i cant get pop up games to load since the new window update on the 14th window pop up but then its just shows done its just a white screen now im getting all kinds of screen errors
View 2 Repliesi have been playing Open Beta-free-to-play, browser-based games with no problems until the other night i turned off the computer and it down loaded windows updates .Now no beta games will load and run on my laptop they just freeze the browser and all tabs open i have to shut them down using the small box at the bottom.it must be something to do with the downloads as i have another computer that they will load on but this is too old and slow to run them on.

Publisher details and other notes were package version 1 and 1.5 not sure what that is. i noticed my computer needed a restart after downloading a windows 7 update. I restarted it and now its in a continuous bsod to startup repair. everytime i get this:

I have tried chkdsk c: /f /r and no luck. Tried updating bios. I have tried a system restore but it doesnt work. i cant boot into safemode either.
I am running windows 7 home edition. A couple months ago I got the bad image date virus that disable my google chrome and my epson workforce printer, I had found it disable my print spooler, I got rid the the virus, but it did more damage, I uninstalled the printer drivers and went through the windows services and set them all to automatic, but I cannot reinstall the driver.
Then I saw my graphics and sound drivers are out dated but I cannot update them either, it just times out when I try to update them. I noticed when I try to update other programs, they hang up on the system restore point, so I tried to create a new one. I get the shadow volume cannot be created message, I set the shadow volume services to automatic, and went through all the dependency's but I still can't create a restore point, I am guessing the problems are related
I purchased a system with dual GTX580's about a year and a half ago. I have had issues with system crashes (lockups, no blue screen, and no alt-tabbing out of them) almost from the beginning. Since I am impressed with some of the technical responses I have seen on threads in this forum, thought I'd reach out for help before I pull what hair I have left out.....
I tried literally every different bios update available, every single driver release Nvidia has released, too many clean windows installs to count, MSI Afterburner/EVGA Precision (video voltage increases, clock decreases (removing EVGA superclocking), replaced the SLI bridge, different ram, different powersupply cables, different fan speeds, and so many other things over the past 1.5 years it's rediculous.
In preparation for trashing the cards, I pulled them out and put my old cards back in. These are also EVGA brand, 8800's, also can run them in SLI with the same bridge, and not a single problem. This is while running the same driver release (clean install though) as the 580's.
So I put one 580 back in, both slots 1 & 3, and to my surprise it worked just fine in either PCI slot. Tried the other 580, also works fine when alone. Put them both in, put the bridge on, and it crashes right after Bios loads, before it even makes it to the windows logo/login screen.
Seems to have gotten worse over time (was just during intense gaming, next it's when in windows but not gaiming, sometimes at the Windows loading Logo, and sometimes even at bios load.)
Overheating? Temps are fine..even when stress testing with Kombuster/Furmark/Prime95/MEMTest/etc. temps get warm, up to 85 on CPU cores, and 75 on video card, but all tests are fine.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter installing W7 SP1 x64 through automatic updates, none of my games (CS: GO in Steam, Heroes of Newerth) will load. The first time I encountered this problem, I decided to format my SSD but the same issue again after installing SP1. Thinking it might be a video driver issue I've tried installing an older driver but the same thing happens. I decided to uninstall SP1 and all my games are working again.
I never had this issue when running on a HDD. I just installed a new SSD a couple of days ago, doing a clean install of OS.

Ran Windows Update on wife's computer today (Biostar A75-MH mobo, AMD A8-3850, 8Gb DDR3-1600, 64Gb Samsung 830 SSD boot drive, Win7 x64) and upon restart it froze at 35% installing the updates. After it did nothing for 30 min I rebooted. It boots to the desktop but with an error box saying failed to load sortbls.nlp. Explorer isn't working, can run any programs, Start menu won't come up, just sits with the blue circle spinning. Tried to run system restore but the 11-15 one disappeared from the list when I tried to run it and now just shows the only restore point as Windows Update Critical Update from today which fails. Startup Repair says no problems.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI updated to the latest Windows 7 service pack this morning, upon restarting I can log in however nothing loads up. My screen is black, I am able to move the cursor. When pressing CTRL + ALT + DELETE a error message comes up stating:
"Failure to display security and shut down options. The logon process was unable to display security and logon options when CTRL+ALT+DELETE was pressed. If the operating system does not respond, press ESC or restart the computer by using the power switch."
I am able to boot in to safe mode, I have attempted a system restore to the time before updating this morning. However this stays at initializing for at the moment around 3 hours. I have no idea now what to do, I purchased this laptop in November 2011 which came preloaded with Windows 7 Home Premium Edition 64 bit.
I have windows 7. cannot load card games but can play pop-pit.

I got a new graphics card in today and put in my computer to crossfire. After I booted my computer back up it loaded fine, albeit slow, but crashed while installing new drivers for the card. Since then I haven't been able to get back on to that SSD(boot drive).
I can't access the advanced boot options to roll back the drivers that were installed as soon as the SSD was booted up.
looking in my bios for a shortcut, pressing f8 twice per second, holding f8 down, pressing f8 as soon as the bios screen goes away in between the system attempting to load. I just can't get to the advanced boot menu!
I have had itunes with an Wiondows XP 32 bit pc for many years. I now have a new pc with Window 7 64bit, i7-2600, 16 G RAM, and 1T of memory. My problem is I can not load itunes 10.6.3 into the pc. When I try, the program says it was interupted and the change did not take place. It then asks me to press finish or cancel. When I press finish, the program says thank you and gives me the4 option to store the program in G. I no longer have a G as that has been replaced by H. There is no opportunity to change the save location to H. and simply says to load the external disk, which does not exist.When I try to uninstal the itunes programs by strting with itunes first, the pc says that ituneshelper. Resources is not a valid short name.

Two games, Saints Row the Third and Civilizations V I run using Direct X 9 mode, which helps me keep my laptop temperature down.Recently, however, I have bought and downloaded a few games via Steam that are older, that only use Direct X 9.0c. When I run any of these games for the first time, Steam will start "installing Direct X...". After that, all of my games run with very noticeable lag. I will lose FPS (going from 70+ to about 20-) every 20 seconds or so. If I perform a system restore to the moment before Steam installed the Direct X, everything starts running fine again.This has rendered half of my games on Steam unplayable because they all need to install Direct X before playing. View 9 Replies View Relatedquite recently, i noticed that there were little black box flickering in my games. gpu is an ati 4870 hd 512 mb. i did not overclock this gpu. first, it came when i got myself shogun 2 total war, and then in all my other games that i played after that. it flickers on for a split second and off and keeps coming back. i did notice though that when i alt-tabbed for a few seconds, and then came back, it took a little while before they came back.also, this has nothing to do with heating because the max temp that my gpu will ever hit is 50c and on idle it's 38c with a accelero heatsink.i thought this had something to do with the latest 11.6 update i installed, so i uninstalled and driver-sweeped my ati driver and installed 11.5, but no luck!
along with that, i noticed that on Internet, when i went into full screen mode, the screen would be black but playing but then flash on and continue the video from where it flashed on. also, when i got out of the Internet full screen, the video would be playing but the image on the video would be what i saw before i went into full screen for a few seconds.i tried reinstalling flash in chrome, but to no avail.
I recently brought a new hard drive to upgrade my computer from xp to 7. sadly most of my games won't play on 7. Is there a way of getting round this or are all my old games defunct

First it started off with my laptop crashing, I had totally forgot it needed to do a windows update and turned off my laptop in hopes that it would work properly. After that my laptop has not been working. The machine turns on and gives me two options. Start windows normally or do a repair. Upon starting windows normally, it loads so far before sending me back to the two options of start windows normally or repair. On the second time I clicked repair. My laptop then goes so far before presenting me with a blue screen that is usually the screen where my accounts are. The cursor still moves but it loads no further even after leaving it an hour. I decided to make a repair disk, hoping that the problem was because of windows. the disk loads, gives me a choice on the keyboard language then does nothing. I honestly have no idea what to do, I want to keep all the files safe on my computer as I havent backed them up and I have worked so hard on the projects.

I'm running Symantec (even tried turning the firewall off without any success). I get an error code 80072F7C. When I run hijackthis, I get an error message that my system denied write access to the Hosts file. I proceed with the scan but am unable to produce a log file. I've included a screenshot from the windows update error as well as the error I get when trying to run hijack this.

After installing it, whenever my laptop tries to use the Nvidia card, I get a blue screen and the system restarts. I looked in installed updates to uninstall it, and it is not there. I did a system restore to four days before I installed it, and I still get the same effect. Lastly, I installed some older nvidia drivers that used to work using the clean install option, and I still have this problem.
A while back, after successfully downloading and installing some updates in the Windows Update, it prompted me to restart the computer to finish the update installation process. However, I continued to use the computer for quite some time before restarting it, and then when it tried to configure the updates on the start-up screen, it showed that it was not successful in doing so. In the past, I noticed that this would typically happen when I did not restart the computer immediately (or within a short time) after the updates finished and I got the prompt to restart. I would have to go to Windows Update and do it over again, and then upon immediate restart, it would always work properly. But this time, it did not, and I keep getting the 8000FFFF error message instead.
Also, now, every time I start the computer, it shows that it's "Preparing to configure Windows... Do not shut off computer" (presumably the updates that never got completely and correctly configured) in the start-up screen... gets to 35%..fails... shuts down (screen goes black)... restarts again... tries to configure again, fails again, shuts down and restarts again... tries to configure again, fails again, and finally it apparently gives up and says "reverting changes" and finally goes to the desktop.I've looked at the answers in several threads at the answers.microsoft.com forum that were started by people with similar problems, and also tried several of the Microsoft "FixIt" files on the Microsoft site, but none of them worked. I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium.

When introduced a CD Rom into the drive, it has all the autostart functions for movies, pics, documents, but instead of starting the games directly, It allways ask me to open the file, movies or pics, but the game never starts automatically as It used to do in the past Windows versions, and in Windows 7 BEFORE SP1. It's imposible to play games that require the insertion of the disc into the CD Rom Drive, for the same reason.Im running Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and have a LG Super Multi RwDVD +R DL Light scribe multirecorder.
View 1 Replies View Relatedok so i have a problem thats been driving me insane. my toshiba F50 was working totally fine until suddenly during games my GPU started overheating quickly during games (Was not doing this before) i noticed that my fan didnt seem to be spinning as fast as before. i cleaned it still no avail, tried riva tuner and ntune and all of that jazz and all of them have the fan control options greyed out? (cannot use them)i noticed that when i start the laptop the POST test on the fans guns the fan to 100% speed so i know its capable of doing it. it seems like the fan doesnt know to speed up when it gets hot and it keeps shutting my system down and i reallllly dont feel like damaging my GPU. i tried rolling back my drivers and running the latest drivers.
