Computer With Windows 7 64 Bits Won't Start
Jun 8, 2012
My computer crashed while performing an update I think. I saw that it was performing updates so I went to do something else. When I came back computer was off. I tried to turn it on but it gets to the screen where I usually enter my password and stops there (before the login window appears)
Tried Launch startup repair but didn't work Tried Safe Launch but didn't work Tried booting from last known good configuration but didn't work Tried repair your computer but all I get is 'Windows is loading files' then it goes to the login screen but nothing appears. Can't find my install disk...
Sometimes before it crashes I see a blue error screen flicker but it's gone before I can read it.
Also ran a memory diagnostics tool. It says that no problems were detected but I can't see the actual results because they are displayed after I log on but I don't get there

When i got home today didn't my computer work, my girlfriend has been the last one using it. So don't know how things were just before the shutdown or anything.when i turn on the computer i get to the screen where "touch bios" is and where i can see the options like Bios settings, boot menu, xpress recovery.but i cant press anything, and after about two seconds on that screen the PC shuts down again. The keyword lights up so there is a responds on it, but just doesn't work to press anything before it shuts down.I've got BSOD upto several times a day for a few months time.believe that my computer is affected by some virus or something is delaying my computer. might be an combination of several things.I got no external things hugged up to the stationeer computer right now.it is a windows 7 x64 machine.
usually when i get issues i can access advanced boot up or bios, but can neither in this case..I wonder if it might be a hardware issue.

I put my computer on hibernate like i always do then went to finish my essay and it wouldn't start it just stayed on a black screen saying starting windows yet the flag wasn't appearing. I did the memory test and the diagnostic the only test that failed was the hard drive 1. I've tried launching the repair but it just stays on a blue screen.

My problem is that windows 7 won't start on my computer, it keeps saying "bootmgr missing, press ctrl+alt+delete to restart" (this is not 100% word for word but it is what it means), here is a little background of what is going on:So I bought a 500GB WD hard drive, the reason why I bought this new hard drive was because my dad's old computer (the one he gave me cause I needed one for school) did not come with one (he took his old hard drive cause it had his work in it). After that, I took just the my new drive to my friend's house to format the hard drive to NTFS format, and I made 3 partitions, 'x', 'y' and 'z', with 150GB, 150GB and 200GB respectively. After that, I downloaded Windows7 from a microsoft sponsored website for free (because I am an engineering student at a university), and I am 100% certain that this website is good because I have downloaded from it before and it worked perfectly fine on my mac (I installed windows 7 on my mac using boot manager).
I installed windows7 to this new hard drive (partition 'x'), and everything went fine, set up computer name, copy some school files into the new drive. Now here is the problem, when I take it home and try to run from my computer (with only this WD 500GB drive in it, it is the only one I got), it doesn't work, I googled some solutions and found out that I had to set one of the partitions as active, so I went back to my friend's house and set partition 'x' as active (the partition where I installed windows7, partition 'y' and 'z' are just to store files, maybe I'll install Linux in the near future). After that, I disconnected all of his hard drives with only mine left connected to the computer, nothing was changed in the Bios, when we try to boot up with only my hard drive in it, it says "bootmgr missing, press ctrl+alt+delete to restart", which makes absolutely no sense.I connected his hard drive back, and once we boot the computer it asks us which windows to boot from, we selected mine and it boots up just fine. I do not have the windows7 disk, I only have a downloaded file which is an .ISO image

which of the two versions of windows 7 is better, 32 bits or 64bit. I tried installing adobe suite but some of the programmes didn't install because the minimum system requirements (64bits) were not met. I have been using 32 bits all my life. should i or should i not pass to 64bit?

page_fault_in_nonpaged_areaSTOP: 0X00000050ndis.sysI am attaching the dump file to this post.By the way I had this blue screen before (with other message) I tried several times to update my drivers and I keep getting the error because there seems to be a problem between my video card and the driver. My video card has an nvidia chipset (is not a real nvidia card) and I had try to download the right drivers but the installation fails every time. Well, I've been trying to install this for a long time and I don't seem to finnish it. The installation shows a "did not install" message. I've searched through the internet about solutions and found in my pc a ie9_main.log that shows everything about the installation.

If I had ONLY 4 gigs RAM, will I be better off with 32 or 64 bits? I'm leaning towards 64 bit to be more future-proof. But will this also make every application use twice as much memory as before? Something like registers using twice as much data? With 6+ gigs, 64 bit is the only choice, but with 4 gigs I don't have a clear answer.

Yesterday evening, 14 Dec., when shutting down the computer, 10 updates were received. This morning, 15 Dec., when booting up for the first time, I was presented with the green screen that said "Preparing to Configure Windows. Do not turn off your computer." It has been sitting there like that for over an hour and a half. I think something may have gone wrong

I may have made a boo boo. I bought a used computer today without an HDD or an OS. I had an old XP computer that had two 1TB drives. I installed a legitimate upgrade of Windows 7 on the C: drive over XP and put it in the new computer. Now, it won't start, and startup repair does nothing. I don't have the XP disk since I bought the computer 7 years ago, and it disappeared since.

I got a lot of BSOD on Windows 7 64 bits.I have updated the video cards drivers and all the others drivers windows update suggestI have run the Windows 7 mem test 2 times without any error. The weird thing is that the stop code change a lot. Here is the computer spec: HP Pavilion a6318f PC (GX769AA) specifications - HP Home & Home Office Products With a 8800 GT geforce 4 instead of the default card and 3 gigs instead of 2.For now, I'm thinking of trying another video card or doing a windows repair. But I would like if someone that know how to read dmp file could point me in the right direction.

I bought a new pc with Intel i3 2120 CPU, Asus P8B75-v mainboar and 8gb DDR3 2166mhz memory. I've installed windows 7 64bit but it's not starting after the fresh install. I tried starting the computer with onboard VGA but it's looping in restarts. After testing all the components, I managed to start the computer using a discret video card. It runs fine. When I switch to integrated GPU, the sistem enters the restarting loops. I've done some check up's in BIOS and selected video mode to AUTO or GPU but no succes. I installed the latest video driver for intel 2000hd but it;s still not starting with the onboard vga.

This is my first post on tomshardware.com but I just want to say that I LOVE this website! I am on it all the time looking up reviews, and guides, and tips, and comparisons. I can't imagine that this isn't on the forums but couldn't seem to find it (sorry for repeat if so!). It's simple to describe - sometimes (not all the time) if I minimize, move, or close a window bits of it remain on screen cut off. It doesn't seem to be a specific program and it happens with the right-click menus too. Is this just a driver issue? That's the only thing I can think of.

My friend was having problems with her computer. So I ran a few programs to check it out and clean it up.. (AVG, CCleaner, AntiMalware...) But then after running the last one and rebooting, the screen goes black once Windows starts to load. Then the mouse appears but still nothing. I tried safe mode and still nothing... Not sure what to do, but just gaining access to copy files to an external hard drive is important. I was planning to reformat anyways..
