View 1 RepliesMy Internet connection has been very shaky these past few day and now it refuses to work on either of my computers except for Skype on the wireless connection of my laptop.
The main desktop is connected to the router and modem yet can't access the Internet, with a "no Internet access" sign, while the laptop says it IS connected yet I can only use Skype.
My dads computer is broke And it has no access to anything no power. Alls it can do is turn on.
View 48 Replies View Relatedi am having trying to get my homegroup setup on my main computer? from my understanding it is pretty simple (apparently not for me). i'm not getting the "join now" page when i go the homegroup in control panel. this is the only page i keep getting, i've pretty much tried everything but i keep getting this page, not the "join now" page. i've watched videos on Internet on how to do it but it's not doing what it is suppose to do.
i'm not sure but i think it might have something to do with my router?
I recently bought a new Dell XPS Ultrabook 13 with i7 processor. It worked fine for about three weeks, then all of a sudden it refuses to connect to the internet. I am still connected to my wifi network, but the network and sharing centre shows the connection as dropped between the hub and the internet. Troubleshooter offers no answers. I know other Windows7 users have experienced this and so I have ALREADY done the following: Tried accessing the internet in safe mode with networking. This works, so it is not a hardware issue. I can definitely access this web in this way. Rebooting my wireless router etc. I know this is not the issue though, as other devices such as my iPhone can still access the web through it (and the XPS, in safe mode)
View 5 Replies View RelatedMain computer is the office computer. Its a desktop that a person is constantly on and doing stuff. There are 3 others that need the same information and documents at any given time. These 3 people have their laptops that are constantly switching wifi hotspots. They need to change information sometimes, and need access to all of it any time. The way its setup now is 1 person is on the main computer, but when one of the three need to access it, they remotely log in and take control. Only one person can access the computer at a time. How do I set it up so all four of these people can access and change the files at the same time if they want? The main computer is being used constantly, but someone always needs a document or file while the main person is working on it. So it slows production when someone logs in.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy computer wouldn't shut down, even with holding in the power button, and so I just let it run out the battery. Then it wont turn on. I tried holding down the power button to clear out any charge that might be remaining. I have managed to get it back on, but I have to make a connection at the clip where you plug the power button ribbon into the mobo. Also, this is the second time I have had to do this. The computer works fine afterwards...or seems to anyway.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an Acer w/ 8gb of ram(Newly installed was 4gb) w/ a 1TB HDD. On idle it range's from about 16-20%(1200-1600mb) I've had a few windows open w/ music video's plying etc. and it's never gone past 28% that's why I think at idle its high.
Is this normal. I opened up task manager under memory and closed some thing's I didn't need but it still seems pretty high.
i was playing minecraft when suddenly y computer freezes and it begins to restart. at that point i thought maybe: "oh, minecraft crashed my computer". but little to my knowledge it was worse than that.I have an ASUS G50vt, and it has always run pretty good and i have the rare problem, but nothing this bad.i can boot in safe mode so i deduced that is might not be the hadware then i thought that it could be java, so i uninstalled minecraft and all files related, then i went to uninstall java but i realized that i cant when in SAFE MODE.ive tried the javara thing and still nothing and i even made it to where my computer wont restart when it crashes.

My computer had been running slowly and freezing a lot, so a few days ago I went through and deleted temporary files, changed it so fewer programs would run at start-up, uninstalled Adaware because I had read that it could conflict with antivirus software, ran a scan in avast, and then restarted. After restarting, the computer got to the blue welcome screen, and then stopped before it finished loading. Since then, I've only been able to boot in safe mode.I thought I might have a virus, so I ran some scans over the weekend at the advice of somebody on a different website's forums, but I haven't gotten anywhere.

When I play Games or doing normal browsing, my computer will hang and everything will freeze for about a minute or two. It's more when I play Video games than when I surf the internet. It then returns to normal and I can do whatever for the next 10-15 minutes, and then it does it again. I tryed to get past it but it starts to do it more frequently.

Now that I re-installed Windows 7 on it through recovery disks, it worked fined for about a day but then the problem came back. The computer is slow at bootup and runs super slow while freezing so many times. I am running it on safe mode right now and its working fine.
View 9 Replies View RelatedEvery time I manually start hibernation it will begin the process; the monitor will go blank, the harddrive starts making the image and after about 30 seconds the the monitor comes on and the computer is in normal operation. I have tried enabling it with the command line (powercfg -h on) as the administrator with no success. This just started yesterday. I have not installed any new applications or any new updates.

Every time I power on my PC, or reboot, my Internet connection does not work for a few mins. Windows loads with out errors and shows the little blue circle on my Network Icon. Then the icon goes to a red x for a few mins, then goes to a Yellow triangle thing and then it goes away. After that the Internet works fine. Also, about every other day I get packet loss and random disconnects.
This is my network setup.
1. Windows 7 professional 64bit PC and an Acer Windows Vista 64bit home premium Laptop.
2. ASUS P5QL PRO LGA 775 motherboard with most current Network driver from Asus website.
3. D-Link DIR-655 Draft 2 Xtreme N Gigabit Wireless Router running from my cable modem to my PC and spitting wireless to my house. The wireless never seems to have a problem. I have not updated the firmware because of brick fears.
4. I have a Motorola SURFboard® Cable Modem SB5100. I own it and it's from about 2004. Not sure if that matters.
Troubleshooting I've done.
1. Unplugged the cable modem.
2. Updated the mobo LAN driver from ASUS website.
3. Rebooted Wireless router.
4. Plugged and unplugged all network jacks to make sure they are in tight.
5. Checked that cable is tightly screwed into cable jack in wall and in back of cable modem.
6. When the internet connection drops or shows packet loss I do the Ipconfig/release and Ipconfig/renew.
It's almost like after every reboot Windows 7 looses my network info and has to re-detect it all over again. It is really odd.
Basically what happens is there's a sudden slowdown in computer performance. For example if I'm listening to a live stream, watching a video, or playing a game it will suddenly all go into slow motion for a few seconds and then return to normal speed. I know it's more of a global problem because I can see it happening with other programs, too. When a web page is loading the load speed may suddenly go very slowly for a few seconds, or even if I'm typing in Microsoft Word I'll keep hitting keys, and the keystrokes will be logged, but no words will appear for a few seconds and then it will suddenly have to catch up.
What I've tried to do: A friend suggested my CPU was overloaded, but I checked my CPU usage and it's always quite low, as in below 50% as far as I've ever seen. Someone else suggested defragmenting my hard drive, which I did using TuneUp Utilities, but if anything that made the problem worse, because now in addition to slowing down sometimes things will just stop for a few seconds, or web pages will time out but when I reload them they work fine. My machine: I'm using a Lenovo Ideapad, intel Core i7, 4 GB RAM.
I have Win7 on my desktop PC, and sometimes when I start up the computer, it won't have any internet access. On more rare occasions, it will do the same thing when I resume from Sleep. Windows usually solves the problem by itself, but it that takes about a minute or so.
I know it's not the modem or the router, becuz other computers on my wi-fi network can access the internet even when the main PC can't. I did a search and found a few things about reinstalling Office 2010 or disabling IPv6, but that doesn't work for some people. Those posts are also 3-4yrs old, so it seems like there should have been patches
My laptop is 1 year old and has worked great until a month ago. I was unable to connect to the internet and thru troubleshooting got a "missing network adapter". I have since upgraded the driver. I also purchased Registry cleaner program that supposedly found over 400 registry errors.I found by accident that I was able to connect normally if I turned the PC off by holding the power button. Then restarting, I got a message to start windows normally. When I did, and then it connected to the internet normally.Now, each night if I leave the power connected to the laptop and shut down windows from the Start command it works fine. I do not want to have to leave the power connected. Toshiba tech support is unable to help other that suggesting I return the PC to the "out of the box' status which is totally unacceptable to me.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have 2 computers here. One is a E-Machines, and the other is a custom built. Both units as soon as you power them on, they go thru the boot up process, but anywhere from 2 to 10 seconds later, the unit turns off. I've tried swapping the ram and the power supply. I have disconnected the keyboard, monitor, mouse and speakers with no change. Both of them developed this problem over night. They do not stay booted up long enough to get into the setup or to even try booting from a DVD.

The minor power interruption shut down one of the hard drives but then came back online and the computer remained on (surprised me that such a thing could happen.) Afterwards the autoplay came up for the C drive and it messed with things. My computer still starts up but takes a long time before the windows logo comes up and actually starts. other programs were put back to default settings and I don't know what to do. View 4 Replies View RelatedToday I got 2 new 4GB sticks of Corsair Vengeance Blue RAM to go with the 8GB I already have in my system (same RAM as well). After all 4 sticks were installed, my computer failed to power on properly. It would power on for about 5-6 seconds then shut off, and continuously try to start up again, only to shut back down. I did have a few minor overclocks in place so I went into BIOS and reset everything back to default, but the computer still refuses to power on with all 4 sticks in place. I've tried different combinations of the 4 sticks and they all work fine as long as all 4 aren't hooked up at the same time. My PSU is 650W if that helps. I really doubt 2 additional sticks of RAM is making much difference in power usage.
Note: As to why I need/want 16GB of RAM, I play around with Photoshop + do some video editing in After Effects and Premiere, and I found myself maxing out the 8GB I had rather easily.
Just wondering, is there a way so that if for example, I have a video folder that is being shared on the network, to continue being shared, even if the computer is turned off? I want to be able to share my files 24/7 but I dont want to keep the computer running all the time. Is there a way to share while in a very low power state?
