Nov 30, 2009I want to download a firmware update to a bluetooth device that is attached by a mini USB to USB connection into my laptop. However, it keeps showing as a windows 7 generic bluetooth driver and this will not work with my device. I tried uninstalling the driver but as soon as I plug my bluetooth device in it reloads the windows 7 generic bluetooth driver. I have loaded on my laptop the bluetooth driver I need to use but cannot never load it fast enough before the generic driver is found.

Jul 26, 2009OK as Ive been looking around the site Ive noticed that there are many issues like this one, and Im sure there are plenty of people out there that have this problem.
My "Windows Experience Index" is at a 1.0 only because my Graphics, and Gaming Graphics rating are at 1.0. Everything else is at 5.9 which I can live with.
When I look at my adavanced settings for my monitor it Shows my Nvidia GPU but only running with 14 MB total avail mem. And I know that NOT right. Unfortunatly when I went to Nvidia's site and ran the auto detect it said that I didnt even have their product and that I had the Standard VGA Graphics Adapter.
I can't seem to find the right drivers for this to fix it all, and I would love to be able to "Experience" Windows 7 at its fullest. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Hopefully the attached photos will give you an idea as to what Im working with. Also When i toubleshoot Aero Ive received this message:
"The current video card may support Aero with a driver that is compliant with the Windows Display Driver Model (WDDM). Contact the manufacturer of your computer or video card for a WDDM-compatible driver."
And when I try to change my screensaver to a 3D one it states that I either need a newer graphics card or one that is compatible with Direct3D.

- The Bluetooth device installs correctly but cannot find any devices
- Searching will go on forever and I have tried over 12 different bluetooth devices
- When opening up "Show Bluetooth Devices" windows, it never loads
- It works fine on the Windows Developer Preview (minor bugs)
Things I have already tried:

- Updating Windows 7
- Running the drivers in compatibility mode for all other versions
- Searched Google
I'm out of ideas and am in serious need of help. I'm trying to mainly use the adapter with the Turtlebeach Delta Force Headset, but it will not read any other devices as well as the headset.Here is the image of the "Show Bluetooth Devices" Menu. This is after loading for about an hour or so.

When I uninstall the Generic Windows 7 HD Audio Device Driver The driver is automatically re-installed on restart.
Windows 7 Premium does not have GpEdit.msc installed. An earlier version I came across (version 1.0 on the internet) has limited capability.
How do I prevent Windows Windows 7 from Automatically installing the driver?
Is there a registry entry I can edit to prevent installation of Generic Drivers or specific Generic Drivers i.e HD Audio Device Driver.
Generic Icons After Bad Driver Install?
Jul 28, 2010Working on a fresh install of Windows Ultimate. Got everything in place, programs, etc. Still trying to troubleshoo the built-in webcam problem (not starting up, "Need WIA driver" stuff). I found a driver for it from the manufacturer but right away I noticed it didn't work, the cam didn't work and so I attempted to roll back the driver. I then noticed that generic icons replaced many of the icons in my Start menu and task bar. I decided to do a system restore back to the point before I tried the new driver. No dice. Same problem exists. Then I went searching the forums for some ideas, many of which include deleting and rebuilding the icon cache, making the cache bigger, cleaning the dead entries from the registry, etc. I tried manually fixing the icon (replacing them) but the "change icon" command returns "cannot find" icon file. I went to look in the Windows/Installer folder and there is NOTHING in there except for a $PatchCache$ folder. The shortcuts for the generic icons do lanch their applications properly, fortunately. I've tried a lot of stuff, but nothing seems to work. This is so annoying. I put a lot of work into rebuiliding this system and I don't want to have to rebuild it all over again. All because of a stupid, lousy little web cam driver!

I was a frequent user of the OS - Windows XP and my driver worked fine, I could play many low quality and few high quality games. But I tend to get infected when I was on XP. So I switched to a new OS - Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit (6.1, Build 7601) it automatically installed a the current driver I have as of now. When I try to play games on it, they will not work. When I try to play the Windows 7 Card game it lags terribly. I have done things such as the Windows Experience Index, Updating my driver via device manager, dxdiag, and several blogs and help sites. If possible can anyone help me or reccommend drivers that are compatible with my current OS and is substantially better than the piece of crap driver I have now?
