Windows Freezing Constantly

Jul 10, 2011

my computer keeps constantly freezing. I have tried various trouble shooting tips and I am quite computer savvy myself but nothing seems to work. I bought and replaced the hard drive which actually seemed to work for awhile approximantly a week before it froze again. It isnt a software problem because I've had this computer for well over two years now and I have tried to format to fix the problem but it doesnt work. Which leads me to think it may be a hard ware problem.

Windows 7 64 Bit Constantly Freezing

Jun 4, 2012

I have an E-machines EL1358-53 desktop with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit OS.

The system seems to freeze up (no blue screen, just not responding), mostly when Windows boots up, or working on files through the network. I have tried to restore to previous date, and also wiped out hard drive and re installed windows. I do not really know what to do at this point, nor do i want to spend the money out of my budget to buy a new desktop.

Windows 7 Constantly Freezing?

Jan 8, 2012

I have windows 7 home premium and it constantly freezes. I think it may be the video driver but I'm not sure, and if it was I wouldn't know how to fix it. I just wiped my computer so viruses can't be the problem. Surfing the internet I freeze, attempts at playing video games I freeze, it's a real nuisance. It already happened one time while typing this. It will last for about ten seconds and occur anywhere from 5 seconds to 20 minutes apart.

Specs are: Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6300 @1.86ghz 1.87 ghz
RAM:2.00GB
32bit
Video Drive:NVIDIA Geforce 2010

Windows 7 Freezing And Constantly Writing To HDD

Aug 17, 2012

My new Lenovo T520 is behaving weirdly. It just randomly started happening on the evening of the 14th, and has continued since. My computer turns on, and everything loads, but then it just siezes up. I was able to open Task Manager, it shows my CPU Usage at 0%, and my memory usage at about 40% with 70 processes running. Opening up Resource monitor, under disk, i shows my disk is constantly reading and writing. At first there was an SVCHost that was constantly reading - Superfetch, so I disabled this. I saw improved performance for one day. I did a system restore back to 3 days ago, and saw performance improvement once again for 1 day. I removed everything from startup, and turned off as many services as I could. Under device manager, in the driver section, I found an error with the Security something driver (I cannot remember exactly, and my computer will not let me browse anywhere) so I uninstalled this driver. (I was going to update it in safemode, but it will not let me) In the system event log, ever since the 15th, I am seeing lots of events, these events were for Computer Browser services not starting - services which I did not disable. (Maybe I did, but I set all services I turned off to Manual not Disabled, so it should have started when it was called).

Windows 7 Constantly Freezing / Kernal Power Error 41?

Jul 25, 2012

Have had a home built PC now for a bout a year, i have my OS running from dual SSDs in a RAID configuration (for fast access of databases), recently i noticed my machine began crashing a few times more than i had been used to, but recently it has really started to increase in frequency. When i turn the power off to my machine and reboot, what often happens is the system freezes again just before i reach the password login screen (freezes at the screen with the windows logo). I have checked the event viewer, heres what i found after the last crash today.

It Is Freezing Constantly

Dec 9, 2011

I am having huge problems with my pc. I very rarely use is as my wife and kids tend to always be on it but, when I've come to try and use it, it freezes all the time for about 5 minutes, then works for a few more minutes before freezing again with the message (not responding) at the top. My wife tells me it's been like this for months and months. I've tried everything on the Norton 360 package that I have but nothing at all seems to speed it up. I've spoken to the tech guys who supply my broadband and after running several tests they insist it's not a broadband problem. I don't know what to do next to try to get rid of this problem.

Laptop Freezing For 5-30 Seconds Constantly?

Jan 24, 2013

A few day's ago I started encountering freezing issues when on google chrome and skype. They'd usually last for about 5-30 seconds as the title suggests when it happens I can still move the mouse but during the longer freezes the mouse will go unresponsive. So far I've only encountered one freeze that has forced me to hold down the power button to turn off the laptop. The processes i've done so far to fix this s are an Advanced System care full scan, ccleaner, defraggler , disk doctor (part of advanced system care ) clean result, Ive also done a boot time self test by pressing F10 at start (sorry im not sure exactly what this is ) the memory test came clean, and the HDD self test failed the first time i did it on test 2 (comprehensive) saying Error: read memory. I re-did it yesterday and it passed all 3 tests. The freezes usually occur when I click on an application and it takes an abnormal amount of time to load and then it freezes.

Newly Built Computer Random Freezing And Freezing On Starting Windows 7

Aug 17, 2012

I recently built my first PC three days ago...

Specs:
i7 bloomfield 960 processor
4x4 vengeance ram
crosair hx850 PSU
evga x58 ftw3 mobo
hd 6870 radeon graphics xfx

When I first installed windows it started to work just fine but I soon noticed that it would randomly freeze every 15-30 minutes of use, but not on a particular program or anything. I assumed it was drivers so I installed the latest drivers for my GPU and MOBO and keyboard. It seemed fine again until it started crashing again. I ran a GPU burn test and a CPU burn test it passed both. (I tried runing memtest86+ but it froze at like 12%) Then I tried fixing the registry so I downloaded ccleaner and fixed the registry problems. Freezes continued. I finally decided to re install windows so I did and the problems still continued. I am at a loss of what to do and can't think of anything else.

Persistent Freezing Blue Screens And Freezing

Mar 14, 2012

Computer is currently suffering from persistent freezing and bluescreens. It seems to happen almost randomly, and usually very soon after startup and loading of Windows. System restore has not helped.'fraid that's all the info I can give right now. Any recommendations? If anyone wants me to run hijackthis or dxdiag and post results I'd be more than happy to (assuming I can get that far before it freezes!). Safe mode does work, and the problem does not occur while in safe mode.

Windows 7 Constantly Goes Back To Log In?

May 22, 2012

It is running 64 bit Windows 7 Home Premium with 4 gigs of Ram.The problem they are having is that as soon as they stop working with any program, game, etc. the computer will go back to the log in menu and wait until their password has been entered. Once it does, it will go back to where it was. I was running Windows Update and it did it then. It is so weird to see it part way through an update download and have it go back to the sign in.I've tried the following:

1.I reset all setting to Never so that the computer should never go to sleep.

2.I deleted the password on the computer. Now my friend doesn't need to log in but the computer still waits for her to click on the administrative icon before it goes back to Windows.

I don't understand this problem. I've looked all over the net and even supposed to have solved the problems by several of the posts but it just doesn't work. I can't understand that if the computer is "NEVER" supposed to go to sleep why it is!

Windows 7 Constantly Breaking

Jun 7, 2011

So I don't know what happened but while I was working a few days ago, windows just started getting really really slow. Everything started breaking, vidoe, audio. It couldn't open a single program. I could however run a virus scan (that took hours), and no relevant threat was found. So I tried running Ubuntu to get my stuff out of there as I usually do and not even that worked. It still was really slow.So I re.installed it anyways losing whatever I had there, which was not much. Anyways, now, although it's not nearly as bad, it will break often times when I run for an example, firefox and windows media player. Which is nothing demanding at all. I ran a virus scan again, and no threat is found.

Windows 7 Pro Crashing Constantly?

Feb 19, 2012

I'm at my wits end here trying to figure out why this system is crashing.I'm using the fully updated Windows 7 Pro and the for some reason In have programs that are using 40-50% of the cpu just prior to a system crash. IDvault was the first progam to do this so I went into safe mode and removed the related Norton program. Then Google Chrome did the same thing so I removed it. Now Steam is doing the same thing. After each removal the system works fine for a short period of time. Without removal it simply crashed without any error message. After the last crash the sytem diagnostic in safe mode found that 'superfetch' was not running. After a reboot to regular windows the system worked again.I have not been able to reload Norton the program will download but not run.I have run Windows Defender and Microsoft Safety Scanner but they have not located any virus and the system just crashed again but this time without any associated high cpu usage.

Constantly Getting Windows Did Not Start Up

Feb 17, 2013

I'm currently running Windows 7 and since yesterday morning every time I start up Windows I get the message Windows did not start up or couldn't start up and the choices I have are Launch Repairs (Recommended) or Start Windows Normally.Well the first time I saw this I launched Repairs and it seemed like it found something wrong but after trying to repair it it said it couldn't fix it. Then I restarted my computer and I got it again. This time I just chose Start Windows Normally and it works fine, it actually just started normally. Now every time I start up my computer I keep getting that error where Windows didn't load/start up but as long as I click on Start Windows Normally everything works fine. Obviously this is not a good thing and I couldn't find anything online, all I found are people having problems with their computer shutting down which mine isn't, everything works fine and shutting it down is giving me no problems only the fact when I start up windows.

Windows Constantly Losing Focus?

Aug 13, 2009

I've had Windows 7 RC1 for a few months now, and up until now it's been working flawlessly. Now when I'm doing anything, I click with the mouse, the window loses focus to another window. This is hard to describe but I've noticed that some of the open programs on the taskbar also disappear but then reappear almost instantly while this is happening. If I have multiple programs open they'll even rearrange the order (not the pinned programs), ie: firefox open and i have control panel open, firefox will flicker, lose focus, then the program icon will disappear from the left of the control panel and then be on the right, as if I had opened it after I had opened Control Panel.

It might be important to note that I just installed a windows update yesterday, that's the only thing I've really changed.

I'm running a Dell XPS M1530, 2 gigs of ram, and I have about 8 gigs free on my windows drive. I'm running a GeForce 8600M GT driver version 176.44 (forceware drivers). I use a Logitech VX Nano mouse.

I don't even really know how to diagnose the problem - I was thinking maybe driver issues or maybe even a mouse issue

Windows 7 Constantly Reports Low Memory

Aug 31, 2012

I have HP 6150ew laptop with 4GB of RAM (+1024MB pagefile). I am working on Windows 7 64bit Ultimate version. Usually I have a lot of Chrome pages opened (like 20), MS Outlook, uTorrent + Excel/Word. The problem is that often I receive memory low message and from time to time Chrome crashes. If I will launch AutoCAD/Photosop, Chrome immeadately crashes from because of the low memory. That was not the case when I had a fresh system so I suspect some kind of infection.

I have also installed VMWare Workstation some time ago. From time to time I run only one test VM which has 1,9GB ram assigned, but at the time a got these memory monits, VM was not running (VMWare had a few kB of RAM assigned) so I guess VMWare is not taking 1,9GB at all times.

I ran ComboFix, maybe someone could look at the report file Code: ComboFix 12-08-30.05 - kuki 2012-08-31 0:18.1.4 - x64

Windows 7 Losing Focus Constantly?

Jun 18, 2012

I reinstalled windows 7 about an hour ago.The reason I decided to reinstall was because I was having the minor annoyance of windows losing focus, as if I had clicked the taskbar or something (but I didn't).The problem is still here. I just reinstalled, I got rid of windows.old, and task manager reports a whopping 36 processes running. The only programs I have installed are Firefox, Flash, and Microsoft Security Essentials. I have visited no suspicious websites in the past half hour. What the heck do I do now? There are absolutely NO programs that I know of that could possibly be causing this problem. I can only conclude that it must be malware. If so, how can I reinstall again so that there is nothing left behind from the old installation? Because windows.old was there, maybe whatever was on my old install carried over.

Windows Media Centre Opening By Itself Constantly

Windows Media Centre keeps opening up all the time, every few minutes or so. But it's always if I'm doing something. Just closed a program? Windows Media Centre opens. Just saved something? Windows Media Centre opens. Minimizing Firefox to get ready to open something else? You guessed it.But if the computer is idle it won't happen. There is also nothing else apparently wrong with the computer.I never use Windows Media Centre so I wouldn't even mind getting rid of it but I don't know if Windows Media Player relies on it which I do use for certain video formats from time to time. So unless someone says otherwise, I'd rather just disable it as opposed to removing it.
