HDAUDIOFUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0888&SUBSYS_1028020EI have installed the realtek drivers and they as working but I still get nothing but a slight hiss from my speakers. I have tried them on my laptop and they work fine.Does anybody know what might be causing this? I am half tempted to get a new sound card but I am reluctant as it says my existing one is working (it just seems to have forgotten to tell the speakers!)
If anybody knows a fix for this I really would be eternally grateful

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using Windows 7 professional OS... and i got some problem with my sound system..
But when I rebooted my system with Backtrack OS.. I could listen the startup sound. and nothing other than that. As it is a live OS I am using,i didn't install any media players.. so couldn't check other sounds in Backtrack...
but in windows i couldn't even hear the startup.. I 've tried reinstalling the sound drivers. But it was of no use..
since yesterday, i logged onto Internet and noticed my sound was not working at all. i have tried disabling my sound and enabling it but it doesn't resolve the problem. i also tried trouble shooting the sound and it told me to plug in the speaker but i have internal speakers, it also said "the peripheral does not appear to be plugged in. check the connection. proceed to next step to finish." i have no idea on how to resolve my sound issues.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently built myself a computer over the christmas break. Sound has been working fine until I changed my network adapter card, which plugged into the pci express whereas the other one was just pci slot. I have done a system restore, restarted my audio, checked speakers on other devices to make sure they are not the problem. Even when I plug headphones in to the front jack I get no sound. Sound is coming from Asus MOBO.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo first I get this message when I mouse over the speaker icon(notice the red "x" on the icon). When I click the icon, Windows does a diagnostic and then this shows up.This is whats listed in my playback devices and this is with "Show disabled devices" enabled. Everything is enabled,Here is a picture of what my device manager looks like.
I've tried installing drivers for my sound card and my chipset, I tried restarting my computer, updated from my device manager, uninstalled drivers, reinstalled, etc. I've been searching online for a bit and nothing I found worked so I figured I'd give this a shot. I tried uninstalling the service pack update but that didn't work.

I got a new computer custom built a few months ago, but it came with Windows 7 32 bit, so I decided to wipe it clean and install 64 bit, for gaming purposes. It installed fine, games ran a lot smoother etc, sound was working at this point. The sound still worked up until a few days ago, when the headset I was using had broken. I ordered a new one from Amazon and while I waited for it to arrive I thought I'd just use my phone earphones in my computer.Considering the sound worked, the same day on my headset, but didn't work with my earphones, I'm sure you can imagine how confused I was. Because the headset was only physically broken, the sound was still working through it, and it sounded perfectly fine and clear, but when I used my earphones it didn't work at all. After some looking around, I discovered that the Realtek HD audio manager wasn't even installed on my computer, even though the previous headset had worked.. which confused me even more.So I installed it, plugged in my phone earphones, and it still didn't work.At this point I wasn't too bothered, because I thought that maybe it was because turtle beach headsets had their own sound-card inside the box that controls the volume, so I waited.
Only to have them have the exact same problem as my phone earphones, they didn't work on my computer, at all. I done all the usual stuff, checked that it was the default device on playback devices, which lead me to the other issue, my computer hasn't even picked them up as a device. I thought it was okay though, because the headset (Turtle beach x12's) are designed for xbox, but are compatible with PC (Which I have confirmed by using a laptop, they work on that). My old headset (Turtle Beach Foxtrot) actually appeared in the playback devices as "Turtle Beach Foxtrot" which I set as the default device, but with this new headset, nothing appears, just "Speakers".I've re-installed the realtek drivers and manager so many times, trying different versions, I've updated my chipset, checked nothing is conflicting in Device manager (There are no yellow symbols on anything), I've made sure audio is enabled in Services, I made sure audio is enabled in my BIOS, changing it to AC97 instead of HD, also changed the settings in Realtek HD audio manager to AC97. I've made sure the ports I'm plugging the headset into are working, by plugging my mouse into the same USB port. I've tried plugging them into the back panel, tried every possible combination.I've even made sure that the old headset I used didn't have its own sound card, because I thought maybe the sound card had been disabled inside my computer. The only thing it points to, is something being disabled inside my machine, which I haven't checked yet, because I wanted it to be a last resort.
The other night I had noticed that the sound, networking, and USB drivers have failed on my laptop. I ran a full system virus scan on my comp, but nothing came up as malicious. Anyone know how to resolve this issue? I would prefer not to reformat my hard drive at all costs.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI changed my Windows start sound a while back. After updates some time ago, it changed back to the original.I decided to change it back the way I wanted it and opened up the imageres.dll file in the Windows System32 folder using Resource Hacker.I found that the Imageres file still pointed to my sound file and when I hit play it, it played my sound. But my computer plays the default sound when it boots.I ran a search and found another Imageres file at this location...C:Windowswinsxsx86_microsoftwindowsimageres_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16385_none_dc93f95659399ba8imageres.dllThis file plays the original Windows sound but will not let me change it even with Resource Hacker.I go through the process on a copy of the file pasted on my desktop, but while I don't get any error messages, it still plays the original sound after completing the process.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI just purchased a "refurbished" Dell Optiplex GX 620. When I turned it on everything worked fine until it rebooted after an automatic Microsoft update was installed. Now I have no sounds. According to the Device Manager "Your sound card is not working properly because a compatible driver is not available for this version of Windows." (I'm running Win7). My sound card is a SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio. I have tried several SoundMAX drivers (found online) that said they were compatible but they don't work either.

I had to install the latest AC97 drivers that just came out to get rid of the exclamation point in Device manager. I have a second HD with XP and the sound works fine so I know my hardware is OK. Any suggestions to get my sound working?
