View 1 RepliesIt seems that since Win 7 SP1 was loaded my pc will not enter sleep mode. I've done everything the geniuses at Microsoft support suggest and nothing. Turning off hybrid sleep, disabling wake on lan, etc.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy Windows 7 desktop will not enter automatic or manual sleep. In both cases the computer does an "unsuccessful shutdown". I have to cycle power to reboot the computer. Restart and Shutdown work normally. I have enabled automatic sleep with both Power Options, powercfg, and BIOS.
Powercfg -energy reports no unusual errors rather than the usual USB devices not entering suspend state. I believe I have performed most of the steps outlined in the tutorial by Brink in the Vista forum "How to Troubleshoot a Vista or Windows 7 Sleep Mode Problem".
My computer fully supports S3 sleep state and last week is was working correctly. I recently reinstalled Windows 7 Professional 64-bit and it seemed it was working correctly. As you can see in the screenshot, I use only one device to wake up my computer, which is my keyboard, (I've always used this device in the past). When I put the computer to sleep, the monitor will go off, and it sounds like my speakers turn off as well, it's almost as if it's using S1 sleep state instead of S3, Lights stay on the power supply, the fans are still spinning. I wake up the pc with the keyboard, monitor comes back on, password login screen comes back. I have done quite a bit of searching on Google to find out my exactly problem, but only found answers to what is causing a pc to wake up automatically. That is not my case, as my computer will not sleep correctly anymore.
I think it has to definitely be software loading after windows is booted. I have tried a test, and as soon as I restart the computer and login, I put the computer to sleep immediately and it does it correctly. After a few minutes or hours, the computer won't sleep like it will from a fresh reboot. Something is loading after windows boots and is causing the computer not to sleep correctly. I have also disabled my onboard lan adapter to see if wake on lan is causing the issue. I have went into the bios and disabled WOL and saw S1 and S3 sleep modes supported.

MSI P67A-GD65
Intel I7 2600K @ 4.5Ghz
Patrol 2x4GB 1600Mhz
Nvidia Gtx 580
120GB Vertex 3 OS Ssd
240GB Agility 3 Game Ssd
I can manual enter sleep mode and it seems to work fine. Though I have had problems with it immediately waking up in the past, but I did manage to some how resolve that issue. However now, it will not automatically enter sleep mode. I've tried everything, I've read every article, I've changed all my settings and configured them to allow my computer to sleep. I'm not in a homegroup, went as far as locking all my folders to not share with anyone. I used the command prompt and typed: powercfg -requests and it dislpays this: FileSystemsrvnet and active remote client has recently sent requests to this machine. I tried disabling the internet from the computer, still not sleeping. Tried requestoverride command by entering: powercfg -requestsoverride FileSystemsrvnet the result is: An unexpected error condition has occurred. Unable to perform operation. You may not have permission to perform this operation.Yes, I am running cmd as administrator.

View 6 Replies View RelatedIs it normal for Windows 7 Home Premium to have multiple boot options at the F8 safe mode menu? (I.e. "Enable boot Logging" "Dosable unsigned drivers" etc etc). I thought there were only three boot options: Safe Mode, Safe Mode with Networking, and Safe Mode with command line..... It seems my safe mode prompt has those three plus all the others.
View 2 Replies View Relatedlooking for ideas on how to fix this problem.
while installing 7 H.P. it gets to completing installation then freezes up after computer reboots a warning message appears stating windows 7 has failed to install and resume after reboot, and then the same warning message appears.
I tried the roll back installation option and a message flashes on and off to quickly to read.
and Vista will not come up to start over.
any Ideas on what to Do?
I successfully bought the upgrade version of Windows 7 Home Premium N, downloaded and extracted it and now I want to install it.
When I choose UPDATE in the intallation dialog it tells me that I cannot upgrade from Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Home Premium ???
Every website from Windows and other people tells me that it IS possible and even the Windows 7 Update Advisor told me that I should not encounter any problems upgrading.
Has anyone of you yet encountered upgrading problems of compatible Vista/7 versions?
Or any other idea what I can do to solve the problem?!
I know that I can make a clean intall of 7, but this would be a pain..
Yesterday I was messing around on my brand-new laptop, and I was stupid enough to try a keygen to get Ultimate (I had HP). Surprising. It worked but the copy wasn't genuine obviously. So then I rebooted, pressed F8 at boot. An ran Toshibas recovery to try to get the computer to its out of box state. I got stuck at initializomg (either that or I was impaptient) so I turned off the laptop. Then when I truer to boot I got bootmgr is missing. I have an old vista Hp disk so I installed that for the time being. So my question is, how do I get it back to the original state? I do t have any important data or anything.

I am just wondering, what's the difference between Windows 7 Home Premium (OEM) and Windows 7 Home Premium?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI bought a notebook preinstalled Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, of course, licensed. But I found it incompatible with some software. So I decided to use 32 bit.I want to format the whole drive and install 32 bit version of W7HP.
View 3 Replies View RelatedThe original OS was Windows XP 32bit SP3. I upgraded this system to Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit SP2 with no issues.
I then went to upgrade the system to Windows 7 Premium. I chose the "Upgrade" install and not the "Clean" install. I've checked the updater to confirm that all my system information was adequate. I uninstalled the ATI Catalyst Controller, iTunes, etc. that it wanted me to. Oddly enough, the ATI Catalyst Controller was the most recent driver that supports Windows 7.
I checked online to see if the hardware was all supported by Windows 7. The Sapphire Vapor-X video card was not compatible or compatible... it simply wasn't on the list of either. The X-Fi Extreme Gamer said it was NOT compatible... yet, I had a driver for Windows 7 and the Windows 7 Application checker said that my sound card was ready for Windows 7... thus a discrepency.
I went on with the installation. I get to the last step where it resets the computer at 62% and I get a BSOD for about 1/3 of a second. It goes by too quickly for me to capture it. It then restarts the computer instantly with the result of "Upgrade was not completed successfully. Restoring prior OS yadda yadda". I've gone through this about 5 times now trying different things.. keeping the Catalyst controller installed, uninstalling the video card, removing the sound card, etc. Nothing seems to work.
It was recommended to me that I do a clean install... however, I have read that many others have done a clean install and theirs STILL doesn't get past the 62%.
Is it my hardware? Do I need to buy MORE hardware now that 7 is out that is on the compatible list?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI left my laptop running for a while when i left the room. When I came back it had frozen, I hadn't been doing anything untoward, I had been running a few programs at once, just like firefox and word. Anyway I had to turn it off with the power button. Then when I tried turning it back on I was able to log in but there was no desktop, just a black screen, same thing when I used safe mode. Now whenever I turn it on it goes to a disc check and when it gets to a certain number it says its unreadable and safe search just plain doesn't work. I'm gonna lose all my files. So is there anyway I could do a restore to factory settings (restoring to another time also didn't work)
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a HP PC and I'm trying to use HP recovery plus to install Windows 7. It consists of 3 discs and the thing is, that I insert the first one in the optical drive, restart computer, press F11 to enter the recovery menu or whatever. Then it loads Windows files, then the HP recovery itself starts. The problem is, that when I enter the recovery menu, the computer will go to power saving mode after a while, no matter what. I tried pressing some random keys to get it back up, but it just doesn't work.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have sort of a special case here. I purchased my HP laptop in Thailand, and much to my chagrin it came installed with Windows 7 Home Basic. In addition, the HP store which sold me the laptop installed 4gb of RAM neglecting to tell me that the 32bit version of 7 only supported up to 3. At any rate, I am hoping to upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium, 64 Bit edition. But while there is a glut of information online about how to upgrade from Starter, there is little to nothing about Home Basic. Do I have to buy a full copy of 7 Home Premium 64 Bit? Can I buy an Anytime Upgrade that is meant for Starter and apply it to my computer?
View 7 Replies View Relatedi just bought an asus u31s laptop a couple of weeks ago for school and all was great until today. it suddenly crashed and gave bsod. i was just on Internet or something, nothing special, but it had been running for a few hours. so now it won't boot up, it simply reboots constantly. i can't even get into safe mode. bios i can get into, but i'm unable to do anything, since it appears to freeze, when i get in there.
View 9 Replies View RelatedThe monitor seems to go into power saving mode when entering/exiting a game such as a game in steam. (But it doesn't happen every time) the only way to get it out is hard restart. Yes I've tried other monitors, as well as display drivers, and there also seems to be nothing wrong in the Bios.

How do you stop laptop from going into hibernation mode / sleep mode?
I run a program that takes 8 hours. I need the laptop to stay awake.
I've been looking for a fix for 5 hours and no luck- System restarts as soon as it enters the splash screen, but I can enter into safe mode - SFC /SCANNOW Detects nothing.
Tried bootrec commands and did nothing.. .
Tried chkdsk /f /r and still nothing. . .
Tried start up repair like 30+ times and it didn't fix it and said no root cause.
Had Windows 7 home premium for around 2 months on a brand new desktop. Never had a single problem with it untill today. Turned it on as normal, got to the log in screen where i click on the required user. As the pc is only used by me I only have 1 user availiable. I click on it like normal but this time i get a message saying 'The user profile service service failed the logon' 'user profile cannot be loaded'. It then refreshes the page and returns me back to the logon page and if i press enter the same thing just keeps repeating itself. Other option on this page are the shutdown/sleep/restart option and a little box in the bottom left corner called ease of access with various options, but none that seem relevant to the situation.
