Nov 7, 2009When I right click a photo and click "edit", I would like for it to use Paint instead of whatever that default program is.
How do I do this?

Program For Changing Logon Screen
Sep 29, 2009I used a very simple program in August when the RTM first came out to change the logon screen without having to deal with the registry. Now I can't find it; it was something that didn't require installation, because it doesn't appear in the start menu. Just needed to point to the jpg I wanted and it changed it for me. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Changing Program Files To Another Drive
Jun 2, 2012I bought a SSD 60GB and installed Windows. I have a 1TB storage drive, but I want everything to be defaulted there. I changed registry so that "Program Files" is default on the storage drive. But here is what is happening, I'm installing for example AI SUITE II to that directory, but it's still creating ASUS stuff on the SSD drive? Is there any way to get all parts of the program installed to the data drive?

Jul 3, 2012Currently my Windows 7 is on the C drive, now my question is this: Is there a way I can say put in a SSD, then copy my entire windows and the Programs Files, Program Files x86 and the users folder to it, then switch my old HDD to the D drive and the SSD to the C and have it work just fine? Is there an easy way to do this? or will it require me to reinstall windows to do it? Been thinking about getting a 120 GB ssd for my os/program drive, and using my 1.5 tb drive as storage.

Jul 8, 2012This all started whenever I wanted to change my text size different by changing my DPI settings. What I did was right click, go to screen resolution, and clicked on "Make text and other items larger or smaller". From this I changed it to 100% from 125%. I noticed it had changed my font size to the 100%. It then made everything SUPER small when I changed my theme settings.Whenever I right click and go into personalization settings, I do the usual customizing to my likings. Since I want to save the theme, I do so by naming it, blah. Now I want to use the blah theme by click on it, and I do so. Everything is fine and dandy until I right click my desktop to refresh(out of habit). This is the before and after of the font sizes.

My workaround was to set a custom DPI setting, log off like it prompts me to, then changing it back to 100%, again prompting to do so. It is so annoying to do so.

Dec 12, 2011I don't know where this error hs_err_pid came from.I closed down explorer and there were all this notepad messages on my desktop and I can't get rid of them. Researching, I know this is a Java thing. I've uninstalled and reinstalled several times to no avail.My windows update is fully updated.I've run 3 virus programs.I notice this was addressed for someone using XP but what of Windows 7? My add/remove program file only contines the program Java (TM) update 29. Nothing else is listed as far as Java is concerned.I've run cleaner programs and these did not take care of the problem. Feb 25, 2012I have been using a program called Raw Therapee. I downloaded a new version and on installing it quit saying the old version must be removed. I could not find it listed in Revo Unistaller Pro, so I did a forced uninstall with the location of the main executable. This removed a lot of stuff. I checked the program folder and the folder and many files were still there, so I deleted them. I did a CCleaner in between and after. I then unhide and show system files and deleted the folders in the Appdata of main user and admin account, couldn't find it anywhere else.
CCleaner again and reboot. Went to install the new version again and it claimed that the old version was still installed. I did a search for *aw The* and found an entry in the hidden Program Data Folder. In the Admin account it will not let me in this folder to delete any remnants of the old version of Raw Therapee.
ArcSoft TV Program Giving Pop Up When Set To Record TV Program?
Oct 3, 2012I have an issue with my ArcSoft TV program. Recently something changed and now I get the UAC pop up asking if I want this program to make changes to my computer.Issue is this, I can set to record a program, but with the pop up now coming up, I have to be avaliable to click to record the progarm.Currently I have the UAC set not to ask (pop up). However I understand the reason for the UAC asking and I prefer it to ask. So what I need is a way to allow ArcSoft to run without the pop up, but all other programs to ask for security. What is the way to do this for this one program?

Aug 31, 2011Running Windows 7 Pro, 64bit.We have a package of scripts and programs that comprise a custom application for OpenOffice 3.2 (do not want to upgrade OO at this point). We must support our package on Win XP, Vista and 7.A bunch of our scripts start up OpenOffice by running the command: C:Program FilesOpenOffice.org 3programsoffice.exe (with arguments).Works fine on XP. Fails on Windows 7 because the OO program installs itself into Program Files (x86). Even if I change properties of the installer file, in the Compatibility tab, to Win XP SP3, AND tell the installer to put it in C:Program Files, Windows 7 still installs it into Program Files (x86). We would LIKE to have the same script work on both flavors of Windows. I know we can modify our scripts to branch on which Windows, and choose two different paths to soffice.exe, but that's messy.I can't solve it by creating a shortcut in Program Files, to the program in Program Files (x86); that's not allowed.Is there some solution in Windows 7 to find the program no matter which place it lives? Like, a semi-intelligent environment variable for ProgramFiles that looks in one place, then the other?

Can't Run Installed Program Within Program Files
Feb 15, 2012I gave a try to the Setup Project of VStudio 2008 to create and distribute an x86 installer of a program I develop in Windows 7. After installing, uninstalling and executing over and over some of the features of my release distribution, I suppose I broke a windows registry or something related. I can't run anymore this app, whether from executing from the shortcut or directly, it just sends an error "Couldn't start the application correctly (0xe06d7363). Accept to close", there is no other option. Later I found out that moving exactly the installed content somewhere else out side the Program Files x86 dir, the application works flawlessly. Browsing, finding and deleting all references in regedit for my program didn't fix anything. I double checked my project is fine, and also created another installer version using the tool Inno setup producing exactly the same behavior; good install, error message when executing it inside the Program Files folder. Am clueless what else to do with the OS to fix this. Using CCleaner and/or my anti virus don't show any broken reference to my program, it seems clean. Can anyone help me?

Apr 25, 2011I just did a recent new build and have a SSD drive for my OS and some apps and a 1TB SATA drive for everything else. I installed windows and it installed it to C:, my SSD, but after thinking about it I believe it would be easier in the long run to have my OS/few apps on the SSD to be X: or something else since most apps/games default install to C:, which I want for my 1TB, so I won't have to edit it for every install. Will simply renaming the drive letter cause any problems (nothing installed now except ASUS MB drivers, EVGA drivers, and Firefox)?

The OS was upgraded to Win7 Home Premium from WinXP Pro SP3. My User Name was created and is still visible in CUsers, and I would like to change it to another entry. When this is attempted under User Accounts, Users"My User Name""New User Name" is the result. Is there any way of achieving Users"New User Name" without a clean install? I dread this option, since I would have to reinstall WinXP Pro then Win7 Premium Upgrade.

May 27, 2011Ever since I changed to Win 7 my mp3 files will every once in a while will change to .TMP. I then have to change them back to mp3 by showing the extention and then editing the name to change it back. Why is it doing this? I have tried re-converting them to mp3 (dispite being mp3's) but it doesn't work.
Now, when I was volume leveling everything, 860 songs changed their extention to .TMP. Is there a way to get them back to mp3 without editing them one by one. And, again, why is it doing this.
BSOD After Changing PSU To New One

May 1, 2011I downloaded the IE9 update a couple of weeks ago, and since then I can't download anything from anywhere. I can't download files from the web, I can't download pictures that are attached in emails I receive in Hotmail or anything. If I click on anything that leads to a download, IE9 stops working and a pop-up message tells me the same. Then it shuts down all instances of IE, and restarts one browser.

Jul 15, 2009So what i want to do is change my key functions on my keyboard (example: rather than ctrl-c i want to use command-c "aka windows-c")but i don't want to change the command key to be ctrl but make it so windows recognizes it as copy when i push command-c also want to change other stuff like ctrl-alt-del and paste and closing windows
the reason i don't want to change command to ctrl is if im in an application that i need to control i want to be able to hit the actual ctrl key.
i basically want to make my windows feel a little more like macintosh not in the way of looks but function of keys. hope it makes sense and hope someone knows how to do it.
