How do you force the generic USB audio driver in Windows 7 to operate at LINE level instead of microphone level? My Audio Technica Turntable uses the generic driver and I have to run the microphone level all the way down to 4 (out of 100) in order to get the proper level. The old XP driver had a line-level selection tab but no such option in Windows 7.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an Asus P6T motherboard with Realtek ALC1200 on board audio and Windows 7 64 bit OS, DirectX 10, Audio Driver version 6.0.1.5859. The sound works normally for all audio functions. I installed Nero and went to use the Wave Editor application to record a song from the web and got the message "Unable to open recording device". Going to Options > Device Settings > for an Input Device there only shows "MMEwave mapper)". There is no other input device listed. In Device Manager the "Realtek High Definition Audio" device shows as the only device. Going to "Manage Audio Devices" and the "Recording Tab" there shows only "Microphone" and "Line In". There is no "Realtek Digital Input" device listed (as I've seen in web screenshots from others). how to get an input device listed to use with Nero recording?
View 9 Replies View RelatedBefore I just recently went to Win7, on XP I was piping audio out through an S/PDIF adapter mini-card to my HT receiver in the next room. On Win7, even though audio on the pc is just fine on it's own stereo speakers, the receiver doesn't get a signal from the pc. No wiring has changed, nothing hardware, only the OS AND the sound driver. On XP, with my ASUS mobo, I was using the ASUS recommended Realtek sound driver. On Win7 I'm using Micrsoft's built-n High Definition Audio driver. So I tried installing the latest Realtek driver. Not only still no sound to the receiver but also no sound on Skype. Unacceptable, so I uninstalled the Realtek and at least Skype works.

This is becoming a pain in the ass. I am using HDMI through my AMD 6850 to my LG TV for audio and video. It has been working fine(no audio problems) for about a year.Just recently, with no hardware or related software change I can think of, now, if I switch the input on my TV(for example go to HDMI1 to watch TV and then back to the PC) there is no audio. It becomes disconnected, I have reinstalled and tried using the AMD HDMI driver and the Realtek(my chipset) HDMI driver. When I switch inputs, sound manager shows HDMI as "not plugged in". The only way to fix it is to unplug the cable and plug it back in while staying on the PC HDMI input

I have the exact same setup on windows 7 but for some reason i'm getting a fraction of a second lag between plucking the string to the speakers making the sound. I've only had this problem since installing windows 7. has anyone else had this issue and if so is there a fix? i'm using onboard audio as don't have a sound card just yet.

Working on a fresh install of Windows Ultimate. Got everything in place, programs, etc. Still trying to troubleshoo the built-in webcam problem (not starting up, "Need WIA driver" stuff). I found a driver for it from the manufacturer but right away I noticed it didn't work, the cam didn't work and so I attempted to roll back the driver. I then noticed that generic icons replaced many of the icons in my Start menu and task bar. I decided to do a system restore back to the point before I tried the new driver. No dice. Same problem exists. Then I went searching the forums for some ideas, many of which include deleting and rebuilding the icon cache, making the cache bigger, cleaning the dead entries from the registry, etc. I tried manually fixing the icon (replacing them) but the "change icon" command returns "cannot find" icon file. I went to look in the Windows/Installer folder and there is NOTHING in there except for a $PatchCache$ folder. The shortcuts for the generic icons do lanch their applications properly, fortunately. I've tried a lot of stuff, but nothing seems to work. This is so annoying. I put a lot of work into rebuiliding this system and I don't want to have to rebuild it all over again. All because of a stupid, lousy little web cam driver!

I was a frequent user of the OS - Windows XP and my driver worked fine, I could play many low quality and few high quality games. But I tend to get infected when I was on XP. So I switched to a new OS - Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit (6.1, Build 7601) it automatically installed a the current driver I have as of now. When I try to play games on it, they will not work. When I try to play the Windows 7 Card game it lags terribly. I have done things such as the Windows Experience Index, Updating my driver via device manager, dxdiag, and several blogs and help sites.
