However, it keeps showing as a windows 7 generic bluetooth driver and this will not work with my device. I tried uninstalling the driver but as soon as I plug my bluetooth device in it reloads the windows 7 generic bluetooth driver. I have loaded on my laptop the bluetooth driver I need to use but cannot never load it fast enough before the generic driver is found.

View 4 Replies View RelatedThis laptop has Windows 7 Premium Installed. I want to install a HD Audio Driver of my choice.
When I uninstall the Generic Windows 7 HD Audio Device Driver The driver is automatically re-installed on restart.
Windows 7 Premium does not have GpEdit.msc installed. An earlier version I came across (version 1.0 on the internet) has limited capability.
How do I prevent Windows Windows 7 from Automatically installing the driver?
Is there a registry entry I can edit to prevent installation of Generic Drivers or specific Generic Drivers i.e HD Audio Device Driver.
Working on a fresh install of Windows Ultimate. Got everything in place, programs, etc. Still trying to troubleshoo the built-in webcam problem (not starting up, "Need WIA driver" stuff). I found a driver for it from the manufacturer but right away I noticed it didn't work, the cam didn't work and so I attempted to roll back the driver. I then noticed that generic icons replaced many of the icons in my Start menu and task bar. I decided to do a system restore back to the point before I tried the new driver. No dice. Same problem exists. Then I went searching the forums for some ideas, many of which include deleting and rebuilding the icon cache, making the cache bigger, cleaning the dead entries from the registry, etc. I tried manually fixing the icon (replacing them) but the "change icon" command returns "cannot find" icon file. I went to look in the Windows/Installer folder and there is NOTHING in there except for a $PatchCache$ folder. The shortcuts for the generic icons do lanch their applications properly, fortunately. I've tried a lot of stuff, but nothing seems to work. This is so annoying. I put a lot of work into rebuiliding this system and I don't want to have to rebuild it all over again. All because of a stupid, lousy little web cam driver!
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo thing is my display driver - Standard VGA Graphics Adapter.I have a Panasonic CF-51ECCDBBM Model. So here is what happened---
I was a frequent user of the OS - Windows XP and my driver worked fine, I could play many low quality and few high quality games. But I tend to get infected when I was on XP. So I switched to a new OS - Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit (6.1, Build 7601) it automatically installed a the current driver I have as of now. When I try to play games on it, they will not work. When I try to play the Windows 7 Card game it lags terribly. I have done things such as the Windows Experience Index, Updating my driver via device manager, dxdiag, and several blogs and help sites. If possible can anyone help me or reccommend drivers that are compatible with my current OS and is substantially better than the piece of crap driver I have now?

View 1 Replies View RelatedHow do you force the generic USB audio driver in Windows 7 to operate at LINE level instead of microphone level? My Audio Technica Turntable uses the generic driver and I have to run the microphone level all the way down to 4 (out of 100) in order to get the proper level. The old XP driver had a line-level selection tab but no such option in Windows 7.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have the generic icons on my desktop. I have searched and found a few "fixes", but none seem to work for me.(I need to comment here that my computer is different from all others in the world")I am going to try to put a method that is supposed to fix this problem, but is does not work. When I get the task manager screen it has something like "C:system32 ame" that I have to leave, it will not go away. When I enter the information it does nothing.Well looking at the situation I want to know that all the icons of the application are turned in to generic icon or all the icons which are associated with Microsoft. I am providing following solution to rebuild Icon Cache Database. Well you have to run this command on command prompt of your system. Copy paste the following command and see the results. To launch the command prompt you have to click on the Start menu and enter CMD in the Run and press enter.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI thought that I had posted this last night, but no sign of it, so I'm thinking that I must have just taken a look at the preview and forgotten to submit -- sorry Mods, if this is a duplicate go ahead and kill it. Well I've got a nasty infection on my Dell XPS Studio, and at this point think that the easiest thing would be to do a clean install. Dell's Windows 7 installation is quite bloated, what I'd really like to do is install from my generic Windows 7 Upgrade disc, downloaded from the Microsoft Store and previously installed on my XPS 410. I do have Dell's disk for installing their required drivers, etc.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI played some videos that I took with my camera and downloaded to PC, and now I have the following problems:
The videos opened up in Windows Media Player, apparently.
Played Ok.
But now, when I click on other Desktop icons having absolutely nothing to do with pix or video, Windows Media Center opens up. It's as if it has taken over my PC. Also, all my icons on the bottom left of my screen (the Start Menu I think it is called ?) now have generic icons. Also a bunch on my Desktop, but not all. Clicking on any of these also opens up the Windows Media Center. How do I get my normal looking icons to show again correctly, and operate correctly?
A few months ago after a hard-drive meltdown I purchased a new Hewlett-Packard computer, with Windows 7 HP (64 bit) as the operating system. The tech who installed the computer said I should be fine to back-up to my Phillips 1 GB external hard-drive using the back-up facility provided with Windows 7 HP. I have made a few attempts to do so, all unsuccessful so far. Each time I get a fairly vague 'generic' error message (0x81000001), which does not really provide specific information:
Check your back-up:
Windows back-up encountered an internal error. Please review your settings and re-try the operation (It then gives the options of re-trying the back-up or changing the settings). I soon realised after my first failed attempt that my hard-disk space precluded me from backing up a system image, so I configured the back-up facility not to include one- but still the back-ups failed. My hard disk drives are thus:
(C) OS: 207 GB free of 919 GB
(D) HP- Recovery (1.45 GB free of 11.9 GB)
(G)'Elements' external HD- 1.20 MB of 298 GB (Basically this is an old back-up of my C Drive to an External HD, the capacity of which soon made it woefully inadequate for my back-up needs!)
(I) Phillips 1 TB external hard drive (921 GB free of 931 GB)
