Sep 23, 2011Is there a way that i can prevent the computer from turning off the screen while switching user? My screen reacts really slow when it gets turned off, then on again by the computer, so its just turns black for ages.

The motherboard I use is a Asus P6T se, I've been searching trough the forum but nothing came out.. maybe I oversaw it but I'm not sure 'bout that.
So when I shutdown all usbdevice basically stay on or are still getting power.. I want it to turn off too. First reactions will give me go check the BIOS. I browsed it several times already.

Sep 8, 2012Basically my problem is at random times, my headset will just stop working and it will switch back to my laptop, as if my headphones are not even plugged in. It happens multiple times a day, seemingly at random (lately its been this way, but I have had it go longer than a day without doing this to me). As I am browsing the internet, as I am turning on a game, when I am away and the computer is just sitting there.
I've tried checking my device manager for differences when it is working and when it is not, I've tried updating all software, I've tried setting default devices. None of it has helped.
The only thing that fixes this is logging off, or restarting the computer. This then returns it to normal. My laptop is an HP Pavilion dv6 windows 7 home premium x64. Headphones in question are Razor Carcharias.
Switching Drivers When Switching Users?
Oct 11, 2011get windows 7 to switch audio drivers when you switch to another user account.
For eg.. normal speakers device for my personal account and then have my multichannel device (profire 2626) set as default for my other user account 4 studio work.
Atm, if i change it on one account it changes on the other account which is annoying and i'd just like to set default device for each account so i don't have to do this.

Windows seems to be shutting down, and then the screen goes black but the laptop is still running. Restart does not work unless i've installed something that requires a restart. It will not restart if i choose the option from the shutdown menu. I've tried to update all my drivers and i also updated the BIOS, with no luck. I purchased it in January 2009 and installed windows XP on it, which I had no problems with. I recently installed Windows 7 on it, and it will not power down or go into hibernate mode without being on external power. When I tell it to hibernate or shut down it will power the screen down, but thats as far as it will go without being plugged in. All of the lights stay on (volume control buttons, wifi indicator, etc.), the hard drive continues to run, and it will stay like this until I plug it in, at which point it will finish its power-down or hibernation.

May 2, 2012I was installing SP1 on a recently purchased laptop (Acer Aspire 5742) running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. Installation was done via Windows Update and was reported successful. On subsequent required reboot, however, the system just hang, at shutdown screen. Some half a day has passed already and I wonder what now, whether I should go for a hard reset and force turning it off, and what would be the proper way to do that, in hope to cause the least damage, both to Windows and the SP install and even the hardware eventually?... I've tried already hitting the power button, even for some more than a couple seconds, but it didn't go off and I admit I became afraid of persisting on that... I've also already read about having to hold the power button for actually some 60 seconds..

I have tested the RAM which had no problems, I reinstalled Windows completely which didn't help & I checked power settings in BIOS to disable auto-restart. Feb 16, 2012New laptop, it was shut down or closed during the update and now is frozen on the 7 of 8 screen and just hangs there. I cannot reboot and it did not come with a recovery disk. I can't get it to come off this screen at all. I tried shutting it off but an orange light flashes and when I turn it back on it's still on that screen. Since I have no recovery cd or repair CD what do I need to do? If I have to restore I really could care less as I don't have too much on it because it's new. Maybe some photos but whatever.

Jun 20, 2012I recently bought an Asus N55SL laptop. It came pre-installed with Win 7 Home Premium on a 750GB drive.I bought a 120GB SSD, and would like to replace the HDD with it. The HDD came with a recovery partition on it, When I started the laptop for the first time, I made Asus recovery disks that can be used to restore the laptop to factory conditions. However, when i try to use those to recover to the SSD, it appears to work, but when it's "setting up windows for first time use" it goes into a rebooting loop. I'm assuming that the disk image made by the recovery program on the 750gb HDD can't be applied to the 120gb SSD. I've read that SSds work better with fresh installs of Windows anyway.So, how can I install windows on my SSD using the Win 7 product key that came with my laptop? I tried installing another copy of Win7 Home Premium that I had, but the license key wouldn't work for it. I called Asus support but they didn't give me any useful info.

Nov 1, 2009I just tried to install Windows 7 on an asus laptop.
It all goes smoothly until it reboots after i have connected to my wireless.
It all seems to work great. It loads like a normal boot, then i get a screen with the error: Can not open file: c:RECOVERY.DAT
ERROR
The error word is written on big red letters.
Have anyone got anything to suggest here?
I can press any button and nothing happens.
I cant even start in safe mode.
I get the same error.
