I have two Windows 7 machines which both flawlessly access my Home Server 2011 via Remote Desktop.When I attempt to access the Hone Server via Live Live Mesh "Connect to this Computer" I receive a log in screen request for a Ctrl-Alt-Del. Clicking the Remote Desktop Window link to issue the request has no affect. No other action is available except to disconnect from the server.

Just wanted some advice on remote connecting to my machines on my LAN. I have a desktop running Win 7 Home, a laptop running Win 7 Pro and my media machine running Win 7 Home. I would really like to access my media machine running Win 7 Home remotely on my LAN from my desktop machine also running Win 7 Home and i wanted to use RDP as it seems straight forward for what i need. I understand that it does not work when trying to remote access from a Home Premium machine to another one which is a real pain! I was wondering as i have full access with RDP on my Laptop running Win 7 Pro could i perhaps copy all the RDP files from the Pro version to my Home Premium version to allow full access to RDP on both my Home Premium machines?
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy wife has a home based photography business. Her studio is located on our property. Currently her network consists of her PC, a Motorola DSL Modem/Router from ATT and an external USB HD.
She would like to be able to access her photos that are at her studio from home, say on a laptop but I am unsure the best method for this. She needs to be able to access these images in such a way that she can post-process them in program such as Photoshop at home, and then save the image so that it updates that file in her studio when shes completed the post editing. So, basically it's like being able to edit images in 2 places while keeping the original files and the saved processed images in one central location.
I don't know if this means NAS, something in the cloud, or simply remote accessing the PC through Windows. Or perhaps some other method that I don't know about.
I consider myself to be decently informed when it comes to computer stuff but I want to get this right the first time around so I figured it best to gain insight from those who are more skilled than I before moving forward.
I am trying to configure Remote Desktop Access to work over the internet. Remote Desktop Access works on my local network.
Both of my computers are on Windows 7 Professionnal. My router is a Belkin F9K1002.
I followed the official widows tutorial. I forwarded the necessary port on my router (I switched from port 3389 to 50000, in case 3389 was blocked by my isp).
Every time I try to connect I get
"Remote Desktop can't connect to the remote computer for one of these reasons:
1)Remote access to the server is not enabled
2)The remote computer is turned off
3)The remote computer is not available on the network Make sure the remote computer is turned on and connected to the network, and that remote access is enabled."
New computer came with Windows Live Essentials 2011, plus I have a large Windows Update for it waiting in the wings. I would like to uninstall all the Windows Live programs and possibly keep Windows Live Mail in the event I might one day use it...or not. I also have MS Outlook on my computer.Is there any reason why I need to keep the Windows Essentials 2011 family?

yesterday I upgraded my HDD to a SSD and clean installed windows 7 home premium onto the SSD. I then updated windows and installed windows live mail 2011, but when I try to run the program it comes up with "Windows Live Mail could not be started.It may not be installed correctly. Make sure that your disk is not full or that you are not out of memory.0x80041161)".I have adequate space and 16GB of RAM, I have tried running wlarp.exe, unistalling and reinstalling and deleting everything windows live mail related (including the registry data) before reinstalling. View 2 Replies View RelatedI applied a Windows Update the other day without realizing that I was doing a major update from Windows Live Mail to WLM 2011. The installation progress window stopped at about 50% complete and just stayed there. After doing some Googling about the update (KB2434419) I read that behind the progress window is another window which asks the user whether all Windows Live apps are to be installed and updated or just the ones that have already been installed. I had been using only Windows Live Mail, so I chose to update only that application to WLM 2011. The installation appeared to run successfully, and I have been using WLM 2011 for two days. It works fine, although I've had to get familiar with numerous changes to its appearance and user interface.
The Windows Update icon is still at the right end of my taskbar, however, and when I click on it, the progress window is still showing "Installing update 1 of 1" about 50% complete as if it does not realize that the installation of WLM 2011 finished two days ago! The only option in that window is a "Stop installation" button. I am afraid to click that button in case it initiates a rollback of the WLM 2011 installation. Why does Windows Update think that the installation isn't complete? How do I terminate the session of Windows Update and not disturb the WLM 2011 installation that completed two days ago? Do I dare kill the Windows Update process that is running?
I have set up my wife's email account (TWC Roadrunner address) with Live Mail on our new Win 7 32-bit machine. It is receiving mail fine, but will not send. The attempted sent messages do not appear in the sent or outbox folders, but when I close the program I am asked if I want to send the unsent items.
