View 1 RepliesI am having huge problems with my pc. I very rarely use is as my wife and kids tend to always be on it but, when I've come to try and use it, it freezes all the time for about 5 minutes, then works for a few more minutes before freezing again with the message (not responding) at the top. My wife tells me it's been like this for months and months. I've tried everything on the Norton 360 package that I have but nothing at all seems to speed it up. I've spoken to the tech guys who supply my broadband and after running several tests they insist it's not a broadband problem. I don't know what to do next to try to get rid of this problem.

When i first built it i was getting mouse lag of a split second and started getting the blue screen of death, so i then took my pc back to the shop in which i got the parts and they fixed it by replacing my ram i think. But even though they looked at it and re-installed windows im still getting mouse lag. It's not a HUGE problem when doing simple tasks like browsing the web ect.. but when im trying to play games like counter strike its just frustrating to play and trying to be accurate is a task in a half.Just to be clear, what i mean by mouse lag is a tiny delay from me moving the mouse and it displaying which is a fraction of a second but it's very noticeable.Ive tried using various mouses and tweaking the mouse settings in the controll panel and downloading the drivers that i know of but no matter what i do, there is always a slight lag of the mouse. I'm unsure if it's a hardware problem or software but i cant seem to figure it out and i want to try and find the source of the problem before resorting to going back to the shop because it will cost me to get their service and its a really long drive away.
My desktop computer fan runs incessantly. Even when it is in a cool environment, it runs almost constantly. Even when it is not supposed to be doing anything, it will be running. This drives me nuts; what can I do about it?
Also, as an aside, I have noticed that, when I access the Internet or something else on my *other* computer, a laptop, or even iPhone, on the same router network, the fan starts running on the desktop computer.
Even when I have all of the programs closed, the process "Explorer.exe" is running at 80% - 95% all of the time. This is causing serious system slowdown.

Then I upgraded the power supply to a raidmax rx730ss because the video card needed the 6 pin power supply that the old psu didn't have. After I installed the new PSU the computer would start running the post (dell logo screen) finish the load bar, go to a black screen then reboot and start running post again. the computer does this indefinitely as far as I can tell.I installed the old power supply and it did the exact same thing.

View 1 Replies View RelatedIt is running 64 bit Windows 7 Home Premium with 4 gigs of Ram.The problem they are having is that as soon as they stop working with any program, game, etc. the computer will go back to the log in menu and wait until their password has been entered. Once it does, it will go back to where it was. I was running Windows Update and it did it then. It is so weird to see it part way through an update download and have it go back to the sign in.I've tried the following:
1.I reset all setting to Never so that the computer should never go to sleep.
2.I deleted the password on the computer. Now my friend doesn't need to log in but the computer still waits for her to click on the administrative icon before it goes back to Windows.
I don't understand this problem. I've looked all over the net and even supposed to have solved the problems by several of the posts but it just doesn't work. I can't understand that if the computer is "NEVER" supposed to go to sleep why it is!
I have an E-machines EL1358-53 desktop with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit OS.
The system seems to freeze up (no blue screen, just not responding), mostly when Windows boots up, or working on files through the network. I have tried to restore to previous date, and also wiped out hard drive and re installed windows. I do not really know what to do at this point, nor do i want to spend the money out of my budget to buy a new desktop.
So I don't know what happened but while I was working a few days ago, windows just started getting really really slow. Everything started breaking, vidoe, audio. It couldn't open a single program. I could however run a virus scan (that took hours), and no relevant threat was found. So I tried running Ubuntu to get my stuff out of there as I usually do and not even that worked. It still was really slow.So I re.installed it anyways losing whatever I had there, which was not much. Anyways, now, although it's not nearly as bad, it will break often times when I run for an example, firefox and windows media player. Which is nothing demanding at all. I ran a virus scan again, and no threat is found.
View 9 Replies View RelatedMy PC's display just went off while I was surfing the net...first I thought it was the screen, so I plugged in another screen, windows booted and same happened after a few minutes after startup...screen just goes off...Now to my knowledge it can be 2 things:
1. graphics card
2. RAM. Notes: I do not get any beep errors...
I would like to know, what are the best software available for testing RAM issues? Also, I am using AMI BIOS(american megatrends v7.4, 2009), how do I do the startup memory diagnostics? I know there is a shortcut for it...
Also, I'm typing on the PC now that is giving me issues, don't know how long until display goes again...
I have a laptop w/Windows 7, we also have 2 other laptops using 7 and one using XP. We are constantly getting disconnected from our wireless internet. Sometimes it will show that it's connected but then show "no internet access". We also have a Wii, PS3, 2 iTouches and 2 iPhones. Could we be overloading our wireless router? It probably happens at least 2 times a day. We are always having to unplug router and modem and starting over. I've reset the router several times but still have same issue.

I have just updated Windows 7 64 bit Ultimate to SP1, and my HDD light is constantly flickering? There is no discernable differnce in the performance of windows and it boots and runs fine, it's just that the light is a bright neon blue colour and is very distracting! It happens from the moment my desktop appears or when being online like I am now typing this. Can ANYONE please shed some light on this matter? I am at my wits end LOL!!!A friend did tell me that turning off SUPERFETCH in the list of running services might work. I did this when I originally bought and installed 7 as I was having the same problem then, this time however, it's not had ANY difference, I still get a BRIGHT blue light constantly dancing beneath my eyes.
View 2 Replies View Relatedmy computer keeps constantly freezing. I have tried various trouble shooting tips and I am quite computer savvy myself but nothing seems to work. I bought and replaced the hard drive which actually seemed to work for awhile approximantly a week before it froze again. It isnt a software problem because I've had this computer for well over two years now and I have tried to format to fix the problem but it doesnt work. Which leads me to think it may be a hard ware problem.

It already happened one time while typing this. It will last for about ten seconds and occur anywhere from 5 seconds to 20 minutes apart.

I'm at my wits end here trying to figure out why this system is crashing.I'm using the fully updated Windows 7 Pro and the for some reason In have programs that are using 40-50% of the cpu just prior to a system crash. IDvault was the first progam to do this so I went into safe mode and removed the related Norton program. Then Google Chrome did the same thing so I removed it. Now Steam is doing the same thing. After each removal the system works fine for a short period of time. Without removal it simply crashed without any error message. After the last crash the sytem diagnostic in safe mode found that 'superfetch' was not running. After a reboot to regular windows the system worked again.I have not been able to reload Norton the program will download but not run.I have run Windows Defender and Microsoft Safety Scanner but they have not located any virus and the system just crashed again but this time without any associated high cpu usage.
View 2 Replies View Relatedi found my computer is freezing all the time. I have had no problems with this up to now, but it's so bad, it's impossible to do anything. After i log in, the computer will freeze after a minute or two. Doesn't matter what i'm doing. I had a problem with freezing a year ago when i used an old Saitek joystick. I deleted the drivers and software and it worked fine after that. I was using that joystick again a month ago and the computer would still run fine. However, now, it doesn't. I deleted the drivers and software related to saitek and it still freezes without fail a minute or two after startup.

1. Reset my router so that I could reconfigure it to be a little more secure.
2. Added a new laptop to the home group (NOT the machine having problems).

My first step was to try and system restore back to before the ITUNES. That failed because of a lock up. I then system restored back to when I installed itunes which was successful. The problem persisted. I then just went for a re-installation of Windows 7 (was being impatient). This was successful. Problem still occurs.I ran a a diagnostics test from the Bios and received this
