a fresh install and now when I install any software my mouse will immediately jump to "next" or "install" of that software pop up. How do I disable this feature?
I have a Dell XPS laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium that is nearly 1 year old - it has not been dropped or damaged in any way with liquid/food. My mouse (normally controlled by a touch pad) continues to move on its own to the bottom right hand corner to the show desktop toggle or the time/calendar area. It does this even when I am using the mouse.
Laptop works fine, BUT when i move it ( say, to put it on a table or set it down beside me ) the built in mouse / pointer, fails to work properly. When I scroll on the pad, it barely moves and frequently will only move on one axis. The only solution I have at the moment is to physically close the laptop up, immediately reopen it and log in again and all is well until i move it again.
I've been having the problem of mouse/touch pad being able to move but somehow, i just can't click on anything with my laptop a few days ago. It just feels like everything is in the "not responding" state when using the mouse and also the touch pad but then everything seems just fine when I use my keyboard to operate them. I've tried formatting my laptop myself and also sent it to a shop to do it, but nothing has changed And also, ever since this problem occur, my laptop seems to be slowing down no matter is shutting it down or running a program.
I generally like to have a clean desktop -- so I put my desktop icons in a familiar location. The trash can always goes in the bottom right, important computer shortcuts / folders in the top right, etc.. However, (I can't say how long its been happening) I use a lot of fullscreen applications (games, mostly), most of the time launched from Steam. When these games exit, my icons are randomly placed. I've noticed that they tend to be close to the top right of the screen extending to the middle of the top. They are not all lined up, there are often spaces in between them.
I have upgraded from 32 bit Windows 7 to 64 bit Windows 7, and I've been having problems with it. After a while, a program would freeze, then everything else would freeze. I have checked for viruses, chkdsk, sfc /scannow, memtest86+, defragged updated my graphics drivers, etc, until I finally re-installed. The problem still persists, but it's not as dominant, but it is preventing me from working properly. I feel it's kinda obvious that something is activating it (but still random) but I don't know what.
Here is my System info: System Info Utility version 1.0.0.2 OS Version: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium, Service Pack 1, 64 bit Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz, Intel64 Family 6 Model 15 Stepping 11 Processor Count: 4 RAM: 4541 Mb Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti, 1024 Mb Hard Drives: C: Total - 1174695 MB, Free - 914805 MB; D: Total - 255999 MB, Free - 45742 MB; Motherboard: Dell Inc., 0TP406 Antivirus: Microsoft Security Essentials, Updated and Enabled
And I attached some log files from DxDiag and HijackThis at the bottom of this post.
I am using an HP Targus HD compliant mouse, but my touch pad (Synaptics V7.0 Touch Pad on PS2 port) is clearly the default pointer and if I try to remove it, I am left with no pointing devices at all! I have tried changing the USB connections for the mouse, but to no avail

I have a newer HP laptop that I have been playing Spider Solitaire on frequently without problems for the past six months. This week, out of the blue, any card moves are taking 7-13 seconds to complete. I then tried regular Solitaire and it is having the same problem. This obviously makes playing these games impossible. These are the fixes I have tried so far:
1. Update graphics card driver - states I am using the most current driver.
2. Ran sfc /scannow to search for corrupted files - can was OK.
3. Tried turning games features off then back on in the control panel - no help.
When I click and drag on the title-bar of a window the window border moves to the new location then when I release the mouse the window springs into the re-located border. This has only started to happen after I changed the partition size of my c: drive. Obviously, some setting has been changed and I have no idea as to how to reset it.
Windows 7 ... just installed a new Logitech K759 Solar keyboard and am using an 'old' Logitech M705 mouse via one Unified receiver (obviously both are wireless)Frequently, and unexpectedly, a full-screen window moves (and size is changed) when the mouse is left-clicked (also seems to occur when the cursor is moved with the mouse). When this happens, the window can't be closed by clicking on the 'red X' (in upper left corner) - the window will arbitrarily change back to full-screen but I cannot type or click on anything. Right clicking (on an 'empty' area) seems to 'freeze' the window in full-screen mode and I can continue typing. There isn't any other wireless transmitter (wireless phone etc) nearby (plus have never had this problem before) so interference doesn't seem to be problem.
I am having the weirdest problem with my computer. randomly my mouse will just stop opening programs/applications, i cannot click on anything in the taskbar etc. I have also tried a different mouse... & reformatted my computer back to the bare basics, reinstalled all the drivers to no avail. one minute i am playing BF3 fine or doing something else and down it goes... the only thing i can then do is reboot my system and go again.
I dont really trust what they say because when I checked the review.. its not that good.. so finally i plan to ask from this forum instead, hoping to get answers..What are the best VCD burning program you guys ever used? I want the one that can accept all types of video and convert it on its own and burn it... Easy to use is a must...I have tried the latest Nero but its not good at converting Mp4 files... because when i burned them... the video moves so fast as if they are fast forwarded but the voice lagg behind... there goes my CD wasted...And i have tried Ashampoo as well but they did not recognize mp4 files, only mpeg... i have video converter but what i want is one program to do it all.. drag the video to the program and all i have to do is wait til its done..hoping to get your replies soon.. any software will do... i prefer the simplest and easy to use.. it can be free or paid.. but if paid make sure its worth it
I changed my cursor and saved a new scheme for it, but if I shutdown my laptop and turn it back on again it goes back to the Windows cursor default scheme. How can I make the cursor scheme that I made be my using cursor scheme.
When typing my cursor jumps to a different point which if I dont catch it fast enough makes a nonsense of what I am trying to say. It doesn't matter how fast or slowly I type.
I have a latitude d830 running with windows 7 professional(SP1, 32bit). The cursor on my computer has been randomly scrolling by itself and hopping into places where i do not intend to type for a while now. I recently had windows xp removed and replaced with windows 7 because of multiple bothersome issues, but behold the cursor issue remains. My files were backed-up and reloaded to the computer and I now wonder if the "suspected" virus was transferred to my system again.
Every once in a while, when I go over a link, my cursor will become (for about a tenth of a second) a huge, kind of greenish-orange Link cursor. This has happened for a while... The earliest I can think of it happening was a few days after I installed Office 2010 Beta.
I have an issue where the spinning blue circle that (I suppose) indicates the system is thinking shows up every 10 seconds or so, no matter what I'm doing. I was advised that McAfee antivirus was a likely culprit b/c it often doesn't play well with others. I uninstalled it and went with a freeware solution instead, but the issue remains. [code] My system idle process is at 98, which I understand is a good thing. Also, I read all about SearchIndexer and changed the settings so that there's no unneccessary drag on resources. Question: Is it normal to see processes duplicated like this? My stats: Pentium Dual-Core E5500 2.8 Ghz, 6.00Gb Memory, Windows 7 Home 64-bit. I don't "do" much with the computer, the 1tb hdd is only about 10% used.
I have a problem with my mouse cursor. In some games it keeps moving down. It suddenly began doing it. It wasn't a problem when I installed windows 7. It is primarily a problem in the games that come with Windows 7, so I've been ignoring it, but I can't play Fallout New Vegas because the cursor problem occurs in that game as well. I have a Logitech MX 620 mouse. I have tried to pull out the batteries to see if that helped, but it didn't. I tried to unplug the mouse to see if that helped, but it didn't. I tried installing Setpoint, but it didn't change anything.
