View 5 Replies View RelatedI just formatted my entire laptop (Samsung RV511) due to a bug that was in the system my antivirus could not detect or the help of system restore would not get rid of either. My previous 2 laptops came with recovery discs but the samsung had only come with the windows 7. I had installed Windows 7 and after doing so, checked everything out. I realized that Samsung has many specific programs and drivers that come with their computers and in the process of formatting, I had deleted everything. My computer is unable to connect to the Internet and I can't even change the brightness of the screen anymore.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI am currently running Windows 7 RC1 and have noticed a behavioral change from XP which I would love to change.
In the NVIDIA control panel, there are 2 sets of settings for brightness:
1) Desktop color settings
2) Video color settings
In Windows XP, these would be completely independent. Thus for example, I could have my desktop dark while the videos could be bright and vivid.
Thus in XP:
Desktop Brightness = Desktop color settings
Video Brightness = Video color settings
In Windows 7, the OS only behaves this way when using Aero Basic. If I'm using the full Aero interface, I get the following behavior:
Desktop Brightness = Desktop color settings
Video Brightness = Desktop color settings + Video color settings
I would really love to have these control act independently on the full Aero interface. Is this possible? NVIDIA settings can obviously still distinguish the video because the video color settings still only apply to video, so I'm not sure why it behaves this way.
So I noticed that every time Windows 7 loads and I'm using my battery then plug into my AC adapter the brightness won't get brighter, I have to manually go into power options and drag the little indicator bar. I want it when on the AC adapter to have a full bright screen and when on the battery 50%. Well Windows 7 doesn't want to seem to remember that because after every boot both the battery and ac adapter will have brightness settings at 50%.
This is a Windows 7 problem and I was wondering if anyone has a solution.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have observed a significant change in my Windows 7 computer. This is not a hardware issue. I have not downloaded any files or programs lately which could have caused this difficulty. I have run NIS program, anti-spyware. and malware-bytes, to no avail. I cannot seem to run backup using Ease Us Todo Backup; program fails to function. It worked before. Windows Backup fails to give any indication that it is actually working.
It takes longer to start up. I have run "Start Up Repair" to no avail. It also takes longer to shut down (no updates are in progress). Certain programs such as the one to enable process of my digital camera photos, fail to work. There was no such problem in the past. When I attempt to use this program, a screen from uTorrent appears, even after I have removed uTorrent, and re-downloaded the camera software. I have tried "System Restore" to no avail.
Contrary to the instructions, I cannot choose my own 'restore point', but only from a list created by Windows. The standard Windows 7 repair programs have failed me. I have nowhere else to turn. I have considered a registry cleaner, but the advice on this program is mixed; half of the people say it worked for them, the other half say never screw with my registry. If I cannot even backup my files, I am screwed.

We apologize for the inconvenience, but windows did not start successfully. A recent hardware or software change might have caused this.
Followed by some more text, and then it asks how I would like to start windows up, in safe mode(s), last known good configuration, or start windows normally.
So I just select �Start Windows Normally� and it started to boot up, with the Microsoft Windows 7 loading screen. Then KABLAM! The black screen with the different options popped up AGAIN. I then tried every single other boot option, all the safe modes, everything, and every time it would show that black screen with the different boot options(that don't work). So I hit F8 and tried all the options in there, reboot, debugging mode, all of them, they all did the same thing and brought back to that dreaded black screen. I tried everything...except for the obvious destructive restart.I know I will probably have to do a complete restart of my computer, but before I do that, how can I backup data from a non-functioning laptop? Right before this happened, I was going to backup my data, but this happened. I know I need to do a backup all the time, but I was being dumb. I deserve this.

View 1 Replies View RelatedEverytime I switch on my Acer 5740 Laptop, after it reaches the POST screen displaying the Acer logo and Setup (F2) and Boot Selection Menu (F12) the laptop restarts over and over again and never stops. It has only been doing this since i installed a new program, after i installed it a blue screen appeared saying "STOP", and a bunch of other text but I couldnt make out what it said as the screen disappeared so fast. It is probably the work of a virus of some sort.I have already tried to boot from my recovery discs, but after the restoring the OS to factory settings, the same restart loop happens again. I cannot even access safe mode as it immediately restarts after displaying the acer logo. But I am however able to access the BIOS setup (f2) and the boot selection menu (f12). I know for certain that I have no hardware problems as the system was working perfectly with no errors up until I ran the program and feel that this may be the work of a virus.Here are the details of my Acer Aspire 5740 laptop that I have acquired via the Setup menu:
