I recently installed a Canon MX860 multi-function printer and it's software package, including the app that controls the scanning function. That app, Navigator EX 2.1, won't open. It returns an error message saying the program has encountered an error (unspecified) and will let me know when Windows determines what it is. An older version of the software for an older printer worked fine.On the advice of Canon, I installed the software under a different user account and it worked fine.I've cleaned the registry of all mentions of the older program and have also run Registry Booster to correct errors. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the printer and the software several times. Why would a program work under one user account and not another? Both were set up as administrators.
I have just changed laptop to one using Windows 7-64 bit. I have a Canon MP830 printer/scanner and have downloaded the latest MP Navigator software/drivers from the Canon website but when I run it I get a error "CODE : 2,155,0" unable to connect to scanner.
I have done all the usual things, changing USB cable, uninstalling, rebooting, reinstalling etc. but to no avail.
I have just downloaded Vuescan as a trial and it works perfectly.
I apparently have the Driver Navigator software installed. I usually do not have any manager other than what is absolutely necessary, automatically scan my system. I much prefer to manually request the scan. However, this thing popped up by itself automatically this morning after I turned my pc on.
Vista x64 natively supported a bunch of canon printers with x64 drivers. For some printers this support has gone under Windows 7 x64. Perhaps this will help some people ... .
I mounted a Vista x64 ISO-image/source, extracted the folder with the canon printer drivers and installed the Colorpass Z40e driver under Windows 7 x64. In my case I used this driver für a Canon Colorpass Z400e (Canon CLC 1100).
Extraxct :
- use 7zip
- under options check "wim"
- open the install.wim an verify your vista version (important if there is a 64bit and 32 bit version on the same DVD, in my case there was only a 64bit on the systembuilder DVD)
- choose the right folder and extract the canon printer driver folder with 7zip
Upgraded desktop to 64-bit and discovered that my Canon LiDe80 and Canon PIXMA iP4000 drivers are incompatible. So after some research and not sure how accurate, I read that the professional version would allow more of the 32-bit drivers to work.
I have a small network of six computers. Five of them run XP and I just added a Windows 7 machine. I've got a Microsoft Access 2003 database that all of the computers share that is hosted on one of the XP machines. The Windows 7 machine can access the Access database through the network just fine, as long as no one else is accessing it. However, if someone else on an XP machine on the network is using the file, it won't open on the Windows 7 machine. Doubling clicking the file on Windows 7 gives me the circling blue icon for a second or two, then nothing happens. If the XP user exits the database, then I can open it fine.
When I have a couple of screens open on my desktop. When I click on an icon for, lets say, iTunes, I can see the iTunes window appear behind the translucent taskbar of Win 7. Ditto for MS World. How do i get programs that are already open to open up with ONE click, instead of having to closed down all the other windows.
For a while my windows 7 64 bit would open my images in Documents. Now when I try they appear as a garbled strange format. If I go to PSP ProX2 they open fine. This is a problem for me since I often need to add images to document Newsletters I send out.
I have a fairly new HP Desktop PC. I'm running Windows 7 Home 64-bit SP1. Yesterday I noticed that iTunes won't open when I double-click on the shortcut icon on my desktop. I restarted my computer, same issue. I restarted in Safe Mode, same issueI did notuninstall/reinstall because I also can't open my Spybot-SD. Same thing happens. The process is listed in Task Manager, but the programs just don't open. I have not trieduninstalling/reinstalling the programs because I tried doing a System Restore back to early February. The System Restore was successful but the problem persists. Also, Windows Media Player opens, but it opens weird, wherein it freezes on a white square for a few minutes before finally loading. Also, my DVD burning software, DVD Flick, opens but first it freezes on a yellow square.
It's hard to Google this problem because of all the programs involved, and I'm sure there are more programs that won't open that I'm just not aware of yet. I didn't do anything that I can think of that could've caused the problem (and if I had, the system restore would've fixed it). So I scanned my PC for viruses with Symantec and I also scanned for malware with Microsoft Security Essentials and both scans came up clean. Not being able to use iTunes presents a problem because I can't update my phone or make changes to my phone at all.
My girlfriend recently lent me her laptop (Windows 7 32bit) it was still using IE so when I go to install chrome the built in 'security program' (Windows 7 internet security 2011 or something like that) tells me that chrome is a threat and wont let me use it.. Now after finding out that Windows 7 internet security 2011 is a joke and just wants my money I run spybot search and destroy, it finds plenty of viruses and such like which are all removed. Now I have the strange problem...When I try to run any program or file the 'open this file with' window comes up. With some programs I can browse the program files and locate the program, select open with (I can't select 'always use the selected program') and away we go, but with others it simply doesn't open or will open the program in the background (unusable) and give me the 'open with' window again.. I have tried putting the Malwarebytes installer on USB but the laptop still gives me the 'open with' window when I try to install that
if i go to the start button to go to my computer the window will open on the first try , but say i try to go to my computer again it will just sit there and not open. the exployer window will open but not the contents inside.does not care how many times i try it will only open the window and show nothing inside , a bar will go across the top to show progress but still it will not open.if i restart the computer i can open up the my computer or just computer in W7.like right now i tried to open up the window to check my hard drive and im still waiting for it to open.this goes on on both of my computers running windows 7.all coms are updated to the fullest and im not overclocking or doing anything other normal stuff. So is there a bug or somthing that im missing , once again if i go to start , and hit computer the window will open on the first try , but if i do it to many times it will just open a window and just sit there.even further if i open it up and try to open a file it will just hang there and not open , there is no error warning or nothing.
Im having a problem with opening files I use to open with two programs. One is mkv, vob and divx files with homecinema. And snes roms with an emulator. Basically win 7 would let me select the program and it would show up on the list of programs to use. I would select always use and I'm done. But I moved the folders containing the files to a different folder and now my two programs I use will not show up in the open with list. I now have to go to the program itself and search for the files. Its a pain because I could click on the files and get right to them.
I'm Running Windows 7(64bit)Each time I boot into Windows 7 Prem (64) a open window apears requesting my username at the top of the open window to specify a a program to open it?I've clicked on note pad and I get the following information that apears, each time though it requests, or looks for a program to use to open.

i'm trying to install at bios and easy tune 6, but for some reason it comes up saying open driver failure, or open driver handle failure. what do i do?
"Open device failure/ open driver handle failure" message when installing gigabyte utilities. The install fails. Does anyone know what might be causing this message?
I tried to open a program using the open with option and it changed the icons for every program on my laptop. I changed the desktop (network, my computer etc) icons back to default but can't manage to change the others. If i go into properties for the program and change it that way it doesn't do anything.
I just got a new Samsung RC420 laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium edition OS. When I was installing a software last night, a message pops up and tells me I cannot continue installation until I close a certain program (in this case it was Adobe Updater, which was not opened at all).Today, I am trying to open "my briefcase" from a USB thumb, but a message pops up telling me I cannot open "my briefcase" as it appears a file in it is already open. But nothing else is open on my computer. It was my first time opening anything from the USB thumb.
Can't open any programs cuz this annoying window "Open with" pops up asking what application I want to open this file with? If I go browse and select the file (i.e. IE) then another window opens asking if I want to run, save or cancel. When I hit Run.... windows close and nothing happens. Pretty much dead in the water here. Tried recovery to an older config...
I just got a Sony Vaio VGN-Z51MRG/B its running Windows 7 Pro x64 so installed all the software I need including CCleaner, now I do a cmd such as "telnet 192.168.28.66 9100" it connects to my Canon iRC 2880i no problem I get the black in screen in cmd all good.
So now I do a CCleaner clean I did untick in oprions "Only delete files in Windows Temp folders older than 24 hours"
I did tick "ISS Log Files" and ticked all IE and FireFox cleaning options
Now I do a registry clean back up onto my desktop, restart PC try to telnet my printer it no longer connects this took me a second VAIO system restore to find out the problem is due to CCleaner cleaning I dont wont to do another system restore how can I fix this!...
I tried registry restore straight away just after I couldn't tracert the device it didnt help, I then tried windows system restore just one step back that didnt do the trick either... Im guessing CCleaner has removed something important just as it did the first time before I done the Sony System Restore to out of the box 1st time state.
I have another PC running Windows 7 Ultimate x86 I do use CCleaner on it although it does not loose the same printer in the same network I can tracert it and ping the device no problem
Windows 7 x64 support as stated above and WHQL certificates
here are all the drivers btw the second time I restored Windows I used the Canon C2880i built in drivers that come with Windows 7 I only need the Color Network Scan Gear Tool from the site so I use the scanner.
I was trying find information about compatibility drivers canon BJC 250 with windows 7 64 bits. I know that one printer is compatible with windows vista. Go to link:
Anyone knows what Canon is gonna do about the fact they don't have 64-bit drivers for this printer? Anyone some information on this?
I know there are no Vista (64-bit) drivers either. This is the only piece of hardware which is not functional with Windows 7 RC (64-bit).
This is a great printer, so I will stick to XP if no solution is given by Canon. But maybe someone has some official info from Canon regarding this issue .
Has anyone gotten the 64 bit version of Windows 7 to work with the Canon S9000 printer? There is a add-on driver for 64 bit, but it needs the "regular" driver to be loaded first and I cannot seem to get it to install - it dies at 60% every time.
I am having difficulty installing my canon ir1570 printer on my laptop with a windows 7 64 bit o.s. I have tried all drivers from canon and their website but none works. I have tried manual installation, but windows update does not update with this printer model.
