View 1 RepliesI have two drives on my laptop: C, 60gb and D, 400gb. C is completely full and D is virtually empty. I understand that the recycle bin resides on C but Windows does not allow me to empty it (the command is 'greyed' out, i.e. disabled). I have studied many such complaints on your site and elsewhere but my experience does not seem to align with that of others and the 'cures' do not work. I have several hundred photos stored, presumably on C, so I don't understand why they are not stored on D where there is plenty of room. This problem came to light when I tried to download Windows 7 Service Pack 1. I have performed a Disk Cleanup, and also a Run System File Checker (SFC) scan which produced the response 'Windows resource protection did not find any integrity violations', which unfortunately means nothing to me.

My main drive is a 640GB drive, and I have a 500GB drive that I can use as my backup drive.
Now, because my main drive is bigger than my backup, does that mean I can't do a full backup to the 500gb disk?
I won't use near 500GB of the 640GB on the main drive, so will it allow me to do a full systme image backup as long as my main drive used size is less than the size of my backup drive?
I installed a 60 gig SSD realizing it is too small after windows says there is only 55 gigs on the SSD instead of 60 ? After doing some reading, this is considered normal ?

I wam looking at getting a SSD that at most will have 124GB of storrage space. I tried ghosting one hard drive to a smaller faster hard drive on my laptop so I know that it won't work but I have heard some people talking that their is a way to make the computer think that all the free space on the hard drive is gone and the hard drive is only as big as how much space is actually taken up.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've recently decided that I like the Windows Taskbar a lot better if it's on the left-hand side, rather than the bottom (and auto-hidden, but that's beside the point). For some reason, the smallest width I can drag it to is wide enough for tray icons to sit two to a row. I've seen taskbars smaller than that on the side, though, so I'm not sure what the problem is. I've made sure to select "Use small icons" in the settings, too, to no avail.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just purchased a new HP Pavillion with a 1.5 Tb drive. I want to shrink the C:drive down to about 100Gb, and create other drive letters, with roughly 500Gb, 500Gb and 400Gb.I went into Disk Management and began the process by attempting to shrink the C: drive, but the smallest it would let me shrink it was 651Gb. I got a message saying that unmovable system files prevented it from shrinking any more.I tried defragging, but that didn't get me any more shrink. Then I tried disabling the paging file and defragging again, but that didn't gain me any more shrink.CallThey said this was outside the scope of their warranty.

The files that are selected to be backed up are 30-40 GB, and the size of the backup shows it is only 3.7 GB. Why is this. It says its 3.7 both in the control panel for windows backup, and when looking at properties on the backup folder.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a duplicate image of my windows 7 system. I want to move my windows 7 system off from my 2TB drive on to a smaller 500GB drive instead. I used an imaging program to duplicate the drive contents onto the 500GB drive. My question now is, is it safe to switch to my 500GB as my primary drive and boot up from it without affecting my Windows 7 activation status, or do I need to de-activate it first on the 2TB drive then re-activate on the 500GB drive?
View 11 Replies View RelatedI have Windows 7 os and an Epson Stylus SX415.I can print perfectly in A4, but when I try to print a page smaller than A4 ie: A5, A6 and labels, the printed area does not fit the paper properly - it is too big.And 'shrink to fit' does not work to make it fit the page. I have tried running MS troubleshooter, updating the latest drivers, uninstalling and reinstalling software and driver.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI experience a serious reoccurring issue with Windows 7 window management. It happens 1 in 5 times when logging in after locking the screen (or putting the machine to standby).
Windows are restricted to a part of the whole desktop. Please note that the explorer window in the attached picture is maximized, but not occupying the whole desktop as expected! (In fact I can move windows to the right side, but not maximize to it. Also when moving windows there, it snaps *not* to the edge of the screen but to to the same wrong line where the edge of the maximized window is.)
What is this? What causes this? How can I disable this? Only restart helps by now..
Streaming television from my home country, I can choose the stream quality from 300 kbps to 8 Mbps:
If I choose 1 or 2 Mbps, the stream is opened in a flash player. Since yesterday I've had this strange issue. The full screen display is shown smaller than usual, because a big part of the picture is used by a message telling I should download Flash Player to see the stream.
But I have Flash Player installed and I can see the stream! This issue is not browser dependant, it's the same when using Chrome, FF or IE to access the site.
A call to the this TV-stream service providers help desk resulted the following email: "The system is not yet tested on Windows 7". I've been using this service a couple of years now, on Seven since January but this issue only started yesterday.
How do I get my full screen back, without this annoying message?
Can anyone tell how or if its possible to change the system font to a smaller size than is available at: Control panel / Appearance and Personalization / display..I got a big new monitor where Windows 7 windows now display with a larger font than I need for visibility.I've set the radio button for small and even under Custom DPI setting. It will not let me set anything under 100%.It now shows: 9 point Segoe UI at 96 pixels per inch.I'd probably like 8 point or even 7 point. So, is there anyway to make the fonts smaller beyond those settings

We are using some Lenovo Q180's as media players for digital signage. For the most part they have all been working fine except for 2. Randomly, the signage presentation will re-size itself and move into the upper left corner. This happens randomly and not at the same times each day. They are hooked up to a LED tv via HDMI. I have tried switching the HDMI cables, ensuring all drivers are current and tried most all the basic troubleshooting. A simple re-start will get everything back looking and running fine. Again, this is a digital signage application so we cannot tell if this has occurred until the client calls to let us know which is not good for us.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIn this tutorial, we'll take a look at the Recycle Bin folder. The Recycle Bin is where files and folders are sent when you remove them. It acts like a safety net against deleting data by accident. In the video we'll show you how to recover files from the Recycle Bin, empty the bin and also change its size. You will also see a few exceptions where files are not sent to the Recycle Bin and are deleted immediately instead.
View 0 Replies View RelatedI have a Windows 7 running system and recently I am having some annoying problems with it. First of all, it takes extremely long time to start-up and shut down. After it finally loads, when I try to access one of my drives Windows Explorer freezes. It also can't identify some of the file types, and I can't run some of the applications like Disk Cleanup. I even can't open Recycle Bin. All in all it's completely messed up. I've checked it for viruses with ESET and it couldn't find any.
