I have just bought a new acer aspier 5750z-4830 intel core b940 processor 4gb ddr3 memory 500 gb hdd 3 days ago and I am unable to install any new programs.I have tried to download meny sotwer not at the same time but the results are horrable.google chrome: 7 hours and never downloads. yahoo mesenger: connection is always lost and retrys never work. when i click cancle it says that it maybe my firewall but even when i allow the progrom through it won't work. so i turned if off for a little while still nothing. java: my laptop dose not come with java so i tried instlling it...121 hours to install this is rediclious.The download speed may not be so good right now beacuse we where hit by a storm 3 days ago however i have to ability to downlod but not the ability to install which i think is a bit weird

View 9 Replies View RelatedEvery time I start up normally into Win7 everything is fine for a couple of minutes. I'll open a few programs, then after a few minutes of them running they'll hang and enter the 'not responding' mode. (firefox, steam, IE). If I don't already have task manager running the system will basically be unresponsive and the only thing I can do is reboot manually. If I have task manager running I can sometimes end a process or two but some will remain open & unresponsive. Any programs that are working (including task manager) disappear when I minimize them and no programs appear on the task bar, (though they can be retrieved with alt+tab).
McAfee also has 'real time scanning' permanently disabled.
This is all very strange as there was nothing wrong four days ago when I was away, and the symptoms occured within 2-3 minutes of booting up this evening. The system runs in safe mode.
This fault is occur a after using Iobit Uninstaller. I closed this program before uninstrallation process of selected programs completed. After this only 5 programs are showing. I restore syatem by Iobit Uninstaller. but no any change.I checked registry (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionUninstall). There is only 5 keys. How do I recover these registry keys.

However, it does not appear as a default program when I am trying to use the "associate a file type or protocal with a specific program" even when I press the browse list. The program also does not appear when I "right click" the file itself and use the open command. The program also does not appear in the list of programs on the "All Progams: list when clicking the windows icon. I can't run google chrome, or world of warcraft, as well as any other programs I typically use throughout the day. Aside from google chrome, everything else runs in safe mode. System restore was unable to fix my problem. This just started happening today. I had problems with my internet so I reset my computer to power cycle my router and upon restarting the problem occured.I've run Avira, IObit 360, and Malewarebytes, all of which were unable to find any problems. I also managed to get one of my regedit programs to run and only came up with the typical fixes(shortcuts, etc). I can't run msinfo32, or the task manager by right clicking the bottom bar. Interestingly enough I can ctrl+alt+delete and get the task manager. All the programs I try and run, show up as tasks.

For example i have tried to run spybot, defogger, dds and everytime I hit Run, nothing happens and then I get a warning that says "Application cannot be executed. The file XXXXX.exe is infected. Please activate your antivirus software."
Also, every 20-30 minutes my computer automatically restarts. Before it restarts thought it goes to a blue screen. On this blue screen it says "The problem seems to be caused by the following file NTFS.SYS. It also says alot more but that is the one thing that stood out to me.
Well, All Programs seems to once again have gone blank. This has happened to me before but it was usually solved by either moving the Programs folder to the Desktop and back or setting it to Hidden but now it seems that neither of these solutions are working. Anyone got any ideas?

The sounds won't work in GP either.And then I noticed that Minecraft won't launch.So I did a virus scan. Nothing came up. I tried running the programs as an admin, different compatibility and with my virus protection off.I've tried reinstalling the programs too, but no dice.Then I decided to get a new anti-virus program. Once I downloaded it and double clicked the setup.exe, it threw an error. I'm not sure what it is in english, since it's in finnish, but it's something to the sorts of "path can't be found". View 9 Replies View RelatedIm having trouble with windows i donno what happened but i noticed that my steelseries engine wasnt working in the system tray and then i tried to run it but it didnt turn on nothing happens then i checked the task manager but it wasnt there either so it didnt run at all then i just tried to run game maker 8.1 it didnt run either so for i know 2 programs are not working. i believe the disk fan 4 screw it up after i deleted the duplicate programs and short cuts and i did a registry clean with it and i did ccleaner because i contacted steel series and their technician told me to but were still tryin to figure it out but i think its not a problem with the steel series cuz game maker is not working either and i bet some other wont either. so far i tried to uninstall and reinstalled clean the registry and tried to restore but the points are too recent to fix anything so i didnt do that i also made another account as administrator because i see this kind of problem and ppl made another accounts and it worked for them but it didnt work for me

I upgraded from vista to 7 last night and now every link there was to every program I had installed that was acessable from "all programs" is gone, it's just a big blank area. There were programs I used infrequently which i would access via this method. I know i can search out now where they are in program files & create a shortcut for the desktop but i prefer to keep it uncluttered as it was before.
Also vista, being the goofy program that it was, sometimes would do an install & the only way to access that program was via that "all programs" method. Take my norton360, it's there, somewhere, i know it is, it worked before and I see in the task manager "symantec user session" but 7 keeps telling me that no virus protection is installed. Whats up with that? I paid for a sub for that prog, i hope the answer isn't gonna be 'just dl a new free one off the web"
