Reinstall OS On Existing Partition?
Dec 24, 2012I just got a new MB/CPU and want to do a clean install of my OS. Currently I have two partitions on my HD, one for the OS and one for all my data. Can I just format the OS partition and do a clean install on that partition of the new OS? I just don't want to lose all my data files. I have most backed up, but would take the entire day to backup the rest probably.

Jan 24, 2012i had to reinstall my windows 7 64x dell inspiron 1750 laptop using my windws 7 home premium disc that came with my laptop when i bought it because it was in a constant starup repair loop. the disc worked find until i got to the part where it said "expanding windows files." it was stuck at 0% after a whilr and then a message popped up that said error code:0x8007045D. during the time when it was expanding windows files i could hear my disc running, but after a while it stops.when i tried running the disc again, the error code message didn't pop up, but the expanding windows files was stuck at 0% forever. when i tried turning on my computer without using the disc, it goes directly from the "finding window files" screen to startup repair. it tells me that it can't fix the problem and i click on a link that tells me that the problem is that my boot configuration is corrupt. i have also ried cleaning my disc and it doesn't look like there's any stratches on it.

I have a valid, working copy of Windows 7 build 7000x32 on disk. The same disk has been used on other computers and works fine. However on my machine, it begins the installation just fine, until it reaches the blue Windows 7 background screen. Then it stops. No error, it just stops working.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? I find it extremely frustrating.

Dec 27, 2009I have a desktop running on XP and just purchased a new laptop on the Windows 7 platform.. I get a wireless connection to my router and have internet access. Everything is fine, except that when I tried to install my printer which is Lexmark x1185, it installs, but when I try to access it on the laptop, I get the 0x0000000d error message. My printer is in the office and prints fine if I use my desktop which is running XP but cannot get the thing to connect with my laptop which is running Windows 7.

I bought another HDD and decide to add a second drive with windows XP.I ended up with a system which had windows 7 shown twice on boot up and only one would bring up windows 7. Windows XP was missing. I removed the second drive and it worked fine but I still had 2 Win 7 prompts on boot up.I have a virus or root kit which I can't find or remove so I decided to format the C partition and reload windows 7. The problem is although I have the bios set to boot from the cd with the Win 7 disk, it comes up with the boot manager missing message and I can't get around this.I tried another HDD and get the same message. Have booted from Windows 7 installation disc, tried startup recovery - took 2 hours before reporting no automatic fix possible. It cannot find an installed Windows OS to do a system restore, so I attempted a "custom" clean re-install. However, I then get a "canot create system partition or find existing one" error message.
