Acer laptop wont boot...not even in safe mode..startup repair has been running for 5 hours now ....i have all my files backed up on an external hard drive..should i just switch off and then use recovery discs ???
Boot normally -- it hangs on "Starting Windows" animation forever. Boot safe mode -- it bluescreens.
Boot with a recovery CD (or try Repair Installation directly without a CD) -- it hangs on the green loading bar forever.
I dual-boot Ubuntu and can get into the Ubuntu partition fine so I don't think anything is necessarily wrong with the harddrive, but the Ubuntu partition is tiny and I rarely use it and can't access my Windows files anyway.
Is there anything I can try that'll help repair whatever happened? I just want to run a checkdisk utility or something similar that'll repair whatever got botched.
My laptop: Newegg.com - Acer Aspire AS7740G-6816 Notebook Intel Core i5 480M(2.66GHz) 17.3" 4GB Memory DDR3 1066 500GB HDD 5400rpm DVD Super Multi ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470
i have just bought an Acer Aspire laptop with Vista and i would like to install Windows 7 ultimate 64 bit, i put the dvd in drive and tried hitting f11 and f10 but it just carries on going to vista, does anyone know how i can boot from dvd please?
my daughters acer laptop has the following message: windows failed to start. a recent hardware or software change might be the cause.. etc.. insert windows installation disc and restart. we do not have the installation disc.
file: windowssystem32winload.exe
status: OxcOOOOOOf
info: the selected entry could not be loaded because the application is missing or corrupt.
My acer says that there may have been a harware or software removed...When I turn it on it goes to Acer screen, then to the page that says Lauche start up repair, or start normally....either on you hit, it does the same thing, it goes back to that screen, or stays on a black screen This started when it was knocked off an end table.
It turned on like it usually does with the ACER logo on the screen, but it goes to a black screen came that said:
We apologize for the inconvenience, but windows did not start successfully. A recent hardware or software change might have caused this.
Followed by some more text, and then it asks how I would like to start windows up, in safe mode(s), last known good configuration, or start windows normally.
So I just select Start Windows Normally and it started to boot up, with the Microsoft Windows 7 loading screen. Then KABLAM! The black screen with the different options popped up AGAIN. I then tried every single other boot option, all the safe modes, everything, and every time it would show that black screen with the different boot options(that don't work). So I hit F8 and tried all the options in there, reboot, debugging mode, all of them, they all did the same thing and brought back to that dreaded black screen. I tried everything...except for the obvious destructive restart.I know I will probably have to do a complete restart of my computer, but before I do that, how can I backup data from a non-functioning laptop? Right before this happened, I was going to backup my data, but this happened. I know I need to do a backup all the time, but I was being dumb. I deserve this.
I just bought a new ACER laptop, Win 7, around 2 weeks ago. I have only downloaded Minecraft and Microsoft Office on it..... Today I turned on my laptop and it showed the ACER logo, and froze with the loading bar 3/4s full. So I rebooted because I couldnt think of anything better to do.... and same thing, except it froze again, at 1/2 loading bar. So, getting frustrated, I rebooted a 3rd time, and pressed F2 for setup. Once again. Frozen. In resisting the temptation of picking up the laptop and tossing it at the nearest wall, I put in a freshly, properly burnt, Ubuntu LiveCD in. And it didn't even run that.
i have a practically brand new ACER ASPIRE 4553 (1 month old, max) and I was experiencing some reboot failures and also having problems turning the computer on, how's that? Well, for example when rebooting the computer it did not turn back on (kept a black screen, no sounds, in other words wasn't booting). So I manually turned it off by holding down the power button and then back on, sometimes it took a couple of tries to make it work but usually that did the job.
The same logic goes for powering it on form the start.. Now, at this moment the computer won't boot up at any means, not that I know of.I noticed that the HDD light isn't blinking at all, So I though that maybe for some reason the computer could not access the HDD, the other LED indicators (< is that correct?!) aren't blinking either, actually they blink just one time when I hit the power button and then stop. The power button stays on.So I did some research and found that it could be a BIOS problem, the solution I found is for the Acer Aspire One notebook, therefore I couldn't figure out a way to make that work on the 4553, didn't even try 'cause I know how risky messing with the BIOS is.
i am having a problem with my acer aspire 6930 i think my hdd crashed recently, here is what happened i pressed power and the machine would not load to windows and with further check the hdd was not coming u in the bios so i replaced the hdd with a seagate 500gb sata, now this hdd is read just fine in the bios, i do to boot from cd and try installing windows 7, at first it looked like all was well until it passed over an hour and the install was nowhere near finished anyway this took 3+ hours and when it is rebooting to complete the installation, after it boots pass the bios it goes to a blank screen with a blinking line at the upper left of the screen, 5 mins after the line stops blinking 10 mins later it says starting windows 5-10 mins later the animated windows icon comes then that takes anther 20 mins to boot to the home screen, now i know this is not normal but cannot get any advise about it and i am forced to believe the motherboard may be faulty but i need advise in case i am missing something
i am trying to get a laptop that won't boot into erecovery (using alt+F10 it gets to it and then just says 'please wait a moment' and it sticks at this point. THe laptop is an acer extensa 5235 and i do not have any recovery discs - it wont start in safe mode or anthing..
I am trying to restore my sons laptop to the factory settings w/o cd and all that happens is a continous loop of restarting with an error message that says that windows 7 cannot continue. I have tried holding down the alt key while pressing f10 and still the continous loop occurs.
Everytime I switch on my Acer 5740 Laptop, after it reaches the POST screen displaying the Acer logo and Setup (F2) and Boot Selection Menu (F12) the laptop restarts over and over again and never stops. It has only been doing this since i installed a new program, after i installed it a blue screen appeared saying "STOP", and a bunch of other text but I couldnt make out what it said as the screen disappeared so fast. It is probably the work of a virus of some sort.I have already tried to boot from my recovery discs, but after the restoring the OS to factory settings, the same restart loop happens again. I cannot even access safe mode as it immediately restarts after displaying the acer logo. But I am however able to access the BIOS setup (f2) and the boot selection menu (f12). I know for certain that I have no hardware problems as the system was working perfectly with no errors up until I ran the program and feel that this may be the work of a virus. Here are the details of my Acer Aspire 5740 laptop that I have acquired via the Setup menu:
CPU Type: Intel (R) Core(TM) i5 CPU M 430 @ 2.27GHz CPU Speed: 2260 Mhz IDE0 Model Name : WDC WD6400BEVT-22AORTO-(S1) IDE0 Serial Number: WD-WXF0AB957752 ATAPI Model Name: Slimtype BD E DS4E1S
Not sure if this is where I should post this or not. A friend brought me their Acer Aspire one, I have tried to get it to boot, but it takes forever, then it gives a hi-low-hi-low beep that sounds like the European sirens. I put Windows 7 on a usb drive and set it to boot from the usb, but it still won't boot. It once came up with a option to repair the Windows 7, but it sat there for 10 minutes doing nothing, then started with the beeps again.
yesterday when activated my scotiabank online, i opted for phishing control software and all of sudden my os windows 7 sht down saying a problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. Check for virusus or recent hard disk or softtware change. check your hard drive and and make sure it properly configure and terminate.Again says run CHKDSK/F for harddrive corruption then restart your computer.i tried for windows recovery options..did not work....gone for safe mode and all options tried did not work.when starts safe mode or anything on that..all of sudden blue window appears with above message...i dont have acer CD..or windows CD..
Yesterday when I turned on my laptop windows wouldn't start and launched its error recovery. When I launched the startup recovery it gave me a black screen for 5 minutes, then an Acer desktop screen with nothing on it. The loading light will stay lit up for 5 minutes and turn off without the computer doing anything at all and stay at that screen for hours on end.
I have just come across a serious issue with my 4 year old Acer Aspire 5536 (I know its old but i like it and it still performs). Anyway when pressing the power button the fan speeds up the lights come on but the computer will not start. To get my computer to start I need to power on the computer and cover the fan vent for about 10 mins and restart and after i have done that it will run perfectly.
